Overview
The Evernight Forest is the first zone players enter when stepping through the portal into the Moonlit Forest dungeon. It is dominated by giant purple mushrooms and glowing bioluminescent flora, creating a dark, otherworldly atmosphere that stands in stark contrast to the cheerful overworld of Starsand Island. The Moonlit Forest is the only hostile PvE zone in the entire game, and the Evernight Forest serves as the introductory area where players learn the combat and puzzle mechanics that recur throughout the dungeon.
The zone connects directly to the Gate of Life, a sub-area with a sealed Astral Gate that requires freeing three Gravestars from Gravecrystals. Together, the Evernight Forest and Gate of Life form the entry section of the Moonlit Forest before players progress to Dreamfall Garden.
How to Enter
Entering the Evernight Forest requires starting the Explorer profession questline. The steps are:
The portal teleports you directly to the Evernight Forest camp. Stone Ammo for the Slingshot is crafted from 5 Stone, which yields 2 pellets. The recipe is purchased at the Explorer Club's cash register.
Campsites
The Evernight Forest and Gate of Life contain two campsites. Each campsite features a tent (sleep to restore HP), campfire (cooking), and sometimes a Workbench.
Camp | Location | Activation Cost |
|---|---|---|
Evernight Forest Camp | Immediately upon arriving via the portal | Free (entry point) |
Gate of Life Camp | North of the Evernight Forest, past the repaired bridge | 5 Fluorite (repair Damaged Moonweaver) |
Damaged Moonweavers appear as dim, lifeless structures covered in twisting vines. After repair with Fluorite, they become operational fast-travel hubs that let you teleport between any other repaired camp or back home. There are 10 campsites total in the Moonlit Forest, each requiring 5 Fluorite to activate.
Enemies
Runebird
The Runebird is the first real combat encounter in the Moonlit Forest. It is a large bird-like creature with a bright yellow stomach that serves as its weak point. It guards the path to the third Gravecrystal on a nearby cliff in the Gate of Life area.
Detail | Info |
|---|---|
Weak Point | Yellow stomach (abdomen) |
Attacks | Swooping dives, ground-slam shockwaves |
Strategy | Circle-strafe to dodge attacks; jump over ground shockwaves; fire Slingshot at the yellow stomach between attacks |
Drops | Runebird Fragment (quest item for Apprentice Explorer certification) |
Luminfrog
A frog-type creature encountered at the transition from the Gate of Life to Dreamfall Garden, behind a crumbling stone door. It takes approximately 5 Slingshot hits to defeat. Luminfrogs drop Sparkling Pigment, needed for the "Shiny Paint" Apprentice Explorer Trial bulletin board quest.

Gate of Life Puzzle
The Gate of Life is the primary progression puzzle in this zone. A sealed Astral Gate blocks the path deeper into the Moonlit Forest. The stone door has empty star sigils around a ring, and each sigil requires a freed Gravestar to fill it. Players must find and free 3 Gravestars from Gravecrystals scattered around the area.
Gravecrystal Locations
# | Location | Notes |
|---|---|---|
1 | By the broken bridge northeast of the Evernight Forest camp | Must repair the bridge with 15 Stone so the freed Gravestar can cross |
2 | In the Gate of Life camp area, just up from the tent toward the locked door | Most accessible of the three |
3 | On small cliffs directly south of the Gate of Life camp, in the southern corner | Guarded by the Runebird; requires defeating it first |
Mine each Gravecrystal with your Pickaxe to free the Gravestar inside. Freed Gravestars automatically float toward the Astral Gate. Once all 3 fill the star sigils, the gate opens and a reward chest spawns in front of it. This mechanic repeats in later zones of the Moonlit Forest with different arrangements.
Treasure Chests
The Evernight Forest and Gate of Life area contain approximately 6 treasure chests:
Chest | Location |
|---|---|
1 | Across from the first tent near the forest entrance |
2 | To the left of the portal entrance |
3 | Behind the large purple mushroom |
4 | Left of the large purple mushroom |
5 | Right side of the waterfall, next to the repaired bridge |
6 | Left side of the waterfall, next to the repaired bridge |
