Instrument skill
Instrument is one of the 13 skills in inZOI, with a maximum level of 10. It's available to Teenagers, Young Adults, Adults, Middle-Aged, and Senior Zois. Playing physical instruments levels the skill faster than composing on a computer, but composing is where the money is.
Available instruments
Four instruments can be purchased through Build Mode and placed in a Zoi's home:
Grand Piano 3,200 Meow
Synthesizer (keyboard), 1,700 Meow
Drums 1,250 Meow
Guitar 549 Meow (acoustic). The Electric Guitar costs 919 Meow.
All four are found in the Hobby category of the Furniture tab. Children can access drum kits and keyboards but not guitars. Practicing on any instrument improves the Instrument skill, though each instrument has its own feel and animation set.
Music composition
Starting at Instrument level 2, a Zoi can sit at a computer and compose original music. Higher skill levels unlock more genres:
Item | Description |
|---|---|
Level 2 | Folk Song, Jingle |
Level 4 | Classical Music, Hip-Hop Beats |
Level 6 | Jazz Music, Movie Score |
Each composition takes time to complete and produces a unique track. Finished compositions can be given a custom name and description, then either kept as personal creations or sold for Meow. Higher skill levels produce better-quality compositions that sell for more.
Selling music
The recommended money-making strategy: play physical instruments to around level 7 or 8 (since instrument practice levels the skill faster than composing), then switch to composing and selling tracks on the computer. At higher levels, each composition sells for a decent amount. You can also sell compositions through the "Can Sell" option on the computer, which lists them for sale similar to how paintings and other creative works are sold.
Sale prices scale with your Zoi's Instrument level. A level 10 composer's Jazz piece will sell for significantly more than a level 3 beginner's Folk Song.
Performance skill
The Performance skill is separate from the Instrument skill but closely related. It covers singing, stand-up comedy, and stage performance. While Instrument is about playing and composing, Performance is about entertaining an audience.
Karaoke
Karaoke venues let Zois sing solo or share duets with other Zois. It costs 5 Meow per session at a karaoke room. Locations include:
Singing at karaoke levels the Performance skill, not the Instrument skill.
Busking
Zois can perform music in public areas (parks, cafes, plazas, and beaches) to earn tips from passersby. Crowded spots tend to pay better. Busking is a way to practice music and earn Meow at the same time, and it was added as a player-requested feature.
Music-related venues
Nuri Plaza (Dowon), has a stage area for public performances, alongside food stalls and photo booths
Amphitheater (Dowon, Harang River Park area): an outdoor performance stage
Starrise Disco (Dowon), nightclub with music and dancing
Club Solo Dance (Dowon), dance club open 6 PM to 2 AM
Elegance Hotel & Nightclub (Bliss Bay), rooftop bar with music on the tallest building in the city
Neon Tides Nightclub (Bliss Bay), entertainment venue in the city center
Idol Trainee career
The music skills tie into the Idol Trainee career path at Adam Entertainment in Dowon: the in-game K-pop industry. This career involves singing, dancing, and performing, and draws on both the Instrument and Performance skills. There's also an Entertainment Planning Team track for Zois who prefer the business side of the industry.
Pro Musician ambition
The Pro Musician ambition has three progression levels:
Buy an instrument and play it 3 times.
Play drums 10 times. Play any instrument while feeling Sentimental.
Max out the Instrument skill (level 10). Play guitar 20 times.
Completing this ambition demonstrates mastery across multiple instruments and requires both dedication and reaching the right emotional states.
