Press R1 + Triangle to perform a fast forward swing that drives your enemies into the ground. The downward strike is one of Oongka's primary damage-dealing weapon attacks.
Slash is unlocked by spending 1 Abyss Artifact in Oongka's Stamina (Blue) skill tree. It becomes available after Oongka joins the party, which happens later in the main story. Because it requires only a single Abyss Artifact, Slash is one of the first weapon skills Oongka players should invest in.
Slash performs a fast overhead swing that drives the weapon downward into the target, dealing significant single-target damage. The attack is activated by pressing R1 + Triangle on PlayStation or RB + Y on Xbox, and it consumes 40 Stamina per use. The downward trajectory of the strike gives it strong vertical reach, making it effective against both grounded enemies and targets that are slightly elevated.
Unlike Oongka's area-of-effect abilities such as Rampage, Slash focuses on concentrated damage to a single target. This makes it better suited for duels and boss encounters where precision matters more than crowd control. The animation is relatively fast for one of Oongka's two-handed weapon attacks, allowing it to fit into combo chains without leaving Oongka exposed for too long.
Slash branches into three upgrades as Oongka invests additional Abyss Artifacts:
Hack and Slash (Lv. 2): A rapid follow-up combo extension after a charged Slash. This upgrade lets Oongka chain multiple hits in quick succession, increasing total damage output during openings.
Slash and Sling (Lv. 2): After performing a charged Slash, Oongka grabs the target and executes a spinning throw. This grapple follow-up is useful for repositioning enemies or tossing them off ledges.
Slash Rend Armor (Lv. 3): The Slash attack bypasses the target's Super Armor, sending them flying. This is critical against armored enemies and bosses that normally resist stagger.
Open boss fights with Slash to deal quick burst damage before the enemy begins their attack patterns.
Invest to Level 3 for Slash Rend Armor as soon as possible. Bypassing Super Armor is one of Oongka's most important capabilities against late-game bosses.
Pair Slash with Rage to gain Super Armor protection during the attack animation, preventing enemies from interrupting the swing.
Use Slash and Sling near cliffs and elevated terrain to throw enemies off edges for environmental kills.
Chain Slash into Hack and Slash for sustained damage during boss stagger windows when you have extended openings.
Hack and Slash: Combo extension available at Slash Lv. 2.
Rampage: Oongka's forward charge for sweeping through groups of enemies.
Raging Lightning: Spinning area attack for crowd control.

Slash is a core weapon skill for Oongka with three branching inner skills: Hack and Slash for combo extensions, Slash and Sling for grapple follow-ups, and Slash Rend Armor for bypassing Super Armor. Invest Abyss Artifacts to Level 3 to unlock the full upgrade tree.
