Overview
Parkour puzzles (also called "trick spots") are hidden platforming challenges scattered across Starsand Town and the wider island. They are one of several ways to find treasure chests in Starsand Island. Completing a parkour course spawns a chest containing resources and sometimes exclusive blueprints that cannot be obtained anywhere else.
How parkour puzzles work
Spot the golden light: As you explore the island, look for a golden glowing aura on the corners of rails, fences, bollards, and walls. This marks the starting point of a parkour challenge.
Jump onto the light: Approach the glow and jump onto it to begin the challenge.
Follow the path without touching the ground: Continue jumping from obstacle to obstacle, following the glowing trail. You must not touch the ground at any point during the sequence.
Collect the chest: If you reach the end of the course without touching the ground, a treasure chest appears with your reward.
If you fall or touch the ground, the attempt fails, but you can immediately try again from the starting point. There is no penalty for failed attempts.
Permitted movement methods
You can complete parkour challenges using any of the following:
Jumping (on foot)
Rollerblades (Verdant Breeze rollerblades from Neona's G-Power Bike shop)
Hoverboard (Waverider)
The key rule is simply to avoid touching the ground: the method of traversal does not matter.
Rewards
Successfully completed parkour chests contain:
A random selection of resources and consumables.
Sometimes a random blueprint some crafting blueprints can only be obtained through chests, making parkour a valuable source of exclusive items.
Where to find parkour puzzles
Parkour puzzles are found primarily in Starsand Town and around the overworld island. They are part of the broader treasure chest system, which includes approximately 40+ overworld chests. Look carefully at structures as you walk around. The golden lights on railings, fences, and wall corners can be easy to miss, especially in busy areas of town.
Common locations to check:
Fence lines and railings along the main roads of Starsand Town.
Wall corners and ledges near shops and the Plaza.
Bollards and posts along the pier and boardwalk at Half-Moon Bay.
Decorative fences and stone walls around Bastrom Heights.
Other treasure chest types
Parkour chests are one of several hidden treasure types in the game:
Item | Description |
|---|---|
Fixed chests | Placed in plain sight around buildings, gardens, and roads. |
Relationship-locked chests | Two chests in each NPC's bedroom, accessible at Heart Level 3. |
Treasure Map chests | Found using maps that display directional arrows to a dig spot. |
Moonlit Forest chests | Chests found in the Moonlit Forest dungeon area. |
Flawed chests | Special containers that require processing before opening. |
World Tree chests | Farmable via a planted World Tree crafted at Worktable Level 3 on your farm at Hopeland. |
Tips
Rollerblades and skateboards help maintain momentum between jumps, making longer parkour courses easier. Rent them from Neona's G-Power Bike shop.
Scan rooftops and elevated structures, some parkour routes start higher up than you might expect.
There is no time limit on parkour courses. Take your time positioning each jump rather than rushing.
If a course seems impossible, try approaching from a different angle or using a different movement method.
Revisit areas of town you have already explored. Parkour starting points are easy to walk past without noticing the first time.
Parkour-exclusive blueprints cannot be bought from any shop, making these challenges worth completing.
