Overview
Fitness is one of the core skills in inZOI. It governs a Zoi's physical conditioning, determines access to activities like surfing, and connects directly to the football career path. Zois build Fitness by using exercise equipment at home or visiting public gyms. The skill has 10 levels, and raising it unlocks new interactions, improves athletic performance, and changes a Zoi's body shape over time.
How Fitness Works
Every time a Zoi uses exercise equipment, they gain Fitness experience. The amount of experience depends on the equipment type and how long the Zoi exercises. Different equipment targets different outcomes: some machines build muscle mass, while others like the treadmill burn calories and reduce body weight. Diet also plays a role. Eating high-calorie foods such as mac and cheese causes weight gain, while regular treadmill sessions burn it off. The combination of diet and exercise determines whether a Zoi trends toward an overweight, muscular, or lean body type.

Fitness level also affects a Zoi's mood. Regular exercise provides positive mood buffs, while neglecting physical activity for extended periods can trigger negative moodlets.
Home Gym Equipment
Players can purchase fitness equipment from Build Mode and place it inside their home or on their lot. Each piece of equipment serves a different purpose and costs a different amount of Meow (the in-game currency).
Equipment | Price (Meow) | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Indoor Yoga Mat | 5 | Meditation and yoga; stress relief |
Rocking Horse | 85 | Motor Development for children |
Soccer Goal | 1,271 | Football practice; Fitness XP |
Punching Bag | 185 | Upper body; Fitness XP |
Basketball Hoop | 1,820 | Cardio and coordination |
Pull-Up Bar | 285 | Upper body strength |
Football Table | 385 | Light activity; fun |
Pulldown Machine | 271 | Upper body; cable training |
Dumbbells | 585 | Muscle building |
Barbell | 64 | Strength training; Fitness XP |
Squat Rack | 271 | Lower body strength |
Hula Hoop | 5 | Full body cardio; very cheap |
Barbell Bench Press | 1,850 | Heavy strength training |
Air Swing | 185 | Cardio; full-body workout |
Punching Bag (Heavy) | 3,850 | Upper body; Fitness XP |
Treadmill | 4,100 | Running; primary weight loss |
The Indoor Yoga Mat at just 5 Meow is the cheapest fitness item in the game and the only equipment that supports meditation. More expensive machines like the Treadmill and Punching Bag (Heavy) provide faster Fitness gains but require a larger upfront investment.
Public Gyms
For Zois who cannot afford home equipment, two public gym locations offer free access to fitness machines.
Gym Location | City | Available Equipment |
|---|---|---|
Dowon | Air Swing, Punching Bag (Heavy), dumbbells, yoga mats | |
Muscle Beach | Bliss Bay | Squat racks, bench press, pulldown machines |
Public gyms are available around the clock. Zois can travel to these locations and use the equipment without any cost. The Dowon gym at Harang River Park tends to offer more varied cardio equipment, while Bliss Bay's Muscle Beach focuses on strength training.
Body Type Changes
A Zoi's body shape is not fixed after character creation. Ongoing exercise and diet choices cause visible changes over time. There are three general body outcomes:
Overweight: Caused by eating high-calorie foods without exercising. The Zoi's model gains visible weight.
Muscular: Caused by regular use of strength equipment like the bench press, dumbbell rack, and punching bags.
Lean: Caused by consistent cardio on the treadmill or cross country machine, which burns calories and reduces body fat.
These changes are gradual. A Zoi will not transform overnight, but sustained habits over multiple in-game days produce noticeable results.
Motor Development (Children)
Children have a related skill called Motor Development that functions as a precursor to the adult Fitness skill. Young Zois can use age-appropriate equipment to build Motor Development, including the rocking horse, ball sports, yoga, and even the treadmill. Progress in Motor Development carries over when the Zoi ages up, giving them a head start on the adult Fitness skill.
Fitness Master Ambition
The Fitness Master ambition is a multi-stage goal that challenges Zois to master physical fitness. It consists of three milestones:
Milestone | Requirements |
|---|---|
Level 1 | Purchase at least one piece of fitness equipment and complete 3 workouts |
Level 2 | Read 10 health-related books and reach Fitness Level 6 |
Level 3 | Complete 20 focused workouts and reach Fitness Level 10 |
Completing all three milestones rewards the Zoi with a unique "Show Off Muscles" interaction that can be used around other Zois.
Connections to Other Systems
Surfing: Zois must reach Fitness Level 3 before they can surf. Surfing is available in Bliss Bay and functions as both a recreational activity and a way to continue building Fitness experience.
Swimming: Swimming is a separate skill from Fitness. While both involve physical activity, Swimming has its own experience track and level progression.
Football Career: The professional football career at Bliss Bay Nautilus requires strong Fitness. Players progress through three ranks: Backup (264 Meow/day), Starting Player (864 Meow/day), and All-Star (1,998 Meow/day). Maintaining high Fitness is essential for promotion.
Meditation: Available only on the Indoor Yoga Mat. Meditation reduces stress and improves a Zoi's emotional state but does not contribute significantly to Fitness skill leveling.
