Overview
Arcanine is a Fire-type Pokemon in Pokemon Pokopia, classified as the Legendary Pokemon (Dex #089). Despite the "Legendary" species title, Arcanine is not a Legendary Pokemon in the traditional sense; the classification comes from its main series Pokedex entry. Arcanine can be found in two habitats: Mini Museum and Magma Fishing Spot, both primarily located in Rocky Ridges. It carries two specialties: Search for finding buried items and Burn for igniting flammable objects. In the main series, Arcanine is the evolution of Growlithe.
Habitats
Arcanine can spawn at two different habitats in Rocky Ridges.
Mini Museum
Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Exhibition Stand | 1 | Craftable or found in later regions |
Post (any) | 3 | Any type of post or sign works |
Lost Relic (Large) | 1 | Found by using Rock Smash on glowing blocks |
Arcanine appears as a Rare visitor at the Mini Museum habitat. This habitat represents a small exhibition space, fitting for a Pokemon with the "Legendary" species classification. The Mini Museum is best built in Rocky Ridges.
Magma Fishing Spot
Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Fishing Rod | 1 | Obtainable through gameplay |
Seat (any) | 1 | Any type of seating works |
Lava | 1 | Found naturally in volcanic areas of Rocky Ridges |
Arcanine appears as a Common visitor at the Magma Fishing Spot habitat. This is the easier of the two habitats to use for befriending Arcanine, since it spawns at a Common rarity here. Rocky Ridges contains natural lava pools that satisfy the Lava requirement.
Location
Both of Arcanine's habitats are primarily found in Rocky Ridges, the third major region in Pokopia. Rocky Ridges features volcanic terrain with lava flows and caves, making it the natural home for fire-type Pokemon like Arcanine. The Magma Fishing Spot is the recommended habitat for befriending Arcanine, since it offers a Common spawn rate compared to the Mini Museum's Rare rate. Arcanine is available at all times of day and in all weather conditions.
How to Befriend
The easiest approach is to build the Magma Fishing Spot habitat in Rocky Ridges. Find a lava pool, then place a Fishing Rod and a Seat nearby. Arcanine will appear as a Common visitor. Walk up and interact with Arcanine to befriend it. If you prefer the Mini Museum route, gather an Exhibition Stand, three posts, and a Large Lost Relic.
Specialties
Search
Arcanine has the Search specialty. If you hold the Dowsing Machine and press the A button while walking with Arcanine, you will start looking for buried items. Arcanine serves as a Search companion with no time restrictions, available both day and night.
Burn
Arcanine also has the Burn specialty. Pokemon with Burn can set fire to flammable objects such as campfires, furnaces, and smelting stations. Station Arcanine near fire-based crafting equipment, and it will keep the flames going during its free time. This is identical to Growlithe's Burn specialty.

Growlithe and Arcanine share identical specialties. Growlithe is easier to befriend through the Perpetual Mess habitat in early regions, while Arcanine requires access to Rocky Ridges and its volcanic terrain. If you already have Growlithe, Arcanine provides the same specialties with a more imposing presence.
Tips
The Magma Fishing Spot is the best habitat for befriending Arcanine, since it offers a Common spawn rate. Look for lava pools in Rocky Ridges and set up a Fishing Rod and Seat nearby.
Arcanine's Burn specialty is perfect for keeping campfires and furnaces lit in your base. Station it near your cooking or smelting area for hands-free fire management.
If you have not reached Rocky Ridges yet, Growlithe provides the same Search and Burn specialties and is available much earlier in the game.
Furnish Arcanine's habitat area with warm, fire-themed, and stone items to increase its Comfort Level.
Despite its "Legendary Pokemon" species title, Arcanine is not a true Legendary in Pokopia. The classification is a holdover from its original Pokedex species name.
