Urges
Guide to the Urges system in inZOI: up to four simultaneous short-term impulses influenced by a Zoi's Traits, Values, Preferences, and Ambitions that expire after 12 in-game hours, offering Mew Coins and mood buffs like Concentrated or Tranquil when fulfilled. Covers how Urges work, their connection to Core Values, specific examples, and tips.
Urges are short-term, temporary impulses that Zois experience: desires they want to fulfill within a limited timeframe. When an Urge activates, it presents a specific task for the Zoi to complete, drawn from a pool of activities aligned with their personality, preferences, and current values. Fulfilling an Urge rewards the Zoi with Mew Coins and a positive mood buff. Unfulfilled Urges expire after 12 in-game hours.
How Urges Work
Urges appear at the bottom of the screen during gameplay. Up to four Urges can be active at any given time. Clicking on an active Urge reveals three things: what action must be taken to fulfill it, what caused the Urge to appear, and what skill or mood effect it will have upon completion.
Urges are influenced by a combination of a Zoi's Traits, Values, Preferences, Ambitions, and Desired Lives. A Zoi who loves boxing may get an Urge to work out with a boxing bag. A Zoi who prefers spicy food may get an Urge to eat tteokbokki. A Perfectionist Zoi will frequently get Urges related to cleaning and organizing.
Urges are optional. Players can choose to fulfill them by directing the Zoi to perform the suggested action, or simply ignore them and let them expire. There is no direct penalty for ignoring Urges, but fulfilling them provides meaningful rewards that make the extra effort worthwhile.
Urge Expiration
Each active Urge expires after 12 in-game hours if not completed. Once the timer runs out, the Urge disappears automatically. New Urges can appear throughout the in-game day as the old ones expire or are fulfilled. A Zoi can hold up to four active Urges simultaneously, so players often have multiple options to choose from at any given moment.
Rewards for Completing Urges
Every fulfilled Urge provides two types of reward:
Reward Type | Description |
|---|---|
Mew Coins | Spendable currency earned upon Urge completion. Mew Coins are used in the Meow Store to purchase items like skill growth rate boosters, cold immunity, and other consumable bonuses. |
Mood Buff | A temporary emotional or cognitive bonus matching the nature of the Urge. Common buffs include Concentrated (accelerates skill learning), Tranquil (stabilizes mood and reduces stress), and others tied to the specific activity performed. |
For Zois with an active Values Core Value (a Value that has reached 60+ points), Urges that align with that Core Value yield their Mew Coin reward. This creates an incentive for players to develop their Zoi's Values intentionally, as a strong Core Value turns routine personality-driven behaviors into a consistent source of Mew.
A Concentrated buff is especially valuable when timed with a dedicated skill practice session. Leveling any skill while Concentrated provides noticeably faster progress than the same session in a neutral or negative emotional state.
Examples of Urges
Urge content is personalized based on the Zoi's preferences and personality, but the following examples represent common Urges observed across different Zoi types:
Urge Example | Activity Required |

Urges and Traits
A Zoi's Traits strongly shape which Urge types appear most frequently. Each trait is associated with behaviors that its personality type is drawn to, and Urges reinforce those tendencies.
Trait Category | Common Urge Tendencies |
|---|---|
Meticulous and Thorough (Perfectionist, Social Activist) | Cleaning and organizing the home, sanitizing furniture, fixing broken equipment, correcting disorder |
Wise and Logical (Explorer, Scholar) | Reading books, studying, researching on a tablet, observing the environment |
Competent and Ambitious (Go-Getter, Socialite) | Practicing career-related skills, seeking social recognition, networking interactions |
Kind and Generous (Charmer, Volunteer) | Flirting or expressing affection, helping other Zois in need, attending social gatherings |
Jovial and Cheerful (Adventurer, Entertainer) | Playing games, exercising, exploring new locations, initiating social interactions |

Unique and Creative (Individualist, Visionary) | Creating art, writing, reflecting in solitude, making or viewing creative works |
Diligent and Prudent (Collaborator, Sentinel) | Completing household chores, checking on family members, preparing for future events |

Urges and Life Stages
Urges are available from the Adolescent life stage onward. Younger Zois (Newborns, Toddlers, and Children) do not generate Urges in the standard sense. Their behavioral impulses are expressed through simpler need-driven behaviors. The 2026 development roadmap includes plans for childcare-specific Urges that would appear for adult Zois caring for young children in the household.
Urges and the Smart Zoi System
The Smart Zoi system uses an AI language model to drive autonomous Zoi decision-making. When a Zoi enters Smart Zoi mode, their recent history of fulfilled and unfulfilled Urges is factored into the AI's next-day behavioral planning. A Zoi who consistently fulfills their Urges develops more stable and satisfied autonomous behavior over time.
Tips
Check the active Urge list first thing each in-game morning and try to plan the day's activities around completing at least two or three Urges for reliable Mew income.
Urge-generated Mew Coins go to the Meow Store, a separate currency from regular Mew. Prioritize fulfilling Urges if you want to unlock skill growth boosters from the Meow Store.
Combining an Urge that rewards a Concentrated or Focused buff with an immediate skill practice session is one of the most efficient ways to level skills quickly.
Zois with well-developed Core Values (60+ points in a single Value) get more Mew from Urge fulfillment, making Value development a long-term investment in Urge rewards.
