Overview
Starsand Island launched into Early Access in February 2026 with several DLC packs available from day one, plus additional packs released in the weeks that followed. The DLC lineup includes both free and paid content, focusing on cosmetic items like furniture sets, fashion outfits, vehicles, and emotes. None of the DLC packs affect core gameplay balance; all items are purely decorative. As of late February 2026, there are four DLC packs available on Steam.

Classic European Furniture, Fashion, and Vehicles DLC
The only full-price paid DLC currently available, this pack was released alongside the Early Access launch on February 11, 2026. Priced at $19.99 USD, it includes content across four categories.
Classical Furniture Set: A collection of classically styled furniture pieces with detailed details and a sophisticated color palette. The set is designed for castle-inspired themes and luxury interior atmospheres, featuring approximately 8 to 9 individual furniture items.
Elegant Formal Outfit: Two formal outfits with classic silhouettes and a dreamy color palette, available for both male and female characters. Each outfit comes with a matching hairstyle.
Pumpkin Carriage: A fairy tale-themed vehicle that is an alternative method of transportation around the island. The carriage functions like any other vehicle in the game and can be summoned from the vehicle menu.
Dance Emotes: The DLC includes dance moves that can be used through the Phone's Emotes feature. Players must first unlock the Emotes functionality by completing the "Island Life: Decorating Your Home" progression stage before these dance moves become usable.
Chinese New Year Furniture and Fashion DLC
Released for free on launch day (February 11, 2026), this DLC celebrates the Lunar New Year with two content categories. The furniture set features ornate latticework, elegant furnishings, and rich authentic details inspired by traditional Chinese design. Players can build and customize spaces ranging from majestic halls to cozy living areas. The Neo-Chinese Outfit draws from festive themes, weaving together ink-wash landscapes and lively Chinese New Year symbols. It pairs well with the in-game Chinese New Year Festival seasonal event. With an Overwhelmingly Positive reception on Steam (93% positive), this free DLC has been one of the most well-received additions to the game.
Ribbit Holiday DLC
Released on February 15, 2026 as a free thank-you gift to the community, the Ribbit Holiday DLC was created partly as compensation for early launch issues. It includes two outfit sets: the Sunny Splash Swimsuit and the Frog Onesie Pajamas. Both sets are available in male and female variants. Seed Sparkle Lab announced the DLC on social media, calling it a "token of appreciation" for supporters.
Platform restriction: This DLC is available on Steam and Xbox.
The Ribbit Holiday DLC holds a 100% positive rating on Steam with all 19 reviews rating it positively.
Note: This DLC is sometimes referred to as the "Supporter Gift DLC" or "Gratitude Gift Pack" in community discussions and developer social media posts, but it is the same DLC pack.
Forest Cabin Furniture DLC
The newest DLC, released on February 26, 2026. This low-cost pack (approximately $1 USD) is positioned as an Early Access Supporter Bundle. It includes seven Sylvan Cabin furniture items along with their corresponding blueprints, providing a matching set of rustic cabin-style furniture for home decoration. The set has a cohesive woodland aesthetic that fits well with the natural environment of the island.
How to Claim DLC Items
DLC items are not delivered automatically. Players must follow a short quest chain to redeem them.
Complete the main story quest "Return to the Cabin in the Woods."
This unlocks the quest "Claim the [DLC Name] Reward."
Travel to the Community Center building.
Interact with the Self-Service Terminal inside the building.
Select the option to claim your DLC rewards.
Items transfer instantly to your inventory upon confirmation. Furniture appears in the building and decorating inventory, outfits go to the Wardrobe and Makeup menu, and the Pumpkin Carriage appears as a usable vehicle. Each DLC must be redeemed once per save file; starting a new save requires claiming the items again.

Community Reception
Community response to the DLC lineup has been sharply divided along the free vs. paid line. Both free DLC packs received positive to overwhelmingly positive ratings. The Chinese New Year DLC was praised for its generous content at no cost, and the Ribbit Holiday DLC was appreciated as a goodwill gesture.
The Classic European DLC, by contrast, received Mostly Negative reviews on Steam (roughly 35% positive). The primary complaint centers on perceived pricing: $19.99 for a cosmetic pack in an Early Access game that already costs around $40. Multiple Steam community threads describe it as "day-one cut content" rather than genuine additional content. Some players also felt the Pumpkin Carriage clashes with the game's pastoral aesthetic.
The broader DLC conversation was shaped by the game's early launch controversies. The initial inclusion of anti-cheat software prevented modding, which many players interpreted as a way to push cosmetic DLC sales. Seed Sparkle Lab later removed the anti-cheat and confirmed mod support with Steam Workshop integration for May 2026.
Planned Content
The official Update History roadmap includes several upcoming content additions that may arrive as free in-game updates or DLC packs.
Timeframe | Planned Content |
|---|---|
March 2026 | Sun Wukong-themed outfit at Ethereal Styles; firework items at Zerine's General Store; Rednote collaboration items at Lex Woodworks |
April 2026 | Expanded NPC voice content; NPC Dating System |
May 2026 | MOD support with creator tools; Steam Workshop sharing |
June 2026 | Multiplayer cooperative gameplay; friend island visits |
Post-EA | Additional offshore islands; 2 to 4 more romanceable characters |
The March 2026 content appears to be in-game items purchasable with coins rather than paid DLC. The developer has confirmed plans for additional DLC beyond the current Early Access phase but has not provided specific details.
Kickstarter Backer Exclusives
Starsand Island was funded through a Kickstarter campaign that raised over $311,000. Backers at various tiers received exclusive rewards separate from the Steam DLC packs, including exclusive character outfits, a pet, custom skateboard and weapon skins, a furniture blueprint, and a digital artbook. These items are not available for purchase through DLC and remain exclusive to campaign backers.
