Overview
Rare Pokemon in Pokemon Pokopia are Pokemon that appear less frequently at habitats compared to common species. They include evolved forms of Pokemon and some single-stage basic Pokemon. The Habitat Dex marks rare Pokemon with a rarity indicator, so you can see which habitats contain rare species by hovering over silhouettes.
How to Find Rare Pokemon
Identify target habitats: Open your Habitat Dex and look for habitats that contain rare Pokemon. Silhouettes with rarity indicators show which species are rare or very rare.
Build multiple habitats: Build as many copies of the target habitat as you need. More habitats of the same type increase the chance of attracting the rare Pokemon you want.
Wait for spawns: Rare Pokemon take longer than common Pokemon to appear at habitats. Be patient, as spawn times can vary significantly based on luck.
Check regularly: If you feel like you are not getting any Pokemon spawns despite having several available habitats, there is a good chance your next spawn will be rare.
Rarity Classifications
Rarity | Description |
|---|---|
Common | Pokemon that appear frequently at habitats |
Rare | Moderately uncommon Pokemon; takes longer to appear |
Very Rare | Extremely uncommon Pokemon; requires significant patience or multiple habitats |
Time Manipulation
If waiting becomes tedious, you can speed up the process by changing the date and time on your Nintendo Switch 2 to force new Pokemon spawns. This is optional and sacrifices immersion, but it can save hours of waiting for particularly elusive rare species.

Tips
Check the Habitat Dex regularly to see which rare Pokemon you are still missing. Silhouettes and question marks indicate undiscovered species.
Build multiple copies of the same habitat type to increase spawn chances for rare Pokemon from that habitat.
Very Rare Pokemon (like Venusaur, Blastoise, Blaziken, Tyranitar, and Volcarona) may take much longer to appear than Rare Pokemon.
If you are not getting any spawns despite having many habitats, the next spawn is more likely to be a rare one.
Time manipulation by changing the Switch 2 date is an option for players who want to skip waiting periods.
