Electric Drill
The Electric Drill is the endgame mining tool in Starsand Island and the final upgrade in the mining tool chain. It mines ore nodes significantly faster than any pickaxe or hammer, making it one of the most impactful tool upgrades in the entire game. The Electric Drill Blueprint is purchased from Zerine's General Store after reaching Senior Crafter certification in the Crafter profession.
How to Unlock
The Electric Drill is a Senior Crafter tool, the fourth of five Crafter profession tiers. You must complete Zerine's Senior Crafter trial quests to unlock the blueprint at the General Store. Reaching Senior Crafter requires significant progression through the earlier tiers (Apprentice, Junior, Intermediate), so the Electric Drill is typically a mid-to-late-game unlock.
Crafting Materials
The Electric Drill is built at the Worktable using high-tier materials. All four components require late-game processing stations and resources gathered from the deeper zones of the Moonlit Forest.
Material | Quantity | How to Obtain |
|---|---|---|
Meteor Plank | 6 | Craft at Cutter III using Lunar Crystals and Premium Wood |
Chip | 5 | Found in late-game treasure chests or crafted from rare components |
Eternal Alloy | 6 | Craft using Flamecore Ingots, Alloys, and Coal at the Furnace |
High Performance Wire Set | 8 | Crafted from processed metals at advanced stations |
The Chainsaw uses the exact same recipe and quantities, so if you want both tools, you will need double the materials: 12 Meteor Plank, 10 Chips, 12 Eternal Alloy, and 16 High Performance Wire Sets total.
How It Works
The Electric Drill operates like a pickaxe but at dramatically higher speed. Walk up to any ore node on the island surface or in the Moonlit Forest and activate the drill. It breaks nodes in fewer hits with faster animation than any previous mining tool. The drill can mine all ore types, including those that require higher-tier tools to access.
Like all tools, the Electric Drill consumes stamina per use. Its high speed means you mine faster but also deplete stamina more quickly per time period compared to slower tools. This tradeoff is addressed by the stamina recovery integration added in patch v0.3.2537.
Stamina Recovery Integration
The March 6, 2026 patch (v0.3.2537) added stamina recovery skill effects to the Electric Drill. Profession skills from the Explorer skill tree now interact with the drill, allowing partial stamina recovery during extended mining sessions.
Before this patch, the Electric Drill's high speed led to rapid stamina depletion during long mining trips. The skill integration addresses this by returning stamina proportional to your Explorer skill investment. With enough Explorer levels, the recovery substantially offsets the drain, making extended sessions in ore-dense zones like Darkwater Shore and Harvest Yard far more sustainable.
Complete Mining Tool Progression
The Electric Drill sits at the top of a six-tier mining tool chain. Each tier unlocks through the Crafter or Explorer profession.
Tool | Crafter Tier | Materials | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
Stone Pickaxe | Apprentice | 2 Stone, 2 Softwood | Starting tool; mines basic stone and soft ores |
Impact Pickaxe | Junior | 10 Copper, 10 Fluorite, 5 Softwood | Can mine Copper Ore; blueprint from Exploration Club |
Impulse Pickaxe | Junior | 4 Hardwood Plank, 4 Iron Sheet, 2 Radiant Crystal, 3 Bronze, 1 Impact Pickaxe | Required to mine harder ores and break Gravecrystals |
Impact Hammer | Junior | 4 Hardwood Plank, 4 Iron Sheet, 2 Radiant Crystal, 3 Bronze, 1 Impulse Pickaxe | AoE swing; fastest way to mine ore clusters |
Blast Hammer | Intermediate | 20 Premium Wood, 5 Alloy, 5 Starflare Crystal, 5 Rubber, 1 Impact Hammer | Can mine Gold and rare ores |
Electric Drill | Senior | 6 Meteor Plank, 5 Chip, 6 Eternal Alloy, 8 High Perf. Wire Set | Endgame tool; fastest mining speed with stamina recovery |
Note that each pickaxe and hammer in the chain requires the previous tool as a component in its recipe. You cannot skip tiers; you must build each tool in sequence.
Material Sources
The Electric Drill's four components come from late-game processing and exploration.
Meteor Plank: Crafted at the Cutter III. Requires Lunar Crystals (mined in deep Moonlit Forest zones) and Premium Wood (harvested from rare trees with the Chainsaw or Sharp Machete).
Chip: Found in late-game treasure chests in the Moonlit Forest or crafted from rare electronic components.
Eternal Alloy: Smelted at the Furnace using Flamecore Ingots, Alloys, and Coal. Flamecore Ingots come from Flamecore Ore found in the deepest forest zones.
High Performance Wire Set: Crafted from processed metals at advanced crafting stations.
Tips
Invest in Explorer profession skills for stamina recovery before relying heavily on the Electric Drill. The synergy makes extended mining sessions significantly more efficient.
The Electric Drill is one of the strongest reasons to push for Senior Crafter certification. Prioritize it if mining is a regular part of your routine.
Bring stamina food on mining trips even with the stamina recovery skills. The recovery offsets but does not fully eliminate stamina drain during intense sessions.
Pair the Electric Drill with Robot Terminals and Mining Robots for a combined manual and automated mining setup in the Moonlit Forest. You handle priority nodes while robots gather in the background.
Plan your material gathering for both the Electric Drill and Chainsaw at the same time. Since they share the same recipe, gathering double materials in one trip is more efficient than making two separate runs.
The Electric Drill is especially powerful in ore-dense areas like Darkwater Shore and Harvest Yard. Save your deep mining trips for after you have the drill to maximize yield per session.
