Overview
Demeniss Commissions are a category of Faction Quests in Crimson Desert given by various NPCs throughout the Kingdom of Demeniss. Similar to Hernand Commissions, these quests involve helping local residents with tasks ranging from resource gathering and item delivery to investigation and problem-solving. The Demeniss region operates its own independent Contribution system, meaning reputation earned here is tracked separately from Hernand and every other region on the continent.
Demeniss remains hostile to the player through the end of Chapter 7. Once Kliff begins Chapter 8: Blood Coronation, the main story brings him to the Kingdom of Demeniss and he can enter the region freely. Commission givers then begin appearing throughout the capital city, surrounding settlements, and religious institutions such as Reventine Monastery. Because the region only opens partway through the campaign, Demeniss Commissions represent mid-to-late-game content with correspondingly valuable rewards.

Commission Structure
Demeniss Commissions follow the same basic format as Hernand Commissions: speak with an NPC who has a problem, complete the task, and return for your reward. However, Demeniss commissions tend to reflect the region's more political and militaristic character. While Hernand commissions often involve tradespeople and shopkeepers, Demeniss commissions frequently involve nobles, soldiers, monks, and court functionaries.
Common commission types in Demeniss include:
Resource Gathering: Collecting specific ingredients, herbs, or materials for NPCs. The region's terrain introduces unique gathering challenges compared to Hernand.
Delivery and Escort: Transporting goods or accompanying NPCs between locations within the Demeniss territory.
Investigation: Examining evidence, questioning witnesses, or uncovering political conspiracies involving the kingdom's power vacuum.
Combat: Eliminating threats, clearing enemy strongholds, or dealing with dangerous creatures in the Demeniss wilderness.
Diplomacy: Mediating disputes between rival factions within Demeniss. This reflects the kingdom's fractured political landscape.
Confirmed Commissions
Below is a list of confirmed Demeniss commission quests with their known details. Community documentation for this region is still ongoing, and additional commissions will be added as they are verified.

Quest Giver | A young monk at Coalvale Workshop (east of Unicorn Cliff) |
Prerequisite | Complete The Unreachable Village (Pororin Forest Guardians questline) |
Rewards |
This commission is one of the first Demeniss faction quests most players encounter. A young monk at Coalvale Workshop, located east of Unicorn Cliff, asks Kliff to retrieve a rare Mystical Pine Mushroom from a cave in the Pororin Forest area. The quest is formally titled "Mushrooms Growing Among Poisons" in the quest log, while the sub-task of finding the mushroom is tracked as "Young Monk's Request."
Walkthrough
Speak with the Young Monk at Coalvale Workshop near the well. He explains that he needs a Mystical Pine Mushroom from a dangerous cave.
Travel to Pororin Forest and locate the cave entrance. The cave is situated northeast of Pororin village along a riverbank, near a flower post under a tree.
Navigate the cave carefully. Red mushrooms inside the cave release sleeping gas that will knock Kliff unconscious if he gets too close. Use a bow to destroy them from a safe distance. Each red mushroom takes roughly four regular arrow hits to destroy, though fully charged shots are more efficient.
Retrieve the Mystical Pine Mushroom from the floor at the deepest part of the cave, near the left rear wall. Pick it up to complete the objective.
Return to the Young Monk at Coalvale Workshop to deliver the mushroom and collect your rewards.
Important: Before attempting this quest, you must complete "The Unreachable Village" from the Pororin Forest Guardians questline. Without it, the Shai residents will knock Kliff unconscious and relocate him to a remote camp whenever he approaches Pororin village, making the cave inaccessible.
Toll of Demeniss
The Toll of Demeniss is a special faction quest that tasks the player with ringing a bell at the top of the tallest clocktower in the capital city of Demeniss. This quest is part of the broader Toll of Pywel series, which involves ringing eight bells scattered across the entire continent to reveal the world map. Climbing to the top of the clocktower requires platforming: Kliff must scale the tower's exterior and hang from the flag to reach the bell.
After ringing the bell, a Shai Resident appears and reveals all nearby points of interest in the surrounding area, clearing the fog of war for the Demeniss portion of the map. This also unlocks Knowledge Entries for the region.
Related Faction Quests in the Demeniss Region
In addition to Demeniss Commissions, several other faction quest categories operate within or around the Demeniss region. Each belongs to a different faction and has its own quest givers and storylines, but all contribute to the player's understanding of the region's political landscape. These are tracked separately from Demeniss Commissions in the quest journal.
Faction | Example Quest | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Southern Demeniss ducal house opposing the power seizure. House Wells quests involve investigating matters connected to the Duke's household. | ||
Rewards include Staglord's Shield and an Abyss Artifact. | ||
One of the Demeniss noble houses with its own faction questline. | ||
Varies | Additional noble house faction quests in the Demeniss region. | |

Prerequisite for Mushrooms Growing Among Poisons. Rewards Palmar Pill x1, Astrid's Lesser Elixir x1. | ||
Late-game quests with Abyss Artifact and Vessel of Dark Pursuit rewards. |
House Azerian (the count's house of Demeniss opposing Caliburn and Bastier), House Byron (intelligence network known as "the Eyes of Demeniss"), and House Marshell (Grand General Bastier's most active patron) also play significant roles in the region's politics, though their faction quests are encountered primarily through the main story.
Demeniss Contribution System
The Contribution system in Demeniss works independently from every other region on the continent. You can be a beloved hero in Hernand and a despised criminal in Demeniss simultaneously, because each region tracks your actions on its own. The consequences of your reputation, whether positive or negative, are entirely localized.
Contribution is earned by completing commissions, faction quests, liberating strongholds, freeing captives, and giving alms to beggars (one copper coin grants one Contribution XP). It is lost through criminal activity: theft costs 5 points per stolen item even when undetected, while assault and murder of innocent NPCs costs 30 points. Rebuilding a damaged Demeniss reputation takes many completed quests, so avoiding crime in the region is strongly recommended.
Demeniss Contribution Shops
Unlike Hernand, which concentrates its Contribution vendor inside a single castle tower, Demeniss spreads its rewards across three separate shops in the capital city and castle. Each location carries different inventory.
Castle Shop (Main)
The primary Contribution shop is located on the second floor of Demeniss Castle. However, the guards at the front gate will not let Kliff walk through. To reach the vendor, you must scale the exterior castle battlements from outside the walls, jump down into the interior courtyard, then make your way up to the second floor. Multiple guides describe this approach as requiring "serious acrobatics." The castle shop carries the highest-tier ceremonial armor.
Cathedral Shop
Located in the cathedral in the southeastern part of the city. This shop is accessible without any special requirements and carries accessories including the Demeniss Cathedral Ring and Demeniss Cathedral Necklace.
Bank District Shop
Located in a building near the Bank in Demeniss. This shop is also accessible without climbing and carries additional equipment options.
Contribution Shop Inventory
The following items are available across the three Demeniss Contribution shops. Contribution points are earned exclusively through Demeniss-region activities and cannot be transferred from other regions.

70 | Accessory |
The Demenissian Contribution Banner is a massive faction flag that functions as a two-handed weapon in combat. The Demenissian Signet (65 points) and Demenissian Crown (70 points) are the most expensive items and serve as late-game prestige accessories. Since these items cost Contribution points rather than silver, they are an excellent way to upgrade your loadout without spending currency.
Comparison to Hernand Commissions
Players who have already completed Hernand Commissions will find Demeniss Commissions familiar in structure but different in scope and setting.

How to Access Demeniss Commissions
Demeniss Commissions become available when the main story reaches Chapter 8: Blood Coronation. The Demeniss region is hostile through the end of Chapter 7, meaning guards will attack Kliff on sight if he enters before this point. Once Chapter 8 begins, the story brings Kliff to the Kingdom of Demeniss and he can move through the city freely.
Complete Chapter 7 to remove the hostility barrier. Do not attempt to enter Demeniss before the story takes you there, as guards will be aggressive and commission NPCs will not appear.
Ring the Toll of Demeniss at the tallest clocktower in the capital. This clears the fog of war for the entire region and reveals points of interest on your map, making it much easier to locate commission givers.
Explore the full city thoroughly. Commission givers are spread across multiple districts. Check the lower city, upper city, castle exterior, religious buildings, and the surrounding countryside including Reventine Monastery and Coalvale Workshop.
Complete the Pororin Forest Guardians questline if you have not already. The "Unreachable Village" quest is a prerequisite for the Mushrooms Growing Among Poisons commission.
Return often. New commissions may appear as the story progresses or as you complete existing ones.
Tips
Plan your castle approach. The Contribution shop inside Demeniss Castle requires climbing the outside battlements and dropping into the courtyard. Scout the climbing route before attempting it with a full inventory, because heavy plate armor and banners will destroy your carrying capacity.
Balance commissions across regions. Since Contribution is tracked per region, spending all your time in Demeniss means your Hernand or Pailune reputation stays flat. Alternate between regions if you want broad access to all Contribution shops.
Complete the Pororin prerequisite early. The Unreachable Village quest from the Pororin Forest Guardians unlocks access to the area needed for Mushrooms Growing Among Poisons. Finishing it before you start Demeniss Commissions saves backtracking.
Bring a bow into Porin Cave. The red mushrooms in the Mushrooms Growing Among Poisons quest release sleeping gas. Destroy them from range with arrows (roughly four hits each) rather than running through the gas clouds.
Avoid crime in Demeniss. Theft costs 5 Contribution points per item and murder costs 30 points. Criminal actions in Demeniss only affect your Demeniss Contribution, but rebuilding a damaged reputation takes many completed quests. Giving copper coins to beggars (one XP per coin) is a last resort for recovering lost points.
Check all three Contribution shops. The castle, cathedral, and bank district shops each carry different inventory. The cathedral sells the Cathedral Ring (25 points) and Cathedral Necklace (27 points), while the castle shop has the ceremonial plate sets.
Explore related faction quests. House Wells, House Serkis, House Alfonso, and the Antumbra Order all have faction quests in the Demeniss region. Completing these alongside commissions provides a deeper understanding of the region's political conflicts and earns additional rewards.
Use commissions to fund other activities. Material rewards from Demeniss commissions can be sold or used for crafting. Treat commissions as a steady income source while exploring the region.
The Contribution Banner is a weapon. The Demenissian Contribution Banner (30 points) is not just a cosmetic item. It functions as a two-handed weapon in combat. It is heavy but surprisingly effective and very entertaining to wield.
