Overview
The Robot Terminal is an endgame automation station in Starsand Island that functions as a central resource storage hub for automation robots. It is unlocked through the Expert Crafter tier of the Crafter profession and represents the pinnacle of the game's automation system. Robots harvest resources autonomously and deposit them into the Robot Terminal, eliminating the need for players to manually gather and transport materials from remote locations.
How to Unlock
The Robot Terminal blueprint is available at the Expert Crafter tier, which is the highest level of the Crafter profession progression. To reach Expert Crafter, you must complete all preceding tiers:
Crafter Tier | Key Unlocks |
|---|---|
Apprentice Crafter | Basic crafting stations, Worktable I, introductory recipes |
Junior Crafter | Ore Analyzer, Worktable II, intermediate recipes, Impact Hammer |
Intermediate Crafter | Advanced stations, complex recipes, Worktable III |
Senior Crafter | High-tier recipes, specialized equipment |
Expert Crafter | Robot Terminal, automation robots, endgame recipes |
The Expert Crafter certification is one of the most demanding profession goals in the game. It requires extensive crafting experience, completion of high-difficulty recipes, and gathering rare materials from the deepest sections of the Moonlit Forest. Spirit Cube Fragments, which are obtained from Uncommon and Rare Ore Chunks through the Ore Analyzer, are needed for crafting the Robot Terminal itself.
Storage Capacity
The Robot Terminal can store up to 100 stacks of resources. Each stack follows the game's standard stacking rules (most resources stack to 99 per slot). This gives the terminal a theoretical maximum capacity of 9,900 individual resource units, which is far more storage than any other single container in the game.
The large storage capacity is designed to accommodate extended periods of automated gathering. Robots continue depositing resources even while you are away doing other activities, so the terminal needs to hold enough material to prevent overflow during long play sessions or multi-day gathering operations.
Supported Robots
Three types of automation robots work with the Robot Terminal. Each robot specializes in a different resource gathering category:
Robot | Function | Resources Gathered |
|---|---|---|
Mining Robot | Autonomously mines ore deposits within range | Copper, Iron, Silver, Gold, and other ores |
Logging Robot | Autonomously chops trees within range | Softwood, Hardwood, and other wood types |
Gathering Robot | Autonomously collects surface resources within range | Flowers, herbs, stones, and other foraging items |
Each robot operates independently and has its own operational range. Robots patrol their assigned area, harvest any available resource nodes, and return to the Robot Terminal to deposit what they have collected. The cycle repeats automatically until either the terminal is full or no resources remain in range.
Placement Strategies
Where you place the Robot Terminal significantly affects how useful it is. The terminal and its robots must be within range of the resources you want to collect. Two primary placement strategies exist:
Hopeland Property
Placing the Robot Terminal on your Hopeland farm is the simplest approach. Logging Robots can harvest trees on and around your property, and Gathering Robots can collect surface resources nearby. However, the most valuable resources (ores and rare materials) are in the Moonlit Forest, which is underground and out of range of surface-placed robots.
Advantage | Disadvantage |
|---|---|
Convenient access at your home base | Limited ore availability on the surface |
Easy to check and empty the terminal daily | Gathering and Logging Robots have diminishing returns as nearby resources deplete |
Close to crafting stations for immediate material use | Cannot reach Moonlit Forest resources |
Moonlit Forest Campsites
For maximum value, place a Robot Terminal at one of the Moonlit Forest campsites. This puts Mining Robots in range of underground ore deposits, which are the most valuable resources for endgame crafting. The camps at deeper forest levels have access to rarer ores, making them ideal placement locations.
Advantage | Disadvantage |
|---|---|
Access to all ore types including Gold and rare deposits | Must travel to the Moonlit Forest to collect resources |
Mining Robots are most efficient in ore-rich zones | Camp space may be limited |
Near high-value resource nodes | Requires navigating the forest to reach the terminal |
Many experienced players maintain Robot Terminals in both locations: one on the surface for wood and foraged materials, and one underground for ores and minerals.
The Endgame Automation Chain
The Robot Terminal is the centerpiece of the endgame automation chain. When combined with other late-game stations, it creates a self-sustaining resource pipeline:
Robots gather raw materials and deposit them in the Robot Terminal.
The player collects materials from the terminal and loads them into processing stations (Furnace, Cutter, Loom).
Processed materials feed into advanced crafting recipes at Worktable III.
Finished products are sold through the Shipping Bin or used for further crafting.
This pipeline reduces the most time-consuming part of the crafting loop (gathering raw materials) to a passive activity. Instead of spending 30 minutes per in-game day mining and chopping, the robots handle it while you focus on social activities, fishing, exploration, or other goals.
Resource Management
Empty the terminal regularly. While 100 stacks is generous, extended automated gathering can fill it surprisingly fast, especially with multiple robots operating simultaneously.
Sort collected resources into dedicated chests near your crafting stations. Having organized storage speeds up the processing step.
If the terminal fills up, robots stop gathering until space is available. Check the terminal at least once per in-game day to prevent downtime.
Track which resources you need most and position robots accordingly. If you need Iron urgently, place Mining Robots near Iron-rich zones rather than general mining areas.
Tips
The Robot Terminal requires Spirit Cube Fragments to craft. Start farming Uncommon and Rare Ore Chunks through the Ore Analyzer well before you reach Expert Crafter level.
Build multiple Robot Terminals if your resources allow. One at Hopeland and one in the Moonlit Forest covers both surface and underground gathering.
Mining Robots are the most valuable of the three types because ores require the most manual effort to gather. Prioritize crafting the Mining Robot first.
Place the terminal near a campsite teleporter in the Moonlit Forest so you can fast travel directly to it when collecting resources.
The Robot Terminal pairs well with all other automation stations: Cleaning Pod, Feeding Trough, and processing stations. Together, they create a nearly fully automated farm and crafting operation.
Reaching Expert Crafter is a long-term goal. Do not rush it. Focus on progressing through each crafter tier methodically, completing all available recipes and quests along the way.
