Spirit Cubes
Complete guide to Spirit Cubes in Starsand Island. Covers how to obtain Spirit Cube Fragments from the Ore Analyzer, crafting recipes for Spirit Cube I, II, and III, what each tier is used for (Realm Box, Waverider, Robot Terminal, Teleporter), and efficient farming strategies.
Spirit Cubes
Spirit Cubes are tiered crafting materials in Starsand Island that serve as key progression items from mid-game through the endgame. They come in three tiers (I, II, III), each requiring the previous tier as an ingredient. Spirit Cubes are essential for crafting the Realm Box (shared storage), the Waverider vehicle, the Robot Terminal for automated resource gathering, and the Teleporter for free fast travel. The entire crafting chain starts with Spirit Cube Fragments, which can only be obtained by processing Ore Chunks through the Ore Analyzer.
Spirit Cube Fragments
Spirit Cube Fragments are the base material for all Spirit Cubes. They cannot be mined directly from ore veins, purchased from shops, or crafted at any station. The only way to obtain them is through the Ore Analyzer.
How to Get Spirit Cube Fragments
Mine ore veins or dig up Soil Mounds in the Moonlit Forest to collect Uncommon or Rare Ore Chunks
Place the Ore Chunks into your Ore Analyzer (crafted at Worktable: 8 Hardwood + 2 Copper Sheets)
Wait for the analysis to complete
Collect the randomized output, which may include Spirit Cube Fragments
Important: Common Ore Chunks do not produce Spirit Cube Fragments. Only Uncommon and Rare Ore Chunks have a chance to yield them. Rare Ore Chunks have a significantly higher chance and can sometimes produce multiple fragments from a single chunk.
Ore Chunk Sources
Chunk Type | Where to Find | Spirit Cube Fragment Chance |
|---|---|---|
Common Ore Chunk | Early Moonlit Forest (Copper, Tin, Quartz, Fluorite veins) | None (does not drop fragments) |
Uncommon Ore Chunk | Spiritshade River Soil Mounds, mid-forest ore veins (Iron, Gold, Primorite, Aurorite) | Low to moderate |
Rare Ore Chunk | Deepest forest sections (Moonstone, Flamecore, Oilstone veins) | High (can yield multiple fragments) |
Soil Mounds along the banks of Spiritshade River and in Azure Bay are the most reliable source for Uncommon Ore Chunks. Digging these mounds with your pickaxe yields chunks more consistently than mining ore veins. The Impact Hammer is required to access the deeper forest zones where Rare Ore Chunks are found.
Crafting Recipes
Each Spirit Cube tier requires the previous tier as input, creating a linear progression chain:
Spirit Cube I
Material | Quantity | Source |
|---|---|---|
Spirit Cube Fragment | 4 | Ore Analyzer (Uncommon/Rare Ore Chunks) |
Bronze | 2 | Furnace (1 Charcoal + 1 Tin Ingot + 1 Copper Ingot) |
Crafted at Worktable II. Spirit Cube I is the entry point of the chain and the first tier you craft during the Intermediate Crafter certification quest.
Spirit Cube II
Material | Quantity | Source |
|---|---|---|
Spirit Cube I | 2 | Crafted (see above) |
Magnet | 1 | Furnace II (4 Magnetite + 1 Coal) |
Crafted at Worktable II. Each Spirit Cube II consumes two Spirit Cube I, which means 8 Spirit Cube Fragments per Spirit Cube II.
Spirit Cube III
Material | Quantity | Source |
|---|---|---|
Spirit Cube II | 2 | Crafted (see above) |
Alloy | 2 | Furnace II (1 Gold Ingot + 1 Iron Ingot + 1 Copper Ingot + 1 Coal) |
Crafted at Worktable III. A single Spirit Cube III requires 4 Spirit Cube I (via 2 Spirit Cube II), which translates to 16 Spirit Cube Fragments total. This makes fragment farming one of the most time-intensive activities in the game.
Total Fragment Requirements
Here is how many Spirit Cube Fragments each final product ultimately requires:
Item | Spirit Cube Tier | Cubes Needed | Total Fragments |
|---|---|---|---|
Realm Box | I | 3 Spirit Cube I | 12 |
Realm Box Upgrade 1 (48 slots) | I | 5 Spirit Cube I | 20 |
Bug Trap | II | 2 Spirit Cube II | 16 |
Waverider | II | 2 Spirit Cube II | 16 |
Robot Terminal | II | 3 Spirit Cube II | 24 |
Teleporter | III | 1 Spirit Cube III | 16 |
If you want to craft one of everything (Realm Box, Waverider, Robot Terminal, and Teleporter), you need a minimum of 68 Spirit Cube Fragments. Multiple Teleporters for a fast travel network require 16 fragments each, pushing the total much higher.
What Spirit Cubes Are Used For
Spirit Cube I Uses
Item | Cubes Required | Other Key Materials | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
Realm Box | 3 | 5 Alloy + 5 Starflare Core + 6 Hardwood Plank | Shared portable storage accessible from anywhere |
Realm Box Upgrade 1 | 5 | 3 Starflare Crystal | Expands Realm Box to 48 slots |
The Realm Box is one of the most useful items in the game. It provides portable storage that you can access from any location, eliminating the need to return home to deposit items during long exploration trips.
Spirit Cube II Uses
Item | Cubes Required | Other Key Materials | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
Waverider | 2 | 1 Skateboard + 5 Flamecore Ingot + 1 Solid-State Battery | Water vehicle for fast ocean/lake travel |
Bug Trap | 2 | Additional materials | Catches insects automatically |
Realm Box Upgrade 2 | 5 | 6 Starflare Crystal | Expands Realm Box to 72 slots |
The Waverider is crafted as part of the Senior Crafter certification quest. It is a personal watercraft that allows fast travel across water, significantly speeding up trips to coastal fishing spots and island destinations.
Spirit Cube III Uses
Item | Cubes Required | Other Key Materials | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
Teleporter | 1 | 4 Eternal Alloy + 1 Perpetual Reactor | Free fast travel between placed locations |
Mining Robot | Varies | Additional endgame materials | Automated mining in the Moonlit Forest |
Logging Robot | Varies | Additional endgame materials | Automated wood gathering |
Gathering Robot | Varies | Additional endgame materials | Automated resource collection |
The Teleporter is the crown jewel of the Spirit Cube chain. Unlike Bus Stops (which cost Coins per trip), Teleporters provide free instant travel between any two placed Teleporter locations. Place them at your home, near shops, at the Moonlit Forest entrance, and at Delphin's outpost for maximum coverage.
Crafter Profession Integration
Spirit Cubes are deeply woven into the Crafter profession quest line:
Crafter Tier | Spirit Cube Requirement |
|---|---|
Intermediate Crafter | Craft a Spirit Cube I (part of the certification quest) |
Senior Crafter | Craft a Waverider (requires 2 Spirit Cube II) |
Expert Crafter | Craft a Robot Terminal (requires 3 Spirit Cube II) and a Teleporter (requires 1 Spirit Cube III) |
Progressing through these tiers is mandatory for unlocking the most advanced blueprints and crafting stations. The Expert Crafter certification is the final tier and requires the most Spirit Cube investment.
Efficient Farming Strategy
Build multiple Ore Analyzers. Processing chunks takes time. Running several Analyzers simultaneously lets you process more chunks per trip.
Focus on Rare Ore Chunks. Found in the deepest Moonlit Forest sections, these have the highest Spirit Cube Fragment drop rate and can yield multiple fragments per chunk.
Farm Soil Mounds for Uncommon chunks. The mounds along Spiritshade River and in Azure Bay yield Uncommon Ore Chunks more reliably than mining ore veins.
Bring stamina food. Mining trips consume heavy stamina. Pack cooked meals to extend your time in the forest.
Upgrade to the Impact Hammer. Available from Zerine's General Store after Junior Crafter rank, the Impact Hammer mines area-of-effect and is required for deeper forest ores.
Plan your crafting order. Prioritize Realm Box first (quality of life), then Waverider (Senior Crafter quest), then Robot Terminal and Teleporter (Expert Crafter quest).
Track your fragments. Keep a running count of fragments and plan batches. Crafting one Teleporter requires 16 fragments, and you likely want at least 2 or 3 Teleporters for a proper fast travel network.
