Star Mango
Complete guide to the Star Mango crop in Starsand Island, covering growth time, seed cost, sell price, profitability, processing recipes including Star Mango Jam, Everlasting Seeds, gifting preferences, and farming tips for maximizing spring income at the Expert Farmer tier.
Overview
Star Mango is a farming crop in Starsand Island, classified as a Fruit and unlocked at the Expert Farmer tier. It grows on standard Farmland (or in a Planting Box) during Spring, takes 7 days 12 hours to mature, and produces 4 Star Mangoes per harvest. With a base sell price of 505 Coins each, Star Mango is one of the most valuable crops available in Spring and the highest-selling farmland crop for the season at the Expert tier.
Described as a mango with purple flesh that is much richer in flavor than regular mangoes, the Star Mango occupies a premium spot in the crop hierarchy. Its combination of high sell price, farmland compatibility (no Trellis or Paddy Field required), and straightforward growing process makes it the go-to Spring crop for late-game farmers looking to maximize income. Star Mango pairs naturally with Chirpy Plum (Summer), Bell Pepper (Autumn), and Stardew Fern (All Seasons) as part of a year-round Expert-tier rotation.

How to Obtain Seeds
Star Mango Seeds are purchased from Graminova at the Happiness Seed Shop for 730 Coins per bag. Graminova stocks Star Mango Seeds year-round, but the crop itself only grows during Spring. Seeds planted outside of Spring will not progress, so buy and stockpile them in advance if you want to plant the moment Spring arrives.
To unlock Star Mango Seeds in the shop, you need to reach Expert Farmer by completing the Senior Farmer trial with Graminova. The Expert Farmer tier is the highest purchasable seed tier in the game, so reaching it takes considerable farming progression. Once unlocked, Star Mango Seeds remain available permanently.
At the Senior Farmer tier (one tier below Expert), you already have access to the Grinder, which lets you process 2 harvested Star Mangoes into Star Mango Seeds. This removes the need to buy seeds from the shop entirely, increasing your effective profit since each harvest can partially fund the next planting cycle for free.
Growing
Star Mangoes grow on standard Farmland or in a Planting Box. They do not require a Trellis or Paddy Field. The growing process follows the same steps as any farmland crop.
Till the soil: Use your Hoe on a patch of Farmland to create a planting spot. If using a Planting Box, place the box first (no tilling required).
Plant the seed: Select Star Mango Seeds from your inventory and place them in the tilled soil or Planting Box.
Water daily: Water the crop each day using your Watering Can, or set up Sprinklers to automate the process. Missing a watering day will delay growth.
Wait 7 days 12 hours: Star Mango takes 7 full days and 12 hours to reach maturity. Growth time starts from the moment you plant, not at the start of a new day. The crop does not regrow after harvesting; you will need to replant seeds for each new harvest.
Harvest: Walk up to the mature plant and interact with it to collect 4 Star Mangoes.
Because Star Mango has a relatively long growth cycle of 7.5 days, timing your planting is important. Spring lasts 30 in-game days, so you can fit roughly three full harvests per season if you plant on Day 1. Starting late in Spring risks losing your final planting to the season transition, which will cause any unfinished crops to wither.
Using Ripening Fertilizer can speed up the growth time. Ripening Fertilizer I instantly advances growth by 8 hours, Ripening Fertilizer II by 13 hours, and Ripening Fertilizer III by 25 hours. Applying Ripening Fertilizer III shaves over a full day off the 7.5-day growth cycle, which can help squeeze in an extra harvest before Spring ends.
For increased yield, Yield Fertilizer I boosts harvest quantity by 50% and Yield Fertilizer II by 150%. With Yield Fertilizer II, a single Star Mango plant can produce 10 Star Mangoes instead of the standard 4, dramatically increasing revenue per tile.
Sell Prices
Star Mangoes sell for 505 Coins each at the General Store. A standard harvest of 4 Star Mangoes brings in 2,020 Coins. After subtracting the 730 Coin seed cost, that leaves a net profit of 1,290 Coins per harvest, or 172.0 Coins per day over the 7.5-day growth period.
This puts Star Mango in a tie with Chirpy Plum (Summer, also 505g sell and 172.0 g/day) and slightly below Bell Pepper (Autumn, 518g sell, 176.3 g/day) among single-season Expert Farmer farmland crops. The highest gold-per-day Expert crops are King Water Chestnut and Zapweed (both 186.1 g/day), but those require Paddy Fields. For farmland-only farming, Star Mango is the best Spring option at Expert tier. See the Crop Profitability Rankings for a full comparison across all tiers.
Increasing Sell Value
There are several ways to get more out of your Star Mangoes beyond selling them raw.
Method | Details | Approximate Multiplier |
|---|---|---|
Merchant Ship | Sell to the Merchant Ship when it docks at Starsand Port. It pays 200% of the normal sell price. | 2.0x (1,010 Coins per Star Mango) |
Jam Maker | Process into Star Mango Jam at the Jam Maker (2 Star Mango + 3 Sugar). Jams sell for significantly more than raw fruit. | ~2x to 3x |
Separator (Pulp) | Convert into Fruit Pulp at the Separator. Fruit Pulp is used as livestock feed and as a cooking ingredient. | Varies |
Merchant Ship + Processing | Process Star Mangoes into Jam first, then sell during Merchant Ship visits for the highest possible return. | Up to 5x+ |
For late-game profit optimization, building multiple Jam Makers and running them continuously with Star Mangoes during Spring is one of the most reliable high-value income strategies. Star Mango Jam is noted as a high-value jam product. Save the finished jams for the Merchant Ship's weekly visit to maximize returns.
Recipes and Processing
Star Mango can be processed through three crafting stations. There are no known cooking recipes (Stove or Juicer) that use Star Mango as an ingredient at this time.
Processing Recipes
Output | Input | Station |
|---|---|---|
1 Star Mango | ||
2 Star Mango, 3 Sugar | ||
Star Mango Seeds | 2 Star Mango |
The Separator converts Star Mangoes into Fruit Pulp, a key ingredient in livestock feed. If you keep animals on your farm, dedicating part of your Star Mango harvest to Pulp production will help you maintain a steady feed supply. As an Expert-tier fruit, Star Mango likely produces a generous amount of Fruit Pulp per unit compared to lower-tier crops.
Star Mango Jam is the primary profit-boosting product. The Jam Maker takes 2 Star Mangoes and 3 Sugar to produce one jar. Finished jams sell for considerably more than raw Star Mangoes, and the investment in Sugar pays for itself quickly. Building a room full of Jam Makers and running them throughout Spring is a popular money-making strategy at the Expert Farmer level.
The Grinder converts 2 Star Mangoes into Star Mango Seeds, effectively recycling part of each harvest into free seeds. Since Star Mango Seeds cost 730 Coins, the ability to produce them from harvested fruit is a meaningful cost savings. Once you have Everlasting Star Mango Seeds (see below), the Grinder recipe becomes less important since those plants regrow indefinitely.
Everlasting Seeds
At the Senior Farmer tier, you unlock the Eternal Blessings skill from the Farming profession tree. When this skill is active, every regular harvest has a chance to produce an Everlasting Seed instead of a normal crop. Everlasting Star Mango Seeds work like permanent plants: after each harvest, the crop regrows automatically without needing to be replanted or re-seeded.
Once you have an Everlasting Star Mango planted, the seed cost effectively drops to zero for every subsequent harvest. This raises your gold-per-day from 172.0 to roughly 269.3 Coins/day (since you no longer spend 730 Coins on seeds every 7.5 days). With Star Mango already being a high-value crop, the jump from paid to free seeds is dramatic. Over a full Spring season, this adds up to a significant income boost.
Additionally, Everlasting Seeds ignore season restrictions entirely. An Everlasting Star Mango planted during Spring will continue to produce harvests in Summer, Autumn, and Winter without withering. This lets you grow Star Mangoes year-round once you obtain the Everlasting variant, turning a Spring-only crop into a permanent income source.
Tips for obtaining Everlasting Star Mango Seeds faster:
Upgrade the Eternal Blessings skill as soon as you reach Senior Farmer. Higher blessing levels increase the conversion chance.
Plant large batches of regular Star Mangoes. The more you harvest, the more chances you have to trigger an Everlasting Seed drop.
Eating Mirthshroom Soup (recipe found in a Moonlit Forest chest) grants the Creamy Seeds buff, which increases the chance of dropping Everlasting Seeds when harvesting. The buff stacks, so eating multiple servings raises the probability further.
Everlasting Seeds can also drop from Islandpedia entries and lucky chests found while tilling soil.
If you remove an Everlasting Star Mango from its tile, the Everlasting Seed returns to your inventory. You can replant it wherever you like without losing it.
Gifting
Star Mangoes make an excellent gift for several characters on the island. Knowing who loves and dislikes Star Mango helps you build friendship efficiently.
Preference | |
|---|---|
Loved by | Capybara, Graminova, Little Panda, Marston, Matilda, Parrot, Sagewood, Squirrel, Stella |
Neutral | Dog, Panda |
Disliked by | Cat, Ferret |
Gifting Star Mangoes to Graminova is especially convenient since she runs the Happiness Seed Shop where you buy the seeds. Keep a few Star Mangoes aside each harvest to gift to characters who love them for a significant friendship boost. Star Mango is loved by 9 characters, making it one of the more broadly appreciated gift items.
Other Spring Crops
The following table compares Star Mango against other Spring crops at the Expert and nearby tiers. For a complete comparison across all tiers and seasons, see the Crop Profitability Rankings page.

Among Expert crops that grow in Spring, Star Mango offers the second-highest gold-per-day (172.0) behind only Honeyvine (169.5 g/day with multi-harvest factored in), but Honeyvine requires a Trellis. For pure farmland farming, Star Mango is the top Spring pick at Expert tier. Stardew Fern grows in all seasons and provides 160.3 g/day on farmland, making it a solid all-season alternative if you prefer not to rotate crops.
Tips
Star Mango pairs with Chirpy Plum (Summer), Bell Pepper (Autumn), and Stardew Fern (All Seasons, or fill Winter) for a year-round Expert-tier income rotation. Swap your fields each season as the calendar changes.
Set up Sprinklers to automate watering. Star Mango has a 7.5-day growth cycle, and missing even one watering day can delay your harvest enough to lose a full planting cycle before Spring ends.
Stockpile Star Mango Seeds before Spring begins. Since Graminova sells them year-round, you can buy in bulk during Winter so you are ready to plant the moment Spring starts.
With 30 days per season and a 7.5-day growth cycle, you can squeeze in roughly 3 full harvests of Star Mango per Spring if you plant on Day 1. Apply Ripening Fertilizer III to tighten the timing and potentially fit in a fourth harvest.
Once you unlock the Grinder at Senior Farmer, process some of your harvested Star Mangoes back into seeds (2 Star Mangoes per seed bag). This eliminates the 730 Coin seed cost and raises your effective profit per harvest.
Save your Star Mangoes (or Star Mango Jam) for the Merchant Ship visit. The 200% buy price turns each raw Star Mango into 1,010 Coins, nearly doubling your income.
Build multiple Jam Makers and keep them running with Star Mangoes throughout Spring. Star Mango Jam sells for far more than raw Star Mangoes, and the investment in Sugar pays for itself quickly.
The Separator converts Star Mangoes into Fruit Pulp, which is used in livestock feed. If you raise animals, set aside part of your harvest for feed production rather than selling everything raw.
Gift spare Star Mangoes to Graminova, Capybara, Little Panda, Marston, Matilda, Parrot, Sagewood, Squirrel, or Stella for a large friendship boost. Avoid gifting them to Cats or Ferrets.
For the highest total farm income, combine Star Mango farming with Everlasting Seeds and Yield Fertilizer II. Everlasting Star Mangoes with boosted yield produce 10 Star Mangoes per harvest at zero seed cost, and they grow year-round regardless of season.
Star Mango is NOT eligible for the Gmax (giant crop) mutation. If you need a Gmax crop for the Intermediate Farmer trial, use Pineapple (Spring), Watermelon (Summer), Pumpkin (Autumn), or Winter Melon (Winter) instead.
