Overview

The Pro Gamer career is a rabbit hole career based at DG Esports in Dowon. DG Esports is described as an organization that "invites you to experience intense clashes at the top, where victories are achieved with blood, sweat, and tears." Your Zoi pursues a competitive gaming career, progressing from amateur status to legendary player. The career has three ranks with a top salary of 1,998 Meow per day, making it one of the highest-paying careers in the game. The Pro Gamer career is exclusive to Dowon. The Bliss Bay equivalent for the sports and gaming category is the Football career at Bliss Bay Nautilus, which shares the same salary structure but offers shorter 6-hour shifts.

How to Apply

To become a Pro Gamer:

1. Open the Smartphone by pressing P

2. Navigate to the Career app

3. Browse available positions under the Dowon listings

4. Select the Amateur Gamer position at DG Esports and tap Apply

The application is accepted immediately with no interview process. No prior experience, education, or skills are required to apply, though building the Programming skill before starting is strongly recommended. The Zoi must be at least a Young Adult and cannot have progressed past Middle-Aged. Joining another career or enrolling in university while employed results in immediate resignation.

Ranks and Salaries

The Pro Gamer career has three ranks with substantial salary jumps at each promotion. Salaries are listed in Meow per work day. Position limits determine how many Zois can hold each rank at DG Esports at a given time.

The salary more than triples from Amateur to Pro Gamer, and more than doubles again to Legendary Gamer. The 1,998 Meow top salary ties with the Football career's All-Star rank for one of the highest daily rates among non-criminal careers.

Work Schedule

The Tuesday through Thursday schedule gives Zois four consecutive days off (Friday through Monday). The 9-hour shift is longer than some other high-paying careers like the Lawyer or Professor (both 6 hours), but the top salary compensates with one of the best daily rates available. The four-day weekend provides ample time for skill development, socializing, and other activities.

Rabbit Hole Mechanics

As a rabbit hole career, the Pro Gamer career works differently from active careers like the Firefighter or Idol Trainee:

• The Zoi automatically boards a taxi when it is time for work

• The Zoi disappears from the game world for the duration of the shift

• The player cannot control or observe the Zoi during work hours

• Random career events may pop up during shifts, presenting choices with a 30-second response window

• The Zoi reappears near their departure point when the shift ends at 6 PM

• Salary is deposited into household funds after each completed work day

Programming Skill Connection

The Pro Gamer career has a strong connection to the Programming skill. Reaching Programming level 10 before starting the career is recommended, as higher skill levels are reported to improve shift performance. Programming can be trained through several activities:

• Playing games on PCs at home, at the Plesio Gaming Cafe, or on handheld devices

• Developing software (utility apps, puzzle games, sandbox games, finance apps) on a computer

• Reading programming books from bookshelves

• Discussing gaming strategies with other Zois

The Plesio Gaming Cafe in Dowon is a community lot where aspiring Pro Gamers can socialize with other gaming enthusiasts, practice on arcade machines, and enjoy food and beverages. It provides a thematic hangout for Zois interested in gaming culture and is a convenient location for building the Programming skill outside of work hours.

At high levels, the Programming skill also unlocks hacking abilities and the ability to develop and sell software for additional income through the computer interface. Programs sell for approximately 2,000 Meow each at high levels, making Programming a valuable supplemental income skill.

Promotion Mechanics

Promotions follow the standard rabbit hole promotion system:

The Legendary Gamer slot is the biggest bottleneck, as only one Zoi at DG Esports can hold this rank at a time. If the slot is filled by an NPC, you must wait for them to retire, quit, or be terminated before your Zoi can advance. If the promotion bar appears stuck at the Pro Gamer level, try saving and reloading the game, as some players have reported tracking issues during Early Access.

Career Opportunity Events

The v0.4.0 update (October 30, 2025) introduced 144 career opportunity cards across all rabbit hole career paths. For the Pro Gamer career, these are random events that pop up during shifts with a 30-second timer, presenting gaming-related decisions. Examples include finding yourself in a 1v5 situation in a losing game and choosing whether to fight it out or surrender, or deciding how to handle team conflicts. Each choice can affect the Zoi's mood, workplace relationships, or career progress speed.

While no specific traits or preferences are required, certain ones complement the Pro Gamer career:

Attendance and Termination

Missing a scheduled work day counts as an unexcused absence. After 3 unexcused absences, the Zoi is automatically fired from DG Esports. The counter resets when the Zoi attends a work day. Zois can voluntarily resign through the Career section of the Smartphone, but this resets all career progress. If fired or resigned, the Zoi can reapply starting at Amateur Gamer.

Retirement

Zois face mandatory retirement upon reaching the Senior age stage. They are automatically removed from DG Esports and cannot reapply. Since the game does not provide a pension, Pro Gamers should prepare for retirement by building household savings, training a second earner, or investing in a business before reaching Senior age.

Comparison with Football Career

DG Esports and the Bliss Bay Nautilus share identical salary structures but differ in work hours and associated skills:

The Football career offers significantly better hourly efficiency due to its shorter 6-hour shifts for the same daily salary. Zois who prioritize free time should consider the Football career, though it requires living in Bliss Bay. The Pro Gamer career is the better option for Zois already settled in Dowon or those interested in building the Programming skill, which has valuable side benefits like software sales and hacking.
