Overview
Bows are versatile ranged weapons in Crimson Desert that serve as the most well-rounded option for players who want to fight at a distance. They occupy the dedicated ranged weapon slot and are one of the starting weapons available to Kliff alongside his melee equipment. The bow has a fully dedicated archery system with multiple skills, arrow types, and the ability to integrate shots into melee combo chains.
Unlike firearms, bows offer a balance of speed, damage, and mobility that makes them effective across all combat situations. They lack the raw stopping power of rifles and the explosive area damage of hand cannons, but their versatility, variety of arrow types, and seamless weapon-switching capability make them the most flexible ranged choice.
Combat Style
Bow combat supports both mobile and stationary firing styles. Standard shots can be fired while moving, allowing the player to kite enemies and maintain distance without committing to a stationary stance. Drawn shots (holding the aim button) increase accuracy and damage but slow the player down.
The bow also supports a bullet-time precision mechanic. During certain conditions, the game briefly slows down to allow careful aim placement. This feature is particularly useful for hitting weak points on larger enemies and bosses, where a well-placed arrow to a glowing critical zone deals significantly more damage than a body shot.
Multi-arrow skills allow the player to fire several arrows in rapid succession or in a spread pattern. These skills consume more resources but deal substantial burst damage, making them effective for both single-target and group encounters depending on the skill chosen.
One of the bow's strongest features is its mid-combo integration. During a melee combo, the player can switch to the bow, fire one or two shots to create distance, and immediately switch back to melee. This fluid weapon-switching makes bows the preferred ranged complement for melee-focused builds.
Arrow Types
Bows support a variety of arrow types that alter their damage profile and utility. Different arrows are equipped in the ammunition slot and can be swapped during combat. Elemental infusions can also be applied to arrows, adding burn, freeze, or stun effects on impact.

Acquisition and Upgrading
A basic bow is available from the early game as part of Kliff's starting equipment. Better bows can be purchased from Equipment Shops, found in chests, or earned from quests. Refinement at a Blacksmith increases base damage, while Abyss Gear augments can improve draw speed, increase critical hit chance, or enhance elemental arrow effects.
Recommended Playstyle
Bows are the ideal ranged weapon for players who want flexibility. They work as a primary weapon for dedicated archery builds and as a secondary tool for melee fighters who want ranged options during combat. The bow's mid-combo weapon switching makes it especially strong in hybrid builds that alternate between melee and ranged attacks.
Investing in elemental arrow types and precision skills creates a build that can control the battlefield at range: freeze key targets, burn groups, and pick off weakened enemies with precision shots. For pure damage output at range, rifles outperform bows, but no other ranged weapon matches the bow's overall versatility.
All Bows
The following table lists every bow confirmed in Crimson Desert along with verified base stats. All bows can be equipped by Kliff in the dedicated ranged weapon slot. Each bow supports up to 10 levels of refinement at a Blacksmith, and every bow has 5 Abyss Core slots for further stat customization.

Refinement and Abyss Cores
All bows support up to 10 levels of refinement at any Blacksmith. Non-unique bows can be refined using gathered materials or duplicate weapons, while unique bows require specific crafting components. Refinement progressively increases the bow's base Attack value, making it the primary method for scaling ranged damage throughout the game.
Each bow also has 5 Abyss Core slots. Players can socket Abyss Gear into these slots to add secondary stats such as increased Attack Speed, improved Critical Hit chance, or enhanced elemental arrow effects. Choosing the right Abyss Cores for your bow allows for deep build customization, whether you prioritize raw damage, speed, or status application.
Notable Bows
Bekker Bow
The Bekker Bow is purchasable from equipment vendors in the Hernand region and is available from the very start of the game. Despite its basic appearance and low acquisition cost (4.32 silver), it is one of the best bows in the game despite being overlooked by many players. At maximum refinement, the Bekker Bow reaches 30 attack, Crit Rate Lv. 1 (2 innate crit rate), and 5 gear slots. These stats are identical to the Bow of the Fleeting, which is significantly harder to obtain. The Bekker Bow's easy availability makes it an excellent choice for players who want a reliable ranged option without farming rare drops.
Bekker Bow in Boss Builds
The Bekker Bow is also notable for its role in specialized boss fight builds. Its innate Crit Rate Lv. 1 provides a base of 2 crit rate, and when paired with the Necklace of Lightning (which provides Crit Rate Lv. 4, or 8 effective crit rate with the accessory multiplier), the total crit rate reaches 16 before any additional gear bonuses. This high crit rate makes the Bekker Bow a preferred weapon for overwhelming beings boss fight builds, where consistent critical hits significantly increase damage output during tight damage windows.
Related Skills
Bows are supported by a fully dedicated archery class with multiple skills and abilities. The Archery skill branch is located on the Blue Branch of Kliff's skill tree. Upgrading Archery Rank unlocks progressively more powerful bow techniques.

Skill | Description |
|---|---|
Archery Rank 5 | Maximum proficiency with the bow, unlocking the full suite of archery techniques |
Fire multiple arrows in rapid succession, covering a wider area | |
Perform a quick dodge while releasing an arrow, maintaining offensive pressure during retreats | |
Draw the bowstring back fully for a single high-damage arrow with increased range | |
Enter a concentrated aiming state for precise shots at distant or moving targets |
For the complete list of archery-related abilities, see the Kliff Skills page.
Precision Focus and Aerial Combat
Bows pair exceptionally well with Precision Focus, a slow-motion aiming mode that gives players time to line up shots on weak points. When activated during jumps or while airborne, Precision Focus enables devastating aerial arrow barrages, allowing players to rain down arrows on groups of enemies below. This combination rewards players who invest in both the Archery skill branch and movement abilities like Double Jump.
Bow Grades
Grade | Description |
|---|---|
Mythic | The rarest and most powerful bows. Often tied to major story events or legendary figures. Extremely difficult to obtain. |
Epic | Strong mid-to-high tier bows. Available through quests, merchants, and exploration throughout Pywel. |
Rare+ | Above-average weapons sitting between Rare and Epic tiers. Obtained from mid-level quests, specialized merchants, and challenging enemy encounters. |
Rare | Solid mid-game weapons. Easily obtained from merchants, crafting, or basic quest rewards. |
Uncommon | Basic starter weapons. Often the first bows players encounter. Useful for the opening hours but quickly outclassed. |
Enhancement
20 of 20 bows can be enhanced from +0 to +10 through the refining system. Each enhancement level increases the weapon's Attack stat. Higher enhancements require rarer materials, including Bloodstone, Scolecite Ore, and Abyss Artifacts.
Elemental Arrows
Through the Axiom Bracelet, players can infuse their arrows with elemental energy. Available infusions include fire, ice, and lightning, each adding corresponding elemental effects to every arrow fired. Fire arrows deal damage over time, ice arrows can slow or freeze targets, and lightning arrows chain between nearby enemies. Switching elements is handled through the Axiom Bracelet's interface, allowing archers to adapt to different enemy weaknesses mid-combat.
Bow Categories at Max Refinement
Every bow in the game falls into one of three stat categories at maximum Refinement. All bows within the same category end up with the exact same stats once fully upgraded, so your choice between individual models inside a category is purely cosmetic.
Pure attack: the highest raw attack value of the three categories. The Noble Bow is the headline example.
Attack speed: 2 levels of attack speed baked into the weapon. Grey Wolf Bow and Tommasoan Bow both land here at max refinement.
Crit rate: 2 levels of crit rate. The early Breaker Bow sits in this bucket and is indistinguishable from end-game crit bows once refined.
Because every refined bow inside a category produces the same numbers, the "best" bow is whichever model fits your build (attack, speed, or crit) and whichever skin you prefer. Refining to the higher tiers costs a lot of Timber and Flawless Timber as you climb, so it is worth picking a favourite early and committing.
Cosmetic Equivalence
Because every bow inside a category shares identical refined stats, most players pick a bow for its look rather than for numbers. Pair that choice with a camp Dye station to match your armour set, since the bow is always slung on your back.
