Hardwood
Hardwood is a Junior-tier wood resource in Starsand Island harvested from Banyan trees, the large dark-barked trees scattered across the island. It is the third tier of wood after Softwood and Bamboo, and is processed into Hardwood Plank at the Cutter II for major mid-game upgrades.

Major Uses
Worktable II upgrade. The Junior Crafter Worktable upgrade uses Hardwood Plank as a major ingredient.
Furnace II upgrade. Hardwood Plank is required for upgrading the Furnace.
Spinning Wheel and Loom. Both textile-processing stations use Hardwood in their construction.
Sewing Table. Required for crafting clothing.
Impact Axe and Impact Hammer. The two Junior tool upgrades each consume Hardwood.
Plume Bow. The mid-tier exploration weapon uses Hardwood.
Mid-game furniture. Many Junior-tier furniture blueprints from Lex Woodworks use Hardwood Plank.
Where to Harvest
Banyan trees are scattered across the surface island, including patches in Hopeland, around Starsand Town, in Green Meadow, and along the routes to Half-Moon Bay. Like other tree species, Banyans regrow every few in-game days after being cut.
Tips
Bottleneck warning. Hardwood is one of the biggest mid-game bottlenecks. The Worktable II upgrade alone consumes a large stockpile.
Build the Impact Axe early. Without the Impact Axe, you cannot harvest a single Banyan tree. The blueprint is sold by Zerine for 500 Coins at Junior Crafter rank.
Coal alternative. If you run low on Coal during deep-forest mining, Hardwood burned at the Charcoal Kiln produces Coal for Furnace II smelting.
Pair with Cutter II. Cutter II runs passively. Build it as soon as Junior Crafter unlocks so Hardwood Plank production starts queuing immediately.
