Overview
The Contribution system in Crimson Desert is a region-based reputation mechanic that tracks your standing with each major faction across the continent of Pywel. Every helpful action you perform within a region, from completing quests to giving alms to beggars, earns Contribution experience points that fill up a progress bar. Each time the bar reaches 100 points, you gain one Contribution level, which awards one spendable Contribution Point.
Contribution Points are spent at regional Contribution Shops to purchase unique equipment, cosmetics, and faction-themed items. Both your Contribution level and the items available at the shop are region-specific, so you cannot bank points in one region and spend them in another.
How Contribution Works
Earning Contribution XP
You can earn Contribution experience points through a wide variety of activities within each region.
Activity | Contribution XP | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Completing faction quests | High (varies by quest) | The fastest and most reliable source of Contribution XP |
Turning in bounties | High | Short objectives with generous payouts |
Completing side quests | Moderate to High | Any quest tied to a regional faction awards Contribution |
Clearing hostile camps | Moderate | Defeating bandits and enemies at strongholds |
Moderate | Repeatable tasks from regional NPCs | |
Giving alms to beggars | +1 XP per copper given | Cheap but very slow; give 1 Copper to a beggar for 1 XP |
Freeing slaves and captives | Moderate | Found during certain quests and world encounters |
Losing Contribution
Certain criminal actions reduce your Contribution with a region. Stealing from strongboxes at the bank deducts 5 Contribution points per item stolen. Attacking faction members or committing crimes in a region can also lower your standing. Be mindful of your actions if you are trying to build reputation with a particular faction.
Region-Specific Tracking
Each region in Pywel tracks Contribution independently. Your standing with Hernand has no effect on your standing with Demeniss or Pailune. This means you need to invest time in each region separately if you want to unlock the Contribution Shop items in every area.
Contribution Shops
How They Work
Each region has a dedicated Contribution Shop where you can spend your accumulated Contribution Points on exclusive equipment. The shopkeeper only appears or becomes accessible after you have reached a certain point in the main story for that region. Items in the shop cost varying amounts of Contribution Points, with cosmetic items generally being cheaper and powerful equipment or prestige items costing significantly more.
Hernand Contribution Shop
The Hernand Contribution Shop is located inside Hernand Castle. Enter through a door to the right of the main path to find Haldwin, the vendor who exchanges items for Contribution Points.

Tips for Earning Contribution Quickly
Focus on faction quests and bounties. These are short objectives that reward a large amount of Contribution XP compared to the time investment.
Complete commissions in each region. Commissions are repeatable and provide steady Contribution gains alongside other rewards like inventory bags.
Avoid stealing from banks or strongboxes if you care about Contribution. Each stolen item costs 5 Contribution points, which can quickly undo hours of progress.
Giving alms to beggars is technically the cheapest method (1 Copper = 1 XP), but it is extremely slow and should only be used to top off a level when you are close to the next threshold.
Clearing enemy camps and bandit strongholds throughout the region provides moderate Contribution alongside combat experience and loot.
Save up for the prestige items like the Demenissian Signet (65 points) and Crown (70 points) if you want the ultimate late-game cosmetics.
Faction Banners
One of the most unique items available in Contribution Shops is the Contribution Banner. These are massive flags representing the regional faction that can be physically wielded as two-handed weapons in combat. While not the strongest weapons in the game, they are an impressive visual statement and demonstrate your dedication to a particular faction. Each banner costs 30 Contribution Points.
