Youfang overview

Youfang is a romanceable NPC in Starsand Island who serves as the island's fortune teller and spiritual guardian. He is a young monk and disciple of a monastery, sent to the island by his master to grow his spiritual ability and safeguard the island's spiritual line. He resides in the first large temple at Bastrom Heights, high in the mountains above Starsand Town. Despite his monastic role, Youfang has a carefree, laidback personality. He appears weirdly detached at first but reveals genuine wisdom and warmth over time. He also plays a key role in the Senior Exploration Trial questline for the Explorer profession.

Where to find Youfang

Youfang lives at the first large temple in Bastrom Heights, high in the mountains northeast of Starsand Town. He is one of the hardest NPCs to visit regularly because of the distance. He spends about 90% of his time at or near the temple, far from the main town area. To reach the temple:

1. Head north from Starsand Town toward Cloudrest Lake

2. Take the mountain road heading east and uphill

3. Follow the trail of blue hydrangeas snaking up the mountain roads. They mark the path

4. The temple is the first large structure you encounter at the summit

Youfang typically comes outside around 10:00 AM. Before that, he stays inside the temple where he can be difficult to find. His bedroom is inside the temple and is accessible at 3+ hearts of affection.

Daily schedule

Youfang rarely leaves Bastrom Heights. Your best window to find and interact with him is between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM when he is most likely in the temple courtyard or the main hall.

How to track Youfang

After your first interaction, Youfang appears on the Social app on your in-game phone. Open the Social tab and tap his portrait to see his exact location marker on the map. Use the Locate button to place a waypoint or Follow to track him in real time. This is especially useful given how far the temple is from your farm.

Gifts are the main way to raise affection with Youfang. You can give one gift per day. Items are grouped by affection value:

Youfang operates as the island's fortune teller. You can visit him at the temple to receive fortune readings that provide hints about upcoming events, weather, lucky days for certain activities, and spiritual guidance. His readings are thematic and atmospheric rather than mechanically binding. They add flavor and can occasionally hint at hidden content or optimal timing for certain activities like fishing or farming decisions.

Senior Exploration Trial quest

Youfang is directly involved in the Senior Exploration Trial questline for the Explorer profession. To achieve Senior Explorer rank:

1. Complete the prerequisites for Senior rank (Intermediate Explorer + required discoveries)

2. Speak with Zephyria at the Exploration Club to initiate the Senior Trial

3. Travel to Bastrom Heights and find Youfang at the temple

4. Youfang provides a spiritual trial that tests your exploration knowledge and combat readiness

5. Complete the trial challenges to earn Senior Explorer certification

After the trial, return to Solara at the Community Center for your Senior rank recruitment bonus. This rank unlocks Golden Bow, Fire Arrows, Water Arrows, and Gale Arrows.

Personality

Youfang is mysterious, kind, laidback, and calm. He was sent to the island by his monastery master despite his carefree nature. His master recognized a genuine spiritual talent beneath the lazy exterior. He appears weirdly detached from the social dynamics of the island but is deeply connected to its spiritual energy. His dialogue is filled with philosophical musings and gentle humor. Players often describe his romance path as "steeped in mysticism and intrigue". Do not expect a conventional relationship arc with Youfang.

Romance

Youfang is fully romanceable. His romance path progresses through the 5-heart system. At 5 Hearts (750 points), you can invite him to move into your farm at Hopeland. Once moved in, Youfang provides daily fortune readings and helps with light farm tasks. As of Early Access, the romance system includes daily gifting, photo sessions, and the move-in feature. Heart events and marriage mechanics may be added in future updates.

Tips

• Bamboo Leaf is the easiest gift to farm. Chop bamboo near Cloudrest Lake on your way to the temple for a free +15 every visit

• The trek to Bastrom Heights is long. Combine visits with hydrangea gathering (they grow along the mountain path) and ore mining

• Use the Social app's Locate button to set a waypoint to Youfang before traveling. Saves time if he has wandered from the main hall

• Visit between 10 AM and 6 PM for the best chance of finding him outside and interactable

• Youfang's dislike of Grilled Chicken Wings and hating of Runebird Fragments suggests he has spiritual objections to violence and meat. Stick to plant-based gifts for safety

• At 3 Hearts, visit his room inside the temple for unique dialogue about the island's spiritual history

• Completing the Senior Exploration Trial through Youfang is required for late-game weapons and ammo like the Golden Bow and elemental arrows

• A bus station near Bastrom Heights makes repeat visits much faster once unlocked
