Hydrangeas overview
Hydrangeas are a group of four flowers in Starsand Island that serve primarily as high-value NPC gifts. They come in four colors.Blue, Light Blue, Pink, and Purple, and can be found growing wild across the island or cultivated through cross-breeding. Hydrangeas are among the most universally liked gifts in the game, with nearly every NPC having at least one hydrangea color they appreciate.

Wild harvest locations
Hydrangeas grow wild in four areas across the island. They respawn every few in-game days after being picked. Visit these locations regularly to maintain a stockpile:

Seasonal availability
Hydrangeas only grow during Summer and Autumn. During Spring and Winter, wild hydrangeas do not spawn and planted hydrangeas will not bloom. Plan your harvesting and stockpiling accordingly:
Summer: Peak blooming season. All four colors available in abundance. Best time to harvest in bulk
Autumn: Still available but spawn rates decrease compared to Summer. Last chance before Winter
Winter/Spring: No hydrangeas grow outdoors. The Greenhouse (Expert Farmer) can grow hydrangeas year-round if you have seeds
Cross-breeding hydrangeas
You can grow hydrangeas on your farm and cross-breed them to produce different colors. This uses the flower cross-breeding system:
Plant two different hydrangea colors with an empty plot between them
Apply Nutrient Soil IV to the empty plot for a 15% pollination boost
Wait for the bloom cycle. The empty plot has a chance to produce a new hydrangea of a different color
The resulting color depends on the two parent colors
Cross-breeding rules:
Blue + Pink = chance of Light Blue or Purple offspring
Blue + Light Blue = chance of Purple offspring
Pink + Light Blue = chance of Purple offspring
Same color + Same color = always produces the same color (no hybrid)
Purple Hydrangeas are the hardest to obtain through cross-breeding. Using Nutrient Soil IV on the empty plot significantly increases your success rate. Hydrangea seeds become available at Senior Farmer rank from the Happiness Seed Shop.
NPC gift preferences
Hydrangeas are one of the most efficient gift categories because so many NPCs like them. Each hydrangea color gives +10 affection points for NPCs who like it and +15 affection points for NPCs who love it. Below is the complete preference table:

Blue Hydrangea is the safest universal gift. It is liked by the most NPCs of any single item in the game
Stockpile hydrangeas during Summer and Autumn. Keep 20-30 of each color in a chest for year-round gifting
The Flower Corridor is the best farming location. It spawns all four colors and is easy to access
Moonlit Forest has the only wild Purple Hydrangea spawns outside the Flower Corridor. Bring weapons for the enemies inside
Cross-breeding with Nutrient Soil IV is the most reliable way to get Purple Hydrangeas in quantity
Hydrangeas also sell well at shops. Purple Hydrangeas sell for the highest price of the four colors
Remember the Greenhouse bypasses the Summer/Autumn restriction, letting you grow hydrangeas in any season
