Overview
Maple Reed is an area on Starsand Island best known as the location of the Hot Springs, one of the primary stamina recovery methods in the game. The area sits between the Starsand Town residential district and the coastal Crane Cape area, offering multiple hot spring spots where players can rest and recharge.
Hot Springs
The Hot Springs are Maple Reed's defining feature. Multiple hot spring spots are scattered around the area, and all of them work identically. They provide a reliable way to recover stamina without consuming food items. The Hot Springs are roughly three times faster than sitting and, unlike sleeping, they do not advance the in-game clock, making them the best mid-day recovery option when you need a full recharge without losing productive daylight hours.
How to Use the Hot Springs
Buy a Hot Spring Ticket from Zerine's General Store or any vending machine on the island. Tickets cost 100 Coins each.
Keep the ticket in your bag. No need to equip it on your hotbar.
Walk up to any hot spring spot in the Maple Reed area and interact with it. One ticket is consumed automatically.
Rest and recover. Your character sits in the hot spring and stamina begins regenerating at a steady rate.
Stamina Recovery Rate
You recover roughly 1 stamina per real-time second, or about 2 to 3 stamina per in-game minute. Filling a completely empty stamina bar takes several real-time minutes, so it is difficult to use the hot springs twice in a single in-game day. Plan your visit for when you need a significant recharge rather than topping off a nearly full bar.
Stamina Recovery Methods Compared
There are four main ways to recover stamina in Starsand Island:
Method | Cost | Speed | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
100 Coins per ticket | ~1 stamina/second (fastest mid-day option) | Does not advance time. Requires traveling to Maple Reed. Best in the early game when food is scarce. | |
Ingredient cost varies | Instant (45 to 105+ stamina per dish) | Most convenient once you have recipes and ingredients stockpiled. See the cooking guide for specific dish values. | |
Sitting with Recuperate perk | Free (craft any chair) | Passive regeneration (slower than hot springs) | Craft a Stump Stool (3 Softwood) or any chair and sit. The Recuperate perk from the Workpedia (Apprentice Crafter) speeds this up. This perk boosts sitting recovery only, not hot spring recovery. |
Sleeping | Free | Full restore (ends the day) | Going to bed fully restores stamina the next morning, but advances to the next day. |
Hot Springs as a Date Activity
Visiting the Hot Springs is one of the shared outing activities you can do with romanceable NPCs once you reach Heart Level 3 (370 AP). Other shared outing options include bike rides, backyard swings, and having drinks. NPCs respond differently to the invitation based on their personality.
Treasure Chests
Maple Reed contains at least two treasure chests:
Item | Description |
|---|---|
Chest #32 | At the back of the hot springs area. Follow the building around to the right. |
Chest #33 | Near the hot springs area. Contains a Satellite Dish Blueprint and 5 Hot Spring Tickets. |
Hot Spring Tickets can also turn up inside treasure chests elsewhere on the island, so you may accumulate a few for free before needing to buy them from a store.
How to Get There
Maple Reed is within walking distance of Starsand Town, located between the town's residential and dining district and the coastal Crane Cape area. There is no dedicated bus stop at Maple Reed, so the nearest fast travel point is in the Starsand Town area. From the town center, head north past the residential buildings toward the coast; the hot spring buildings are visible from the road.
Nearby Areas
Area | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
South | Main hub with all shops, services, and the nearest bus stop. | |
North/East | Coastal pier and lighthouse area, further along from Maple Reed. | |
South (in town) | Serena's beauty salon on the north side of Starsand Town, a short walk from Maple Reed. | |
West | Pastelle's ranch and livestock area. |
Tips
If you are running low on stamina while exploring far from Maple Reed, eating food is more practical. Save the hot springs for when you are already nearby or have run out of food.
The hot springs are a great early-game fallback: 100 Coins for a full stamina refill beats spending ingredients you might need for gifts or quests.
Combine Hot Springs visits with Maple Reed exploration to check the treasure chests in the area.
Unlock the Recuperate perk from the Workpedia early. Free stamina recovery from sitting on any chair complements Hot Springs when you are at home.
Hot Spring Tickets sometimes appear as treasure chest rewards elsewhere on the island, giving you free visits before you need to buy them.
The hot springs are a good date location once you reach Heart Level 3 with a romanceable NPC. Invite them along when you would be visiting anyway.
