Chopper
The Chopper is a crafting station in Starsand Island primarily used to produce fishing bait. It chops and processes raw materials into the bait types needed for the fishing system. The Chopper comes in three tiers, each unlocked through the Angler profession, and is essential equipment for any player serious about completing the Islandpedia fish collection.
How to Unlock
All three Chopper blueprints are purchased from Delphin at the AquaBlue Outpost, located on the right side of Half-Moon Bay. Each tier requires a higher level of Angler profession certification.
Tier | Unlock Requirement | Blueprint Cost |
|---|---|---|
Chopper I | Apprentice Angler | 600 coins |
Chopper II | Junior Angler | 1,700 coins |
Chopper III | Intermediate Angler | 4,000 coins |
After purchasing a blueprint, build the Chopper at your Worktable. The Chopper I requires Bronze, Glass Panes, and Softwood Planks. Higher tiers require progressively rarer materials. Place the finished Chopper near your fishing gear storage for a streamlined workflow.
Build Materials
Building a Chopper I at the Worktable requires several processed materials. You will need to gather and process base resources before construction.
Material | How to Obtain |
|---|---|
Bronze | Smelt Copper Ingots + Tin Ingots at the Furnace |
Glass Panes | Craft Glass Bricks (Quartz + Charcoal), then process at the Cutter |
Softwood Planks | Process Softwood at the Cutter |
Higher Chopper tiers (II and III) require upgraded materials such as Iron Sheets and Hardwood Planks. Check your Worktable recipe list after purchasing each blueprint to see the exact requirements.
Bait Types
The Chopper produces three main bait types, each attracting different categories of fish. Every fish species in the game has a preferred bait listed in the Islandpedia. Using the correct bait is essential; the wrong bait means the fish will not bite at all.
Bait | Chopper Input | Attracts |
|---|---|---|
Meat Bait | Flour + Fish Fillet | Carnivorous fish: Sharks, Tuna, Anglerfish, most deep-sea species |
Veggie Bait | Vegetable Juice + Flour | Herbivorous fish: most freshwater and some ocean species |
Bug Bait | Protein Powder + Flour | Specific picky eaters that only respond to insect-based bait |
The intermediate ingredients (Flour, Fish Fillet, Vegetable Juice, Protein Powder) are all produced at the Separator. Flour comes from Wheat, Fish Fillet from any caught fish, Vegetable Juice from any vegetable, and Protein Powder from any bug. Keep your Separator stocked alongside your Chopper for smooth bait production.
Separator Integration
The Chopper and Separator work as a pair. The Separator instantly processes raw materials into the base ingredients the Chopper needs.
Separator Output | Separator Input | Used In |
|---|---|---|
Flour | Wheat | All three bait types |
Fish Fillet | Any fish | Meat Bait |
Vegetable Juice | Any vegetable | Veggie Bait |
Protein Powder | Any bug | Bug Bait |
Because Flour is required for all bait types, keep a large supply of Wheat growing. It is the single most important crop for anglers.
Advanced Fish Food
The Chopper III unlocks a fourth product: Advanced Fish Food. This is not standard fishing bait; it is used exclusively in fish traps to attract fish and shrimp passively. Advanced Fish Food dissolves slowly and significantly improves trap catch rates compared to regular bait.
Product | Chopper Input | Station Required | Processing Time |
|---|---|---|---|
Advanced Fish Food | Vegetable Juice (x50) + Fruit Pulp (x1) + Flour (x1) | Chopper III | ~19 in-game minutes |
The large Vegetable Juice requirement (50 units) means you will need a dedicated vegetable supply for Advanced Fish Food production. This recipe is primarily for players investing heavily in the fish trap system for passive income.
Chopper Tier Comparison
Each Chopper tier includes all recipes from previous tiers, plus new ones.
Feature | Chopper I | Chopper II | Chopper III |
|---|---|---|---|
Meat Bait | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Veggie Bait | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Bug Bait | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Fish Feed (breeding) | No | Yes | Yes |
Advanced Fish Food (traps) | No | No | Yes |
Blueprint Cost | 600 coins | 1,700 coins | 4,000 coins |
Tips
Build the Chopper I as soon as you begin the Angler profession. Without bait, you can only catch the most basic fish with a bare hook, severely limiting your progression.
Meat Bait is the most important bait type for mid-game and late-game fishing. All deep-sea fishing zones (Coral Sea, Luminwave, Celestwave) are dominated by carnivorous fish that require Meat Bait.
Bug Bait requires bugs caught with the Bug Net. Build up an insect collection alongside your fishing supplies. Bugs are also needed for the Bugs collection in the Islandpedia.
Place the Chopper near your fishing rod storage and a bait chest for fast preparation before fishing trips.
Batch-produce bait during rainy days when outdoor farming is less efficient. A stockpile of 50+ of each bait type ensures you are always ready for any fishing spot.
Upgrade to Chopper II when you start breeding fish. The Fish Feed recipe is necessary for maintaining fish in breeding ponds.
If you use fish traps for passive income, upgrading to Chopper III is a priority. Advanced Fish Food dramatically improves trap yields.
