Overview
Diving and snorkeling were introduced with the free Island Getaway DLC (v0.3.0, August 2025) and are available exclusively in Cahaya. These activities let Zois explore underwater environments around the three islands, collect underwater items, and encounter marine life. Snorkeling stays near the surface while diving reaches deeper areas. Both require gear purchased from shops on Cahaya and a minimum level of Swimming proficiency.
Requirements
Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
Location | Cahaya coastal waters (all three islands). |
Gear | Snorkeling or diving gear purchased from Barat Beach shops. |
Swimming Skill | Must be built up by practicing in shallow water first. |
Age | Teenager or older. |
Getting Started
To begin, travel to Cahaya and visit the gear rental shops along Barat Beach. Purchase a snorkeling or diving set, then equip it from the Zoi's inventory. Before attempting deeper dives, spend time in shallow water to build Swimming proficiency. Snorkeling is the entry-level activity and lets the Zoi stay near the surface while observing fish and coral. Once the Swimming skill is high enough, the Zoi can switch to diving gear for deeper exploration.
Gear Tiers
Three tiers of diving gear are available, each allowing access to progressively deeper water:
Tier | Depth Access | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Beginner Set | Shallow waters | Entry-level snorkeling gear. Allows surface-level exploration and basic underwater viewing. |
Diver Set | Mid-depth waters | Standard diving equipment. Grants access to coral reefs and mid-range underwater areas. |
Ocean Pro Set | Deep waters | Advanced gear for reaching the deepest dive spots. Required for rare collectibles found in deep zones. |
Higher-tier gear is more expensive but provides access to rarer items and marine life found only in deeper waters. All gear is purchased from the same Barat Beach shops.
Underwater Content
While underwater, Zois encounter various marine life and can pick up collectible items scattered across the ocean floor. Items include shells, coral fragments, starfish, and other underwater treasures. The rarity and value of items increase with depth, so Ocean Pro gear is needed to reach the most valuable finds.
Marine life visible underwater includes tropical fish, sea turtles, rays, and other species. Deeper waters contain larger and rarer creatures. Zois cannot catch or interact with most marine life directly; they serve as environmental scenery.
Coin Exchange Kiosk
Collected underwater items can be exchanged at the Coin Exchange Kiosk located at Sri Lestari Resort on the Resort Island. The kiosk converts dive collectibles into coins or Mew. Rarer items from deeper dives are worth more. This provides a steady income source for Zois who focus on diving as their primary activity in Cahaya.
Collection Notebook
A collection notebook tracks every unique underwater item the Zoi has found. Each discovery is logged with its name and location depth. Completing sections of the notebook contributes to the overall Collection Log progress. Some items are exclusive to specific islands or depth ranges, so thorough exploration of all three Cahaya islands is needed for full completion.
Underwater Hazards
Diving is not without risk. Several hazards can affect the Zoi while underwater:
Hazard | Effect |
|---|---|
Sharks | Can injure or chase the Zoi, forcing a return to the surface. |
Jellyfish | Sting on contact, causing discomfort and a temporary debuff. |
Drowning | If the Zoi stays underwater too long (roughly 3 in-game hours), they risk drowning. A visual warning appears before the time limit. |
Drowning is one of the death types in the game. Keep an eye on the air meter and surface before it runs out. Higher Swimming skill levels may extend underwater time slightly, though exact numbers have not been confirmed.
Accessing Dive Spots
Dive spots are located along the coasts of all three Cahaya islands. Some shallow spots are reachable by wading in from the beach. Deeper spots require renting a boat to reach open water, then diving off the back of the vessel. Water taxis can transport Zois between islands, but rental boats are needed to reach specific deep-water dive locations that are away from shore.
Tips
Build Swimming skill in shallow water before spending Mew on expensive diving gear.
Start with the Beginner Set. Upgrade to Diver and Ocean Pro as you get comfortable and want access to rarer collectibles.
Visit the Coin Exchange Kiosk at Sri Lestari Resort regularly to cash in collected items.
Watch the air meter while diving. Surface before it runs out to avoid drowning.
Rent a boat to reach deep-water dive spots that are inaccessible from shore.
Explore all three islands for unique collectibles. Some items are island-specific.
