Profession Skills
The Profession Skills system in Starsand Island lets you spend Starsand Points to unlock passive bonuses and active abilities for each of the five professions. Skills are managed through the Workpedia app on your phone, which becomes available after reaching Apprentice rank in any profession.
Accessing the Workpedia
Open your phone and select the Workpedia app. The app displays five skill trees, one for each profession: Crafter, Farmer, Angler, Rancher, and Explorer. Each tree has multiple skill nodes that can be unlocked by spending Starsand Points. Higher-tier skills require both points and a minimum profession certification level.
Earning Starsand Points
Starsand Points are earned through:
StarNote Achievements: Completing achievements tracked in the StarNote app grants points.
Island Life Ranking: Reaching new Island Life milestones awards points.
Profession Advancement: Each profession tier certification grants a one-time point bonus.
Points are shared across all professions. You do not earn separate points for each profession; instead, you spend from a single pool. This means you must choose which skills to prioritize, at least early on when points are scarce.
Skill Trees Overview
Profession | Skill Focus | Example Skills |
|---|---|---|
Crafter | Crafting speed, material efficiency, tool durability | Reduced crafting time, chance to save materials, improved tool performance |
Farmer | Crop yield, growth speed, watering efficiency | Increased harvest quantity, faster crop growth, sprinkler range boost |
Angler | Catch rate, tension reduction, bait efficiency | Reduced rod tension, increased rare fish chance, bait lasts longer |
Rancher | Animal happiness, product quality, breeding odds | Faster animal mood recovery, improved product grades, better trait inheritance |
Explorer | Combat damage, stamina efficiency, resource drops | Increased weapon damage, reduced stamina drain, better mining yields |
Skill Priority Recommendations
Since points are shared, prioritize skills that match your primary gameplay focus:
If you focus on farming, prioritize crop yield and growth speed skills first. These provide the most consistent daily value.
If you focus on fishing, rod tension reduction is a significant quality-of-life upgrade, especially for deep-sea fishing.
If you focus on exploration and combat, stamina efficiency and damage skills help with extended Moonlit Forest runs.
Crafting speed skills are universally useful since everyone crafts, but they are less impactful than profession-specific yield bonuses.
Ranching skills matter most if you have a large animal operation. For casual ranchers, other trees provide more value per point.
Version 0.3.2537 Changes
The March 6, 2026 patch (v0.3.2537) enhanced the Electric Drill and Chainsaw with stamina recovery-related skill effects. This means Explorer profession skills now interact with advanced tools, recovering stamina during mining and logging activities. This is a significant buff to the Explorer skill tree's value.
Tips
Unlock the Workpedia as early as possible by reaching Apprentice in any profession. The earlier you start spending points, the more benefit you get over time.
Check StarNote Achievements regularly. Many achievements are completed passively through normal gameplay, and unclaimed points are wasted time.
Do not spread points too thin across all five trees early on. Focus on 1-2 professions first, then branch out as you earn more points.
The profession commission changes in v0.3.2537 lowered entry thresholds. This makes it easier to advance professions and unlock higher-tier skill nodes.
Some skills have multiple ranks. Check whether a rank 2 or 3 upgrade provides diminishing returns before investing additional points.
