Overview
Charity Bins are bright yellow containers scattered around Starsand Island near each profession mentor's shop. Each bin dispenses free items related to the profession it is associated with. There are four Charity Bins in total, one for each of the four mentor-adjacent areas. The items are free to take with no reputation or friendship penalty. Charity Bins replenish periodically, so checking them whenever you pass by is a good habit to build into your daily routine.

How They Work
Approach the yellow bin and interact with it (F key on PC, A button on Xbox).
The bin pops out one item related to that profession. For example, the ranching bin at Green Pasture might give Feathers (an animal byproduct), while the fishing bin at AquaBlue Outpost might give fish or bait.
Items are random within that profession's item pool. You cannot choose what you receive.
Bins replenish periodically (the exact timer has not been officially confirmed, but players report they reset roughly once per in-game day).
Taking items from bins does not affect your relationship with any NPC. There is no penalty for collecting from them.
Charity Bins look similar to the Quick Shipping Box, which can cause new players to overlook them. The key difference: Charity Bins are yellow and located near mentor shops, while the Shipping Box is placed on your property.
Tips
Check Charity Bins every time you visit a mentor's shop. The free items cost nothing and accumulate over time.
Early in the game, the fishing bin at AquaBlue Outpost is especially useful since fish sell for good money and fishing supplies save you crafting time.
The exploration bin at the Exploration Club provides free ammunition, which saves Coins on ammo crafting for Moonlit Forest runs.
Charity Bins are available from the start of the game. No quest or profession unlock is required to use them.
