Homework and School Life
Complete guide to the education system in inZOI, covering enrollment, elementary through high school, the homework system, academic level tracking, child skill development, random events, university, essential home setup, and tips for managing your Zoi's school life.
Overview
School is a core part of life for younger Zois in inZOI. Children, Adolescents, and teenagers attend school daily, where they develop Skills, form Relationships, and prepare for adulthood. Schools currently operate as rabbit holes, meaning Zois disappear into the school building during school hours and return home afterward. Players can enroll their young Zois via the smartphone (press P) and navigate to the School tab to apply. Enrollment is instant with no admission requirements.
Education Stages
inZOI features three school levels tied to specific Life Stages. One in-game day equals 48 real-world minutes by default (changed from 96 minutes in the v0.4.0 update), though this can be adjusted in settings.

School Level | Life Stage | Duration (In-Game Days) |
|---|---|---|
Elementary School | Child (days 4-10) | ~7 days |
Middle School | Adolescent (days 11-15) | ~5 days |
High School | Teenager (days 16-20) | ~5 days |
The Adolescent life stage was specifically created by the developers because they "wanted a middle school in the game" and to stretch the early years out to give each Zoi's personality time to form. After completing High School, Zois age up to Young Adult and can optionally attend University. Characters age up automatically without player prompting.
The School Day
School follows a structured daily schedule. Zois automatically travel to school at the designated time each morning and return home when the school day ends. During school hours, players can click the Zoi's portrait in the sidebar to choose between activities like studying or eating in the cafeteria. While the options are limited compared to direct control, they provide some influence over development during the rabbit hole period.
Random Events
While at school, random events (sometimes called "chance cards" by the community) may pop up, presenting scenarios with multiple response choices. These events can affect a Zoi's academic performance and mood, and time pauses when they appear so players have time to consider their response.
Attendance and Absences
The game tracks attendance and absences through the School tab on the smartphone. Three unexcused absences may result in expulsion from school. Players can also voluntarily drop out via the School tab, but this causes all academic progress to reset. Dropped-out Zois can re-enroll later.
Homework System
After each school day, young Zois receive homework assignments that appear as a task list on the left side of the screen. These tasks must be completed within a tight window of approximately 5 to 6 hours after school ends.
Types of Homework Tasks
Task Type | How to Complete | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Reading Assignments | Find the correct book on a bookshelf and study it | Must study to completion, not just finish reading; books are on bookshelves, not in inventory |
Computer Research | Use the Homework tab on a computer | Select the correct homework option from available choices |
Coding Tasks | Complete programming assignments via computer | Access through the computer's Homework interface |
Fitness Assessments | Complete exercises on a treadmill | Physical education assignments |
Music Assignments | Compose or practice musical pieces | May require composing harmonies for choral performance assessment |
Essay Writing | Write essays via computer | Has strict time constraints |
Important Homework Tips
When reading assignments say to read a specific book, you must find the exact correct book on the bookshelf (for example, an "advanced" book rather than a "beginner" one)
Simply filling the reading progress circle is not enough; the Zoi must study the book to completion for the task to count as done
If you do not own the required book at home, visit a public library to find it
A bookshelf and a computer at home are essential furniture items for completing most homework tasks
Completing homework on time increases the Zoi's Academic Level, while missing deadlines causes it to drop
Academic Level
inZOI tracks academic performance through an "Academic Level" metric rather than a traditional GPA or letter grade system. This can be monitored via the School tab on the smartphone, which also displays attendance, absences, and schedule information. Completing homework on time and attending school regularly increase the Academic Level, while missing deadlines or skipping classes cause it to decline.
Child Skill Development
Young Zois have access to four exclusive child skills, each capped at level 5. When a Zoi ages up to Teenager, the associated adult skills automatically start at level 5 through what the game calls an "Aptitude" unlock. This makes childhood skill development particularly valuable for long-term character progression.

Child Skill | Activities to Develop | Adult Skills Unlocked at Level 5 |
|---|---|---|
Creativity | Playing instruments (piano, synthesizer, drums), doodling, painting on an easel, playing video games | Performance, Media Production, Art, Instrument |
Motor Development | Treadmill (fastest), yoga mat, playing with basketballs or soccer balls, riding a rocking horse | Fitness |
Social | Talking to other kids at school (best method), conversing with family, interacting with other Zois | Charm, Rhetoric |
Cleaning, writing a journal, completing self-directed tasks, organizing | Housework (other conversions unconfirmed) |
Creativity is one of the most versatile child skills because it converts to four different adult skills. Children who max Creativity before aging up will start with level 5 in Performance, Media Production, Art, and Instrument simultaneously.
After-School Activities
Outside of school hours and homework time, young Zois can participate in various activities to develop their skills. There are no formal clubs or extracurricular programs in the current version, but children have many home-based options:
Practice instruments (piano, synthesizer, drums) for Creativity development
Paint on an easel or doodle at a table for Creativity and future Art skill
Exercise on a treadmill or yoga mat for Motor Development and future Fitness skill
Play with basketballs and soccer balls outdoors for Motor Development
Socialize with friends and family for Social skill development
Clean the house and write in a journal for Responsibility growth
Play video games on a computer for Creativity development
Visit public locations like libraries for reading and socialization
University
After completing High School, Young Adults can optionally attend university. Enrollment is done through the smartphone's School tab by selecting a degree program and clicking Apply. There are no fees or admission requirements.
Available Majors
Major | Skills Boosted |
|---|---|
Multimedia Arts | Media Production, Art, Performance |
Business Administration | Not fully confirmed |
Computer Science | Likely Programming and Critical Thinking |
University Details
Aspect | Details |
|---|---|
Schedule | Classes run 3 days per week, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM |
Homework | University students receive 2 tasks per school day with tight deadlines of only a few hours |
Graduation | Requires attending university at least 6 times, taking approximately 8 to 10 in-game days. Zois also automatically graduate when aging up from Young Adult to Adult |
Diploma | A university diploma appears on the Zoi's profile after graduation |
Career Impact | Currently limited; no career requires a degree, but attending university provides significant skill advancement in the chosen major |
Work Restriction | Zois cannot hold full-time or part-time jobs while enrolled. Starting a job automatically removes them from university |
University locations include Youngsung School in Dowon and Bliss Bay Public School in Bliss Bay. Both offer all three degree programs. Since the game is in early access, university benefits may be expanded in future updates.
Planned School Improvements
The 2026 Roadmap includes several school-related improvements that will expand the education system:
Fundamentals First
Students will automatically equip their backpack when leaving home during school commute time
School bus support for children's commutes, depending on the city
School events such as entrance and graduation ceremonies
Q1 2026
High school campus properties as playable, explorable locations
Q3 2026
Part-time jobs available for teenagers, expanding the Career system to younger life stages
The development team has stated they aim to "create a real school, not a rabbit hole," and are considering teacher interactions, clubs, and after-school programs for future updates.
