Overview
Paldean Wooper is a Poison/Ground-type Pokemon found in Bleak Beach. It is one of the most important Pokemon in Pokopia because it teaches the Suck Up Liquids transformation, a critical ability for water placement, hot spring creation, and waterfall building. Paldean Wooper also has the Litter specialty, passively dropping Squishy Clay, which is used to make Bricks.
How to Find Paldean Wooper
Building the Marshy Tall Grass Habitat
Paldean Wooper appears after the player builds a Marshy Tall Grass habitat at Bleak Beach. The habitat can be created near the muddy waterfall area by using the powered-up Leafage ability (eat a Salad first) around the waterfall to grow marshy grass. Once the habitat forms, Paldean Wooper will appear.
Feeding Wooper
When Paldean Wooper first appears, it is hungry. It needs 3 Tomatoes to be fed before it will teach the Suck Up Liquids ability. Tomatoes are available from the small crop farm near the houses in Bleak Beach. Deliver the Tomatoes to Wooper, and it will teach the move.
Quest Context
The Suck Up Liquids ability is unlocked as part of Piplup's "Make a Waterfall" request during the Bleak Beach storyline. The quest chain involves learning Surf, understanding waterwheels, and then building the waterfall, which leads to the Wooper encounter.
Suck Up Liquids Transformation
Suck Up Liquids is the 9th Ditto Transformation. It lets Ditto inhale liquids from the environment and spit them out elsewhere to create new water sources.
Action | Controls |
|---|---|
Inhale liquid | Stand near water, hold Y + press ZR |
Store liquid | Ditto inflates and holds liquid in its mouth |
Spit out liquid | Face target, press A |
Drain a source | Hold Y + ZR until area dries up |
The ability works with multiple liquid types: regular water, ocean water, hot-spring water, mud, and even lava. Liquid can only be placed within the same biome where it was collected. This ability is essential for:
Creating waterfalls by spitting water over cliff edges
Building pools and ponds for habitats and waterwheels
Relocating hot-spring water from Rocky Ridges caves to other spots
Draining unwanted water for terraforming
Powering waterwheels by directing water flow onto them
Litter Specialty
Paldean Wooper has the Litter specialty, which causes it to passively drop Squishy Clay near its habitat. Squishy Clay is processed by a Burn-specialty Pokemon into Bricks, which are needed for several late-game crafting recipes and the Team Initiation Challenge (Stage 4 requires 40 Bricks). Setting up a Paldean Wooper habitat near a Gather-specialty Pokemon and Community Box creates a passive Squishy Clay farm.

Tips
Bring 3 Tomatoes to Bleak Beach before building the Marshy Tall Grass habitat. This way you can feed Wooper immediately and learn the Suck ability without extra trips.
Suck Up Liquids is one of the most versatile abilities in the game. Prioritize unlocking it early in the Bleak Beach storyline.
Set up Paldean Wooper near a Gather Pokemon and Community Box for a passive Squishy Clay farm. The Clay gets turned into Bricks when processed by a Burn Pokemon.
Use the Suck ability to create custom waterfalls for powering waterwheels, which generate free electricity.
Remember the same-biome restriction: liquid collected in one area can only be placed within that same area.
