Fang and Nia
Overview
Fang and Nia are crossover characters from Pathea Games' My Time at Sandrock. They arrive on Starsand Island on the first day of Autumn (Fall 1), after the train line to Starsand Station has been repaired. Unlike Gust and Ginger, who arrive on Summer 23 and are introduced with a letter, Fang and Nia do not get a formal announcement. You must go to the station yourself and find them.

Both characters originate from the desert town of Sandrock. In My Time at Sandrock, Fang is the local doctor and Nia is a botany student. Their appearance on Starsand Island is part of the collaboration between Seed Sparkle Lab and Pathea Games, the same partnership that brought Gust and Ginger to the island.
How to Find Them
Complete the main quest to repair Starsand Station (required for the train line to operate).
Wait for Autumn 1 (Fall 1). Fang and Nia arrive by train on this date.
Go to Starsand Station on Autumn 1 and talk to them. They will not seek you out.
If you miss them on the first day, they will still be on the island. Check the station area or wander around town.
If you have not completed the station repair quest by Autumn 1, the crossover characters will arrive once the station becomes operational. The train line only runs after the quest is finished.
Fang
Backstory
Fang is the local doctor in Sandrock who runs the Fang & X Clinic. He practices naturopathic medicine and is often accompanied by his pet raven, X. In Sandrock, he is known for his reserved demeanor, medical expertise, and dry sense of humor. He is not the most social person, and his closest companion in Sandrock is X. However, players who spend enough time with him discover a softer, caring side beneath his guarded exterior.
On Starsand Island, Fang retains his quiet personality but seems curious about the island's natural remedies and local flora. He can often be found exploring gardens, the waterfront, and areas with interesting plant life.
Location
After arriving, Fang claims a house on the far west side of the island, overlooking the sea. This location fits his character; in Sandrock, he also lives somewhat apart from the main town center. Use the phone's Social app to track his exact location throughout the day.
Nia
Backstory
Nia is a botany student at the Highwind Botany Institute in Highwind, where she studies under Professor Luo. She is cheerful, inquisitive, and fascinated by plant life. Her personality contrasts sharply with Fang's; where he is reserved and direct, Nia is warm, talkative, and enthusiastic about everything she encounters.

On Starsand Island, Nia takes an immediate interest in the island's unique flora and ecosystem. She can often be found near gardens, on the beach, or exploring the town. Together, Fang and Nia represent the medical and botanical expertise that Sandrock is known for.
Location
Nia moves into a house next door to Serena. This makes her easy to find on a daily basis compared to Fang. Use the phone's Social app to track her if she is not home.
Gift Preferences
Fang and Nia accept gifts to build friendship. Their preferences reflect their Sandrock backgrounds. Fang favors natural remedies and herbs consistent with his naturopathic practice, while Nia gravitates toward flowers and plants matching her botany focus.
Gift data for crossover characters is still being documented by the community. The items listed below have been confirmed by multiple guide sources. Some entries remain unverified as the game is in Early Access.
Fang's Gifts
Category | Items |
|---|---|
Liked | Moonflower, Celeste Berry, Echo Bean, Midnight Herb, Spirit Fruit, Pasture Grass, Grilled Chicken Wings |
Disliked | Softwood, Bamboo |
Moonflower is the most consistently reported liked gift for Fang and is easy to forage while exploring the island. Celeste Berry and Pasture Grass are universal liked items that also work well. Avoid giving raw crafting materials like Softwood and Bamboo.
Nia's Gifts
Category | Items |
|---|---|
Loved | Moonflower, Blue Hydrangea, Light Blue Hydrangea, Purple Hydrangea, Blue Sleep Lily, Red Sleep Lily |
Liked | Wheat, Pasture Grass, Cherry Tomato Seeds, Celeste Berry, Mountain And Sea Skewers |
Disliked | Softwood, Chinese Perch |

Nia loves flowers, especially Hydrangeas and Sleep Lilies. Keep a stock of Moonflower or any Hydrangea variant for daily gifts. Mountain And Sea Skewers is a cooked dish that provides a liked reaction if you have the recipe. Avoid giving her Softwood or Chinese Perch.
Interaction and Friendship
Fang and Nia function as regular NPCs on the island. You can talk to them daily, give them gifts, and build affection. They are not romanceable; unlike Gust and Ginger, they are visitors rather than permanent residents and cannot be asked to move in.
Friendship building follows the same system as other NPCs:
Item | Description |
|---|---|
Daily chat | +5 Affection for speaking to them once per day. |
Liked gifts | +10 Affection per gift (one gift per day). |
Loved gifts | +15 Affection per gift. |
Quests | +50 Affection for completing requests they post. |
Room Access
The game locks you out of Fang's and Nia's private rooms until you reach a sufficient friendship level. This matches the same system used for all NPCs; reaching Affection Level 3 with a character unlocks access to their bedroom, which typically contains two hidden treasure chests.
Building friendship with Fang takes longer in practice because his house is on the far west side of the island, making daily visits less convenient. Nia is easier to maintain since she lives next to Serena in the more central part of town.
Tracking via Social App
Both Fang and Nia follow daily schedules that change with the time of day, season, and weather, just like every other NPC. Their exact location can be tracked using the phone's Social app. Select their name and choose "Locate" to see their position on the map, or "Follow" to place a persistent waypoint. This saves considerable time compared to searching for them on foot, especially for Fang, who wanders the western part of the island.
Crossover Context
Fang and Nia are part of the Seed Sparkle Lab and Pathea Games collaboration. Two sets of crossover characters exist:
Source Game | Arrival | Romanceable | |
|---|---|---|---|
My Time at Portia | Summer 23 (arrive with an introduction letter) | No | |
Fang and Nia | My Time at Sandrock | Autumn 1 (no formal announcement) | No |
Starsand Island is available as part of the "My Time at Starsand Island" bundle on Steam, which includes My Time at Portia, My Time at Sandrock, and Starsand Island at a combined discount. The bundle highlights the shared universe between Pathea Games and Seed Sparkle Lab's titles.
Tips
Head to Starsand Station on Autumn 1 to meet Fang and Nia. They do not come to you.
Use the phone's Social app to track their locations daily. Fang wanders the far west side of the island and is easy to lose track of.
Moonflower is the safest daily gift for both characters. It is easy to forage and liked by both Fang and Nia.
Nia loves Hydrangeas. If you are farming flowers, keep a supply of Blue, Light Blue, or Purple Hydrangea for her.
Avoid giving Softwood to either character. Both Fang and Nia dislike it.
Build friendship with Nia first since her house is more centrally located. Fang's western house makes daily visits slower.
Both characters have relationship-locked rooms with treasure chests. Reaching Affection Level 3 grants access.
If you played My Time at Sandrock, you will recognize both characters and their personalities. Fang's quiet reserve and Nia's bubbly enthusiasm are carried over faithfully.
