Cooking Recipes overview
Cooking is a core system in Starsand Island that transforms raw ingredients into meals that restore stamina, HP, and grant powerful temporary buffs. Unlike most farming games, cooking in Starsand Island takes real in-game time. Each recipe has a cooking duration, so planning ahead and running multiple cooking stations in parallel is essential. There are over 70 cooking recipes in the game, acquired from shops, quests, treasure chests, and story progression. Meals range from simple snacks to complex dishes that provide game-changing buffs for farming, fishing, mining, and combat.
Cooking stations
Several stations are involved in the cooking pipeline. Some are for cooking meals directly; others process raw materials into base ingredients:
Station | Function | How to Get |
|---|---|---|
Campfire | Primary cooking station. Cooks meals from recipes | Starter blueprint (free) |
Gas Stove | Upgraded cooking station. Same recipes, potentially faster | Crafter profession blueprint |
Separator | Breaks down raw materials into base cooking ingredients (Flour, Sugar, etc.) | Free Equipment Blueprint Pack from General Store |
Charcoal Kiln | Produces Salt from Salt Brick + Fiber | Free Equipment Blueprint Pack from General Store |
Brewing Barrel | Converts crops into liquid ingredients (Vinegar, etc.) | Junior Farmer blueprint |
Jam Maker | Combines fruits + Sugar into jams | Junior Farmer blueprint |
Pickling Jar | Combines vegetables + Salt into pickled vegetables | Intermediate Farmer blueprint |
Juicer | Makes juices from fruits and grapes | Crafter profession blueprint |
Tip: Build at least 2-3 Campfires (or Gas Stoves) to cook multiple recipes simultaneously. Since cooking takes real time, having parallel stations dramatically increases your food output.
Base ingredient processing
Most recipes require processed base ingredients rather than raw crops. Use the Separator to convert raw materials:
Base Ingredient | Source Material | Station |
|---|---|---|
Flour | Wheat | Separator |
Sugar | Beetroot or Sugarcane | Separator |
Vegetable Juice | Any vegetable | Separator |
Fruit Pulp | Any fruit | Separator |
Protein Powder | Any bug | Separator |
Meat Bites | Beef, Fowl, Mutton, or Pork | Separator |
Fish Fillet | Any fish | Separator |
Salt | Salt Brick + Fiber | Charcoal Kiln |
Vinegar | Various crops | Brewing Barrel |
Cooking Oil | Peanut or Winter Oilseed | Separator |
Food buffs
Cooked meals can grant temporary buffs that dramatically improve specific activities. Each buff lasts a set duration and only one buff can be active at a time. Eating a new buff food replaces the current buff. Here are all confirmed buffs:
Buff | Effect | Best For |
|---|---|---|
Scavenger | Guarantees reward items from trash cans and scavenging spots | Resource gathering in town |
Never Skunked | Fish bite immediately with no wait time | |
Watering Mastery | Each watering action irrigates more tiles at once | |
Creamy Seeds | Harvesting crops has a chance to drop Immortal/Everlasting seeds | Seed farming |
Pet Pal | Wild animals come to you instead of running away | |
Underwater Treasure | Fishing yields extra treasure chests alongside fish | |
Field Prep Mastery | Tilling covers more tiles per action | |
Forest's Gift | Increased drop rates from foraging and forest resources | |
Battle Spirit | Increased combat damage output | |
Scratch Master | Improved lottery scratchcard odds at the Chrono Arcade | |
Lucky Spin | Better prizes from gacha capsule machines | |
Bonus Timber | Extra wood drops when chopping trees | Wood gathering |
Bonus Ore | Extra ore drops when mining rocks |

Processing profit multipliers
Cooking adds value to raw ingredients through processing. The profit multiplier shows how much more a cooked item sells for compared to its raw ingredients:
Simple dishes (2-3 ingredients): 1.5x – 2x raw ingredient value
Complex dishes (4+ ingredients): 2x – 3x raw ingredient value
Buff dishes: Higher multiplier due to the buff utility, but best consumed rather than sold
Cooking is one of the best ways to increase profit from your farm output. Instead of selling raw Wheat for a few coins, process it into Flour and cook it into noodles for significantly more gold.
Nutrient Absorption skill
The Nutrient Absorption skill in the Workpedia increases the energy and HP restored by all food. Unlock it early to get more value from every meal you cook. Combined with high-tier recipes, this skill makes food buffs significantly more potent.
Tips
Build multiple cooking stations. Since cooking takes real time, parallel stations let you cook 3-4 dishes simultaneously
Buy all recipes from Aureleaf Kitchen as soon as you can afford them. Many buff recipes are only available here
The Separator is your most-used processing station. Keep it stocked with Wheat (for Flour) and vegetables (for Vegetable Juice)
Green Grape Juice and Red Grape Juice are the best farmable buff foods. Grow grapes on trellises and juice them for Bonus Ore/Timber
Always eat a buff food before entering the Moonlit Forest. Battle Spirit for combat or Forest's Gift for resource runs
The Never Skunked buff is incredibly powerful for fishing. Eat it before any fishing session to eliminate wait times
Check Aurelis's liked gifts. Most cooked dishes count as liked gifts for him
Processing crops into cooked meals before selling doubles or triples your farm income
