Initial version (2026-03-16)
Generation 1 has the largest representation in Pokemon Pokopia, with over 80 Pokemon from the original Kanto region available across all areas of the game. These include the three classic starter lines (Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle), fan favorites like Pikachu, Eevee, and Snorlax, and powerhouses like Dragonite and Gyarados. Many Gen 1 Pokemon teach critical Ditto Transformations and offer essential specialties for island management. The Eeveelution family, while originally Gen 1, is spread across multiple generations in Pokopia's Pokedex and found exclusively in Palette Town.

The three original Kanto starters and their full evolution lines are all present. Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle can each be found in Tall Grass habitats early on. Their evolutions appear in progressively more complex habitats like Field of Flowers, Campsite, and Berry-Feast Campsite.
Several Gen 1 Pokemon teach essential Ditto Transformations:
Pokemon | Transformation | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Glide | Soar through the air between floating islands | |
Waterfall | Travel up vertical water streams (Surf upgrade) | |
Surf | Swim across water surfaces | |
Bulldoze | Push heavy objects and clear obstacles | |
Fly | Fast travel to discovered locations |
Gen 1 includes Eevee and its three original evolutions: Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon. All Eeveelutions (including later-gen ones like Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon) are found exclusively in Palette Town through a special quest given by Eevee. Each Eeveelution requires building a unique themed habitat.
Gen 1 Pokemon cover every specialty in Pokopia. Here is a summary of the most common specialties among Generation 1 Pokemon:
Specialty | Example Pokemon | Function |
|---|---|---|
Grow | Bulbasaur, Oddish, Bellsprout | Help plants and crops grow faster |
Burn | Charmander, Growlithe, Vulpix | Light fires, cook food, power furnaces |
Water | Squirtle, Slowpoke, Dratini | Water crops, fill basins, increase humidity |
Search | Pidgey, Venonat, Paras | Locate hidden items and Pokemon |
Generate | Pikachu, Magnemite, Voltorb | Power electrical devices and machines |

Recycle | Koffing, Weezing | Process trash and recycle materials |
Teleport | Abra, Alakazam, Exeggcute | Instant teleportation to specific locations |
The Kanto starters are among the easiest Pokemon to befriend early in the game. Their Tall Grass habitats require minimal materials to build.
Dragonite is one of the most valuable Pokemon in the entire game thanks to its dual Fly and Water specialties plus the Glide transformation. Prioritize reaching Sparkling Skylands to find it.
Many Gen 1 Pokemon have evolution lines in Pokopia. Building habitats for the base form often lets you encounter evolutions nearby.
The Eeveelution collection quest in Palette Town is one of the longest side quests in the game. Each Eeveelution has a unique food-themed habitat.
Gen 1 has more Trade-specialty Pokemon than any other generation, making them ideal for setting up shops around your island.
