Overview
The in-game phone is accessed by pressing Tab (keyboard) or Y (controller). It is the central hub for nearly every system in the game: progression tracking, NPC relationships, profession upgrades, vehicle management, achievements, and the item encyclopedia. Most of these systems do not have physical locations on the island; they exist only as phone apps.
Island Life
The main progression guide. Island Life presents sequential task sets organized into ranks that must be completed in order. Each completed rank provides rewards and unlocks new features. Think of it as the game's main questline, but structured as a checklist rather than a narrative.

Known ranks in order:
Item | Description |
|---|---|
Junior Talent | early progression tasks |
Skillful Star | requires reaching Junior level in a profession, completing 5 Community Center requests, and paying 2,000 Coins + 50 Starsand. Completing this rank unlocks the Buy Land app. |
Island Pro | first major milestone; enables land purchasing |
Home Builder | requires expanding land 6 times |
Bright Star | unlocks Blue Beach land area |
Starsand Legend | requires building 10 stations and buying Blue Beach plots. Unlocks Windflute Island. |
When you are unsure what to do next, check Island Life. It always points toward the next overarching goal.
Workpedia
The profession skill upgrade system. Spend Starsand Points (earned from StarNote achievements, Bulletin Board requests, and Island Life titles) to purchase permanent perks for each profession. Skills are organized by profession (Crafter, Farmer, Rancher, Explorer, Angler, Cook) and by tier (Apprentice through Expert). Higher certification tiers unlock more powerful perks.
Examples of useful early skills:
Item | Description |
|---|---|
Recuperate (Crafter) | faster stamina recovery when sitting |
Eternal Blessings (Farmer) | passive chance to receive everlasting seeds when harvesting |
Forest's Gift (Explorer) | bonus drops when gathering in the Moonlit Forest |
Islandpedia
A catalog tracking every item you have collected. The most useful feature is the Stamp Collection sub-menu, which awards bonus rewards as you fill out each category (Plants, Fish, Bugs, Crafts, etc.). Completing certain stamp milestones gives free everlasting seeds, coins, and other prizes.
The Islandpedia is especially helpful for fishing and bug catching. Each species entry shows its required weather, time of day, season, and location, so you can plan exactly when and where to find what you are missing.
StarNote
The achievement system. Completing StarNote achievements unlocks Starsand Points (the currency for Workpedia skills and land expansion) and cosmetic items (clothing and furniture). Achievements cover everything from catching a certain number of fish to reaching profession tiers to decorating your home.
Check StarNote regularly. You often complete achievements without realizing it, and the unclaimed rewards pile up.
Social App
Displays every NPC you have met with their profile, personality traits, and current affection level (1 through 5 hearts). The app automatically records gift preferences: it tracks which gifts each NPC liked, disliked, and hated, but does not record neutral gifts.
Heart level unlocks through the Social App:
Item | Description |
|---|---|
Heart 1 | begin receiving gifts from the NPC during daily interactions |
Heart 2 | take photos directly with the character |
Heart 3 | access their private room (contains a special gift) |
Heart 4 | the NPC posts character-specific requests on the Bulletin Board |
Heart 5 | invite romanceable NPCs to move in; they help with farm tasks |
You can also track NPCs from the Social App. Selecting a character and choosing Track shows a real-time pathfinding line on screen pointing to their current location.
Travel App
Manages vehicle rentals. Shows which vehicles are currently rented, duration of use, and coins owed. Options include Pay Now, End Rental, and Renew Rental.
This is where you resolve the "Please go to the App to pay after the rental ends" notification that appears when a rental expires. Ignoring it does not cause penalties, but clearing the balance is good practice.
Garage
Accessed by pressing R (separate from the phone). Summons owned vehicles and mounts to your current location instantly. Vehicle types include:
Hoverboards (can ascend vertically)
Motorcycles and scooters (higher speed)
Boats (water navigation)
Co-op bikes (two passengers)
Luna Deer mount (unlocked from the Moonlit Forest final boss)
Map
Accessed by pressing M. Shows the full island map or the Moonlit Forest map depending on your location. Features a Residents filter (third icon on the left sidebar) to locate and track specific NPCs. Also shows campsite locations, resource nodes, and points of interest.
Camera / Photo Mode
Accessed by pressing P. First-person photo mode for capturing screenshots. NPCs strike poses when photographed. At Heart Level 2, you can speak to a character to take a direct photo with them. Some NPCs reward photography with items or affection.
Journal
Accessed by pressing J. Tracks active quests with the ability to change which quest you are currently following. Contains both daily tasks and longer-term profession objectives.
Buy Land
Unlocked after reaching the Skillful Star rank in Island Life. Allows purchasing additional land tiles around your farm to expand your property. Land costs Starsand Points. Later ranks unlock Blue Beach and Windflute Island as additional expansion areas.
Tips
Check Island Life when you feel directionless. It always has the next goal ready.
Claim StarNote rewards regularly. Uncollected Starsand Points sitting in achievements do not help you.
Use the Social App's gift tracking to avoid giving disliked items. The app remembers what each NPC reacted to.
Track NPCs from the Social App rather than wandering the map looking for them. The pathfinding line updates in real time.
The Islandpedia shows exact conditions for every fish and bug species. Use it to plan your collecting runs.
Pay off Travel App rentals promptly. The notification is persistent and mildly annoying until cleared.
