Sagewood
Sagewood is one of the two town elders of Starsand Island, alongside Hattie. He is the father of Graminova, who runs the Happiness Seed Shop and mentors the Farmer profession, and the husband of Matilda. The three of them form the island's most prominent farming family, and Sagewood represents the older generation of farmers who helped shape the community long before the player arrives.
Sagewood is a non-romanceable character. His friendship level caps at 4 hearts, and reaching 3 hearts unlocks access to his home, which contains a treasure chest.

Personality
Sagewood is a quiet, dependable man who values the intuitive knowledge that comes from a lifetime of working the land. Rather than relying on modern scientific metrics, he trusts his hands and instincts when it comes to soil, seeds, and weather. He expresses his love for the island through consistent, humble acts of care. He is not one for speeches or grand gestures; instead, he shows affection by maintaining the island's paths and fences without asking for recognition, viewing this work as an extension of caring for his home.
Location
Sagewood lives in a house located just to the left of Graminova's garden in Starsand Town. There is a grey outbuilding (shed) near his property that also contains a treasure chest (chest #16 in the island's numbered chest list). During the day, he can usually be found around the family's residential area, tending to tasks in the garden or relaxing near the house.
Once you have interacted with Sagewood at least once, you can track his location at any time using the phone's Social app. Tap his profile and select Locate or Follow to see his position on the map.

During the Spring Festival, Sagewood stays close to home so the player can find him easily for the gift delivery quest.
Role in the Spring Festival
Sagewood plays a direct role in the Spring Festival event. During the quest, Solara gives the player two gifts to deliver to the island's elders. Sagewood and Hattie are the two recipients. Both can be located on the map during the festival, typically hanging around their respective homes. Delivering the gifts to both elders completes this portion of the Spring Festival quest chain.

The entire farming family (Sagewood, Matilda, and Graminova) shares a fondness for crops and farm produce. If you are growing Water Spinach or Leek on your farm, those make reliable daily gifts for any of them.
Friendship and Treasure Chest
Because Sagewood is non-romanceable, his friendship caps at 4 hearts. The main reward for building his friendship is access to the treasure chest inside his home, which unlocks at 3 hearts. This follows the same pattern as all non-romanceable NPCs on the island: reach 3 hearts and you gain permission to enter their bedroom, where a chest is waiting.
The fastest way to raise Sagewood's friendship is to give him a loved gift every day and chat with him. Moonflower is easy to find in the wild, and Cucumber and Peanut are early crops that Sagewood loves, so building his friendship requires little effort.
Family and Relationships
Graminova is Sagewood's son. He inherited his parents' passion for agriculture, studied agronomy, and returned to the island to run the Happiness Seed Shop. Graminova also serves as the mentor for the Farmer profession, teaching the player how to grow crops, manage soil quality, and use fertilizers.
Matilda is Sagewood's wife. She can be found in the same residential area near the seed shop and shares his love for farm-grown gifts. The couple lives together in the house to the left of Graminova's garden. Both Sagewood and Matilda love Moonflower, making it a convenient gift to keep on hand for both of them.
Hattie is the other town elder. She and Sagewood share the elder role and are both involved in the Spring Festival gift delivery quest. Hattie lives elsewhere in Starsand Town near Soluna Cafe.
Tips
Cucumber and Moonflower are the most accessible loved gifts for Sagewood. Keep a stack on hand to gift him whenever you pass through town.
Do not give Sagewood Veggie Bait. It is his only hated gift and costs a significant amount of affection.
If you are working on the Spring Festival quest, check the map for Sagewood's icon near his house. He does not wander far during the event.
The grey shed near Sagewood's house contains a separate treasure chest that you can open without any friendship requirement. Check the shed before you even start gifting him.
If you are trying to friendship-farm the whole family at once, grow Moonflowers or Cucumbers. Sagewood loves both, and the rest of the family likes or loves them too.
Sagewood's birthday is Summer 8. Giving a loved gift on his birthday grants bonus affection, so save a Cucumber or Moonflower for that day.
