Overview
Opportunity Cards (also called chance cards by the community) are random workplace events that pop up during rabbit hole career shifts. While a Zoi is working off-screen at a rabbit hole job, the game occasionally presents a workplace dilemma with a brief description and a set of response options. The player has 30 seconds to choose a response before the card expires. The v0.4.0 update (October 2025) added 144 new opportunity cards for careers in Dowon and Bliss Bay.
How They Work
During a rabbit hole work shift, the game may display an opportunity card notification. The card:
Describes a workplace situation or dilemma (for example, a coworker asking for help, a problem that needs solving, or a social conflict at the office).
Presents two or more response options for the player to choose from.
Gives the player 30 seconds to make a decision.
Applies the consequences of the chosen response (which can be positive, neutral, or negative).
If the player does not respond within 30 seconds, a default outcome is applied automatically.
Where They Appear
Opportunity cards are exclusive to rabbit hole careers. These are jobs where the Zoi disappears into a taxi, travels off-screen to work, and returns when the shift ends. The player cannot see inside the workplace or directly control the Zoi during the shift. Opportunity cards are the primary way the player interacts with their Zoi's work experience during rabbit hole shifts.
Active careers (where the player controls the Zoi directly at the workplace) do not use opportunity cards. Instead, active career shifts present a task list in the top-left corner that the player must complete within the time limit.
Effects on Career Progression
The choices made on opportunity cards can affect the Zoi's career in several ways:
Career bar progress: Good choices may add a small boost to the career progress bar, helping reach the next promotion slightly faster.
Relationship effects: Some cards involve social situations with coworkers. Choices may improve or harm workplace relationships.
Mood effects: Responses can trigger positive or negative emotions for the rest of the work day.
Income: The v0.4.0 update also introduced a Side Job rabbit-hole event that lets Zois earn extra Meow during their shift, potentially for loan repayment.
Opportunity cards add variety to the rabbit hole experience but are not the primary driver of promotions. Simply showing up to work consistently is more important for filling the career bar. Cards provide flavor and small adjustments rather than dramatic career swings.

Card Count
The v0.4.0 update (October 2025) added 144 new opportunity cards specifically for careers in Dowon and Bliss Bay. Cahaya careers (added in the v0.3.0 Island Getaway DLC) are all rabbit hole jobs, but it is not confirmed whether the 144 cards from v0.4.0 also apply to Cahaya careers or if they are limited to the original two cities.
Example Scenarios
Opportunity cards present career-specific dilemmas. Some verified examples:
Lawyer career: "You are defending your client, but the court is holding firm, and you are starting to think it is hopeless." The player must choose a response with limited information about case details and potential sentences.
Esports career: A Zoi finds themselves in a 1-versus-5 situation in a mostly lost game. The options are whether to give up and save mental energy, or fight it out for a small chance of victory.
General workplace: Choices like whether to console a struggling teammate or step up and carry harder.
Trial System Cards
The v0.5.0 update (December 2025) extended the opportunity card mechanic to the Trial and Justice System. When a Zoi faces trial after being arrested for a crime, the preparation phase uses opportunity cards where players answer questions. The results of trial preparation influence which cards appear during the actual trial. Choosing correct answers during the trial can help reduce the sentence. Hiring an elite lawyer improves the odds of favorable cards. This is a separate use of the card system from regular career opportunity cards.
Tips
Pay attention to opportunity card pop-ups during rabbit hole shifts. While they do not make or break a career, consistently making good choices provides small cumulative benefits.
The 30-second timer is generous. Read the situation description carefully before choosing a response.
If you miss a card (or let the timer expire), the consequences are typically mild. Do not worry about a single missed card.
Rabbit hole promotions are slower than active career promotions regardless of card performance. If promotion speed is important, consider switching to an active career instead.
Keep your Zoi's needs satisfied before work. A Zoi who arrives at work in a good mood may receive more favorable card options.
