Slowpoke

Overview

Slowpoke is a Water/Psychic-type Pokemon in Pokemon Pokopia, classified as the Dopey Pokemon (Dex #024). It can be befriended and It has two specialties: Yawn and Water. The Yawn specialty is unique to Slowpoke and provides information about biome humidity levels, while the Water specialty (shared with Squirtle, Wartortle, Shellos, Gastrodon, and Slowbro) helps with watering plants and maintaining moist environments.

Yawn Specialty

The Yawn specialty is exclusive to Slowpoke. It functions as a humidity indicator for the area around it. When you interact with Slowpoke, it provides information about the current humidity levels in the biome. This is useful because humidity affects which Pokemon will appear in habitats, which plants will grow, and which weather conditions are more likely to occur.

Understanding humidity is particularly important during the "Yawn Up a Storm" quest in Withered Wasteland, where you need to increase the area's humidity to trigger rainfall. Slowpoke's Yawn specialty helps you monitor your progress toward the humidity threshold.

Water Specialty

The Water specialty allows Slowpoke to water plants, clean mud, and perform rain dances in the area. This specialty is shared with several other Water-type Pokemon. The Water specialty complements Slowpoke's Yawn ability, since watering activities directly contribute to increasing local humidity. One of the Bread recipes, Fluffy Bread, requires the Water specialty to prepare. Fluffy Bread has a Sweet flavor and powers up the Cut transformation.

Slowbro

Slowbro, the evolved form of Slowpoke, can also be befriended separately in Pokopia. Slowbro has the Water and Trade specialties. The Trade specialty allows Slowbro to operate shops at powered Cash Registers, making it useful for the trading economy. While Slowpoke monitors humidity, Slowbro contributes to commerce.

How to Befriend

Slowpoke lives in the Seaside Tall Grass habitat (#005), where it spawns at Common rarity. The ideal environment for Slowpoke is Humid. Check the Habitat Dex at any Pokemon Center PC for the specific habitat configuration. Slowpoke typically requires water-adjacent, relaxed habitat elements. It can appear in multiple areas where the right conditions are met.

Befriend Slowpoke early to help track humidity during the Yawn Up a Storm quest. Place Slowpoke near gardens and crop areas so its Water specialty keeps plants healthy.
