Hot Springs overview
Hot springs are a stamina recovery facility in Starsand Island where you can soak to rapidly restore energy. They are the fastest stamina recovery method in the game, recovering approximately 1 stamina per second. Each visit requires a Hot Spring Ticket that costs 100 Gold. The main hot spring is located in the Maple Reed area near Waverin's home.
How to use the hot springs
Purchase a Hot Spring Ticket from the General Store (Zerine's shop) for 100 Gold each
Travel to the hot spring location in Maple Reed
Interact with the hot spring entrance to use one ticket
Your character enters the spring and begins recovering stamina at ~1 point per second
You can exit at any time by pressing the interact button again, or wait until fully restored
Tickets are consumed on entry. If you leave early, the remaining potential recovery is lost. There is no partial refund.
Hot spring locations
Location | Area | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Maple Reed Hot Spring | Maple Reed (east of Starsand Town) | Main hot spring. Near Waverin's home. The largest and most accessible. |
Bastrom Heights Spring | Smaller spring near the mountain temple. Convenient when exploring the highlands. | |
Cloudrest Lake Spring | Hidden spring in the bamboo forest area. Useful during northern exploration runs. |
All hot springs have the same recovery rate and ticket cost. The only difference is location convenience.
Stamina recovery comparison
There are several ways to recover stamina in Starsand Island. Here is how the hot springs compare to every other method:
Method | Recovery Rate | Cost | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|
Hot Springs | ~1 stamina/second | 100 Gold/ticket | Any time (requires travel) |
Sleeping (Home Bed) | Full restore overnight | Free | Advances to next morning |
Sitting (Benches/Chairs) | ~0.3 stamina/second | Free | Any bench or chair |
Eating Food | Instant (varies by food) | Food item consumed | Anywhere (if you have food) |
Recuperate Skill | Passive +stamina regen | Starsand Points | Always active once unlocked |
Energy Drinks | Instant +50 stamina | 200-500 Gold | Shops and vending machines |
The hot springs are 3x faster than sitting and don't advance time like sleeping does. This makes them the best option when you need to recover mid-day without losing productive daylight hours. The 100 Gold ticket cost is minimal compared to the time saved.
Social features
Hot springs have a social component. You may encounter NPCs bathing at the springs at certain times of day:
Waverin frequently visits the Maple Reed spring in the evening hours (after 6 PM)
Visiting the hot spring at the same time as an NPC triggers a conversation event that increases affection
Some seasonal events and festivals include special hot spring scenes
Waverin and the hot springs
Waverin lives near the Maple Reed hot spring and has a deep connection to the location. He is a nature-loving conservationist who maintains the spring. Befriending Waverin (3+ hearts) unlocks additional dialogue about the island's geothermal history and the healing properties of the mineral water. He is fully romanceable.
Tips
Buy Hot Spring Tickets in bulk (10-20 at a time) from the General Store to always have them ready
At 100 Gold per ticket, the hot springs are cheaper than most food items for the same stamina recovery
Use the hot springs instead of sleeping when you want to keep working through the day. Sleeping skips to the next morning
The Recuperate skill from the Workpedia stacks with hot spring recovery for even faster restoration
Sitting on benches is free but 3x slower. Use sitting for small stamina gaps and hot springs when you need a full refill
Keep tickets in your bag at all times. Running out of stamina far from home with no tickets and no food is frustrating
The Bastrom Heights spring is particularly useful during mining runs in the highland caves
