Values are dynamic aspects of a Zoi's personality that reflect their morals and beliefs. Unlike Traits (which are permanent and chosen during character creation), Values develop organically through what a Zoi does in Story Mode. Each of the 10 Values is tracked on a scale of 0 to 100. As a Zoi repeatedly takes certain actions, the corresponding Values rise. Values that are not reinforced gradually decline. This creates natural character arcs where a Zoi's personality shifts over the course of their life based on their experiences.

The 10 Values in inZOI are: Love, Coexistence, Safety, Authority, Challenger, Accomplishment, Autonomy, Rule-Abiding, Pleasure, and Traditionalist. These Values influence a Zoi's wants, urges, conversation topics, available interactions, and overall behavior. A Zoi can have multiple Values active simultaneously, each shaping different aspects of their daily life.
Every Zoi starts with Values influenced by their Traits and Desired Lives, which provide an initial boost toward certain Values. But Values are not fixed at creation; they rise and fall based on the actions the Zoi repeatedly takes throughout their life.
The key threshold is 60 points. Once any Value reaches 60 or higher, it becomes active and begins influencing the Zoi's wants, urges, and choices. An active Value unlocks additional interactions specific to that Value, including furniture-specific interactions, new conversation topics, and new urge types. A Zoi can have multiple Values above 60 at the same time, and each active Value independently contributes its own interactions and urges.
The Value with the highest score becomes the Zoi's Core Value, the single most important principle guiding their personality. If the Core Value's score drops below another active Value, the Core Value switches automatically to whichever Value now has the highest score.
A Value below 60 points is considered inactive. Inactive Values still exist on the Zoi's profile and can be viewed on the Zoi Card, but they do not influence behavior, unlock urges, or provide special interactions. Once a Value crosses the 60-point threshold, it becomes active and stays active as long as it remains at or above 60. If it drops below 60, it loses its active status and all associated interactions and urges become unavailable until the Value rises above 60 again.
When a Value becomes the Core Value, the Zoi gains three distinct benefits:
Benefit | Description |
|---|---|
Unique social interactions | Value-specific conversations and social actions become available that are not accessible without a Core Value. These appear in the Thoughts category of the conversation menu. |
Value-based actions | Certain behaviors tied directly to the Core Value appear in the interaction menu when clicking on furniture and objects. For example, a computer may offer "Play Traditional Card Games" for the Traditionalist Value, or a fire extinguisher may offer "Test Functionality" for the Safety Value. |
Urge rewards | Urges that align with the Core Value generate Meow Coins when fulfilled. These value-specific urges require 60 points in the associated Value to both unlock and perform. |
The table below lists all 10 Values, their descriptions, and common ways to increase them through gameplay.

When a Value reaches 60 or higher, new interaction options appear when clicking on certain objects and furniture around the Zoi's home and in public spaces. These are labeled as Value-Based Actions in the interaction menu. The specific options that appear depend on which Values are active.
For example, interacting with a computer may show a "Value-Based Action" submenu that includes "Play Traditional Card Games" if the Zoi has an active Traditionalist Value. Similarly, interacting with a fire extinguisher offers "Test Functionality" for Zois with an active Safety Value. These furniture interactions are separate from regular object interactions and provide an additional way to express and reinforce a Zoi's Values.
Value-based actions extend to social interactions as well. Zois with an active Coexistence Value at 60 or above can interact with cats in the park using options like "Give Snack," "Greet with a Treat," and "Receive Comfort Through Empathy," regardless of their current mood. Without the Coexistence Value active, these animal interaction options are limited.
Values directly influence the conversation options available when a Zoi talks to other Zois. The conversation interface in inZOI is divided into thematic categories accessible through the "More" tab: Daily Life, Romance, Affection, ChitChat, Humor, Conflict, Action, Thoughts, and News. The Thoughts category contains the most value-driven dialogue options.
When a Value is active (60 or above), new conversation topics appear under Thoughts and ChitChat. For instance, a Zoi with an active Love Value can show their passion for helping people in conversation. A Zoi with an active Challenger Value can push other Zois to reconsider their views, which may be received positively or negatively depending on the listener. The ChitChat category also includes value-specific options labeled "Value - [Value Name]" (such as "Value - Pleasure" or "Value - Rule-Abiding") that let the Zoi discuss topics related to their active Values.
Some conversation topics are context-sensitive. They depend not only on the Zoi's Values but also on the relationship type (Love, Friendship, Business, Family), the Zoi's current mood, age, and other factors. Business contacts in particular may share deeper insights into their thoughts and feelings through the more cerebral options in the Thoughts category over time.
When a Value reaches 60 or higher, new urges become available. Urges are short-term tasks that appear randomly and expire after 12 in-game hours. Fulfilling an urge awards Meow Coins and boosts a specific emotion. A Zoi can have up to four active urges at a time. The following table lists confirmed value-specific urges, the Value they require, and the emotion rewarded on completion.
Urge | Required Value | How to Complete | Emotion Reward |
|---|---|---|---|
Wants to Bond with Animals | Coexistence | Find an animal in the park or add one via Edit City. Interact and select "Bond." | Concentrated |
Wants to Talk About Challenges | Challenger | Find another Zoi and initiate conversation. Select dialogue options like "Suggest Finding a New Hobby Together" or "Express a Desire to Travel." | Concentrated |
Wants to Show Off Trophies | Accomplishment | Place a trophy in the home (earn one or buy from Build Mode furniture). Interact with the trophy and select "Show Off." | Tranquil |
Wants to Enjoy Music Alone | Autonomy | Place a speaker or stereo. Interact and select "Listen to Music." The Zoi must be alone in the area. | Tranquil |
Wants to Encourage Themself | Autonomy | Complete a self-affirmation action. Requires the Autonomy Value. | Concentrated |
Wants to Lock Their Computer Account | Autonomy | Interact with a computer and select the privacy/security option. | Tranquil |
Wants to Study Tarot Interpretations | Traditionalist | Visit a Fortune Teller (like the Oracle in Bliss Bay) or buy Tarot Cards and place them in the home. Interact and select "Study Tarot Interpretation." | Tranquil |
Wants to Play Traditional Card Games | Traditionalist | Place a computer on a desk. Interact, select "Value-Based Action," then "Play Traditional Card Games." | Tranquil |
Wants to Talk About Pleasure | Pleasure | Find another Zoi and initiate conversation. In ChitChat, select "Value - Pleasure." | Concentrated |
Wants to Talk About Social Norms | Rule-Abiding | Find another Zoi and initiate conversation. In ChitChat, select "Value - Rule-Abiding." | Concentrated |
Wants to Search for Legal Information | Rule-Abiding | Place a tablet in the home. Interact, select "Read E-Book," then "Search for Legal Information." | Tranquil |
Wants to Consult a Teddy Bear | Rule-Abiding | Buy a large Teddy Bear from Build Mode furniture. Place it and interact, then select "Share Concerns." | Tranquil |
Wants to Test the Fire Extinguisher | Safety | Buy a fire extinguisher from Build Mode. Place it in the home. Interact and select "Test Functionality." | Tranquil |
Wants to Send a Congratulations Letter | Love | Locate a mailbox (red in Dowon, blue in Bliss Bay, or place one via Build Mode). Interact and select "Send a Congratulations Letter." | Sentimental |
This list covers urges that have been confirmed through gameplay. Additional value-specific urges may exist and can be discovered through play. Note that some urges require specific objects (trophies, tablets, teddy bears, fire extinguishers) to be placed in the Zoi's home before they can be fulfilled.
Each of the 18 Traits provides a starting boost to 4 specific Values. These initial values give the Zoi a personality foundation, but gameplay actions can shift them over time. The Trait determines the Zoi's starting personality profile, and choosing a Trait is one of the most important decisions during character creation.

Each Desired Life provides a starting boost to 2 specific Values, on top of the 4 from the Trait. Together, the Trait and Desired Life define the initial personality profile of a new Zoi. Some Desired Lives overlap with Trait Values, giving a stronger starting boost to those Values.

Values are displayed on the Zoi Card, accessible from the toolbar menu in the bottom-right corner of the gameplay screen. The Zoi Card shows the full personality summary including Values, Traits, Desired Life, Ambitions, Preferences, likes and dislikes, and dating preferences. Players can change their Preferences and Desired Life from the Zoi Card, but cannot directly manipulate value scores.
The Zoi Card displays all 10 Values with their current scores, making it easy to track which Values are approaching the 60-point threshold. Active Values (60 or above) are visually distinguished from inactive ones. The Core Value (the highest-scoring Value) is also highlighted.
Note: The Autonomy Value (one of the 10 personality values representing independence) is separate from the Free Will / Autonomy game setting (toggled with the T key), which controls whether a Zoi acts independently through the Smart Zoi AI system. These are two different systems that share a name.
Values fluctuate constantly based on a Zoi's actions. The system is designed so that Values reflect what a Zoi actually does, not just what the player intended. Values that align with the Zoi's regular activities will gradually rise, while Values that are not reinforced through gameplay actions will slowly decline over time.
Some specific examples of how actions affect Values:
Frequent conflict and arguments decrease Love while increasing Challenger.
Regular interaction with animals and plants boosts Coexistence.
Consistently following routines and paying bills on time raises Rule-Abiding and Safety.
Pursuing career promotions and completing Ambitions raises Authority and Accomplishment.
Spending time alone and pursuing independent activities increases Autonomy.
Attending parties, dining out, and engaging in leisure raises Pleasure.
Participating in holiday festivals and family gatherings raises Traditionalist.
A Zoi assigned the Life of Tranquility who spends all their time fighting will see their Safety and Coexistence values drop while Challenger rises. Once a Value drops below 60 points, it loses its active status and stops influencing behavior. If the Core Value drops below another Value's score, the Core Value switches automatically.
Because Values are driven by gameplay actions, two Zois that start with the exact same Trait and Desired Life can develop very different personality profiles over time. A player who consistently directs their Zoi toward charitable and social activities will see Love and Coexistence rise, while a player who focuses on career ambitions will see Authority and Accomplishment dominate. This system ensures that every Zoi feels unique based on the life they lead.
Values interact closely with the Emotions system. Fulfilling value-specific urges awards specific emotion boosts. The two most common emotion rewards for value urges are Tranquil and Concentrated, though some urges (like sending a congratulations letter for the Love Value) award the Sentimental emotion instead.
A Zoi's emotional state can also affect which conversation topics and interactions are available. Some value-related conversations in the Thoughts category depend on the Zoi's current mood, age, and relationship context. For example, certain conversation topics about social norms or personal challenges may only appear when the Zoi is in a specific emotional state or has reached a certain relationship level with the other Zoi.
When creating a new Zoi, the Trait and Desired Life together determine the starting Value profile. Since a Trait boosts 4 Values and a Desired Life boosts 2, most new Zois start with 5 or 6 Values that have an initial advantage (if the Desired Life overlaps with one of the Trait's Values, that Value gets a stronger start).
For example, choosing the Collaborator Trait (Coexistence, Safety, Pleasure, Love) with the Life of Harmony (Coexistence, Love) creates a Zoi with a strong initial focus on Coexistence and Love, since both the Trait and Desired Life boost those Values. This Zoi will likely reach the 60-point threshold for Coexistence and Love quickly, making those Values active early in gameplay.
In contrast, choosing the Adventurer Trait (Challenger, Accomplishment, Pleasure, Authority) with the Life of Freedom (Autonomy, Challenger) focuses on Challenger with overlap. This creates a bold, thrill-seeking Zoi who will likely develop Challenger as their Core Value.
The Life of Self-Discovery is unique because it provides no starting Value boosts. Choosing it means the Zoi's Values are determined entirely by the Trait and subsequent gameplay, giving the player more flexibility in shaping the Zoi's personality through their actions alone.
Strategy | Details |
|---|---|
Target a Core Value early | If you want a specific Core Value, choose a Trait and Desired Life that both boost it. The overlap gives a stronger starting position and helps reach 60 points faster. |
Check the Zoi Card regularly | Keep an eye on Value scores through the Zoi Card. If a Value is close to 60, a few targeted actions can push it over the activation threshold. |
Reinforce active Values | Values that are not reinforced through gameplay will decline. If you want to keep a Value active, make sure the Zoi regularly performs actions that align with it. |
Use urges for Meow Coins | Value-specific urges are one of the best sources of Meow Coins. Keep the right furniture in the home (trophies, tablets, teddy bears, musical instruments, fire extinguishers) to enable urge completion. |
Place value-related furniture | Many value urges require specific objects. Stock the Zoi's home with items that match their active Values. A computer enables Traditionalist card games, a tablet enables Rule-Abiding legal research, and a trophy enables Accomplishment show-offs. |
Manage multiple active Values | A Zoi can have several Values above 60 at once. This opens more interaction options and urges. A well-rounded Zoi with multiple active Values has more gameplay variety. |
Watch for Core Value shifts | If you are doing activities that boost a different Value, the Core Value may switch unexpectedly. The Core Value is always the highest-scoring Value, so plan your activities accordingly. |
Explore Thoughts conversations | The Thoughts category in conversations contains value-driven dialogue. Try different conversation topics to see how other Zois react to your active Values. |
Life of Self-Discovery for flexibility | If you want maximum control over which Values develop, the Life of Self-Discovery starts with no preset Value boosts, letting gameplay actions alone determine the personality. |
Autonomy vs Free Will | Remember that the Autonomy personality Value and the Free Will / Autonomy game setting (T key) are separate systems. Raising the Autonomy Value makes the Zoi prefer solo activities; the Free Will setting controls whether the Smart Zoi AI directs their actions. |
