Overview
Magnetite is a mid-to-late-game ore found exclusively in the Moonlit Forest. It is the key ingredient for crafting Magnets, which are required components in advanced devices like the Energy Converter. Players typically first encounter Magnetite when Zerine asks them to craft an Energy Converter as part of the Crafter profession quest line.
There are two ways to obtain Magnetite: mining translucent white ore deposits with an Impact Hammer, and processing Uncommon Ore Chunks through the Ore Analyzer. Both methods require progress into the Moonlit Forest zones.
How to Get Magnetite
Method 1: Mining Deposits in the Glintortle Boss Arena
The most reliable source of Magnetite is mining the translucent, white-colored deposits in the Glintortle boss arena. This zone sits between Mural Valley and the Harvest Yard inside the Moonlit Forest. The ore has a distinctive look: light white, slightly translucent, and almost sparkling against the darker rock formations nearby.
Several Magnetite deposits spawn inside the boss zone, and you do not need to defeat Glintortle to collect them. You can dodge the boss's attacks and keep mining. Because Glintortle respawns every time you leave the Moonlit Forest and return, you can repeat this loop as often as you like. A full run through the arena typically yields around 50 Magnetite.
Method 2: Ore Analyzer Processing
Magnetite can also drop as a processed result from Uncommon Ore Chunks run through the Ore Analyzer. Uncommon Ore Chunks do not come from regular mining nodes. Instead, look for Soil Mounds near Spiritshade River, deeper in the Moonlit Forest. Interacting with these mounds rewards you with Uncommon Ore Chunks.
Take the chunks back to your base and load them into the Ore Analyzer. Magnetite is one of several possible outputs, so not every batch will produce it. Processing takes a while, especially with multiple chunks queued, so handle other tasks and check back later.
Method 3: Rare Enemy Drop
The frog enemy located across the bubble bridge before the Mural Valley gate can occasionally drop a single Magnetite on defeat. This is not a reliable farming method, but it is worth knowing about if you happen to be fighting through that area.
Tool Requirements
You need an Impact Hammer (or a higher-tier pickaxe) to harvest Magnetite ore deposits. The Impact Hammer blueprint can be purchased from Zerine's General Store once you have advanced to the appropriate Crafter profession rank. Building one requires the following materials:

Prerequisites
Before you can access the areas where Magnetite spawns, you need to complete several progression steps:
Progress through Zephyria's Exploration quest line at the Exploration Club until you unlock the Depths of Moonlit Forest.
Build or purchase an Impact Hammer (requires Junior Crafter rank or higher at Zerine's General Store).
Reach the Glintortle boss arena, which sits between Mural Valley and the Harvest Yard.
Crafting Uses
Magnetite's primary use is smelting Magnets, which are then used in advanced crafting recipes.
Recipe | Station | Ingredients |
|---|---|---|
Magnet | 4 Magnetite + 1 Coal |
Magnets are a critical component in recipes like the Energy Converter, which converts crystals into power components needed for the most advanced items in the game. The Energy Converter is typically required as part of the Senior Crafter tier of the Crafter profession quest line.
Farming Route
The fastest and most consistent farming route for Magnetite follows this loop:
Fast-travel to the Moonlit Forest camp nearest to the Glintortle arena.
Enter the Glintortle boss arena and mine all the translucent white ore deposits along the walls. You can dodge the boss rather than fight it.
While in the Moonlit Forest, stop by Spiritshade River and dig up any Soil Mounds you find for Uncommon Ore Chunks.
Return to your base, smelt the Magnetite into Magnets at Furnace II, and load the Uncommon Ore Chunks into the Ore Analyzer.
Ore nodes regenerate every in-game day, so you can repeat this loop every morning.
Tips
Gather large batches of Uncommon Ore Chunks before returning to your Ore Analyzer. This minimizes travel time and improves overall production speed.
Magnetite and Ancient Precision Parts are among the exclusive drops from the Ore Analyzer, so keep processing chunks regularly.
Ore deposits in the Glintortle arena respawn each time you leave and re-enter the Moonlit Forest, making it infinitely farmable.
Stock up on Coal ahead of time so you can immediately smelt Magnets when you return from a mining run.
If you are low on Magnetite and need it quickly, focus on the Glintortle arena rather than the Ore Analyzer, since the arena produces guaranteed drops while the Analyzer output is random.
