Overview
Starsand Island is an open-world tropical island divided into several named regions. The entire island is accessible from the start of the game, though certain areas become more relevant as you progress through professions and the Moonlit Forest dungeon. The island features a central town, coastal areas, farmland, forests, and an underground exploration zone. The open layout can feel both exciting and overwhelming at first, but the main progression loop funnels you through professions, quests, and exploration milestones.
Island Regions
The surface of Starsand Island is divided into named regions, each with its own terrain, resources, and points of interest.

Region | Description |
|---|---|
Your starting farm. The main plot can be expanded up to eight times as you level up farming activities. Located near the entrance to the Moonlit Forest. | |
The main settlement and commercial hub. Contains shops, restaurants, an arcade, and the Community Center. Most NPCs live and work here. | |
A sunny coastal strip on the south side of the island. One of three homestead environments where you can own additional plots. | |
A lakeside area surrounded by bamboo groves and rolling hills. Also called the Bamboo Forest or Cloud Rest Lake. Another homestead environment. | |
Open grasslands above the town. Home to the Green Pasture Ranch and the Exploration Club headquarters. | |
A coastal promontory on the eastern side of the island. | |
A scenic pathway lined with seasonal flowers connecting several regions. | |
A sheltered bay area on the coast, used for fishing and boat launches. | |
A wooded area known for its deciduous trees and seasonal foliage. | |
Elevated terrain with views across the island. |
Homestead Environments
You can own up to nine homestead subplots across three environments. Subplots unlock through gameplay progression. See Building for construction details.
Environment | Description |
|---|---|
Coastal plots with ocean views and beach access. The most tropical-feeling environment. | |
Cloudrest Lake (Bamboo Forest) | Lakeside plots surrounded by bamboo groves and rolling hills. |
Elevated island plots with open sky and wind. Full terrain editing is available here: shape hills, dig lakes, lay roads, and design gardens. |
Surrounding Seas
Three named seas surround the island, each with unique fish populations.
Sea | Notable Fish |
|---|---|
Lumen Sea (Luminwave Sea) | Home to the Megamouth Shark (Legendary Fish King). |
Celeste Wave Sea (Celestwave Sea) | Home to the Long-barbeled Dragonfish. |
Coral Wave Sea (Coralwave Sea) | Home to the Swordfish. |
Dreamscape Lake is an inland body of water where the Legendary Glowfish appears.
Starsand Town
The island's main settlement and social hub. This is where you buy and sell goods, pick up quests, and interact with the islanders. Town shops operate on specific schedules, so check hours before making a trip.

A gathering place on the island where cats and dogs roam freely. One of the locations where warm encounters with animals occur.
The Moonlit Forest
The Moonlit Forest is the fog-shrouded exploration and combat area inside the island. Access it through the Damaged Door portal near your home after speaking with Zephyria at the Exploration Club. The forest is bathed in blue and purple hues, filled with massive mushrooms, hostile creatures, valuable ores, and three major boss encounters. It contains 12 named zones arranged in a roughly linear progression.
Zone | Key Features |
|---|---|
Starting area. Repair a bridge (15 Stone) to proceed. Basic gathering nodes. | |
First Moonweaver campsite. Runebird enemy encountered here. | |
Bubble platforms and a waterfall chest. Luminfrog enemy. | |
First boss arena (Crystalith). Post-boss area has three Gravestars hidden in mushrooms. | |
Primorite ore first appears. Sleep Lilies. Contains the Left Ruin Key in a chest. | |
Bronze Gate requiring two Ruin Keys. Lift system. Leads to the Glintortle boss. | |
Requires Water and Fire Arrows to access. Diamond and Flamecore ore. | |
Waterwheel puzzle. Connects to Darkwater Shore below. | |
Quiet zone with a camp and a fishing spot. | |
Transitional zone with Runebird encounters. | |
Contains a six-light torch puzzle that raises a pathway to loot. | |
Final camp before the Ruin Guard boss in the Ruins. |
Each zone has a Moonweaver campsite that can be repaired for 5 Fluorite. Repaired campsites serve as fast travel points. The three boss encounters across the forest are the Crystalith, the Glintortle, and the Ruin Guard.
Beach and Marina
Fishing spots, boat access, and ocean-related activities are found along the coast. Launch boats from here to reach the three surrounding seas and offshore islands. Delphin, the fishing mentor, hangs out at the marina.
Getting Around
The island is big enough that walking gets tedious. Several transportation options help you move between regions quickly.
Vehicles
Craft a skateboard early for a quick speed boost. Rent a bike or moped from Neona's Vehicle Shop when you can, and upgrade to a scooter or motorbike as your budget grows. Boats unlock ocean travel to the surrounding seas and Windflute Island. See the Vehicles guide for crafting recipes and costs.
Bus Stops
Ten bus stop stations are scattered across the island. Each station must be built before it becomes usable. Once built, you can fast travel between any two active bus stops for 15 Gold per trip.
Material | Quantity per Stop |
|---|---|
Stone Bricks | 10 |
Glass Panes | 5 |
10 | |
Iron Sheets | 5 |
Moonlit Forest Fast Travel
Inside the Moonlit Forest, repaired Moonweaver campsites act as portal checkpoints. Teleport between any two repaired campsites for free. Always repair campsites as you progress; the 5 Fluorite cost is minimal compared to the time saved.
Tips
Explore the entire island early, even if you cannot use everything yet. Knowing where shops, fishing spots, and homestead plots are located saves time later.
Build bus stops as soon as you can afford the materials. Fast travel for 15 Gold per trip is far cheaper than the time spent walking.
In the Moonlit Forest, always repair campsites. The 5 Fluorite cost is trivial compared to the convenience of fast travel between zones.
Hopeland (your starting farm) can be expanded up to eight times. Plan your layout early to avoid reorganizing later.
Keep a boat accessible at the marina. The three surrounding seas each have unique Legendary Fish that require ocean travel.
