Overview
Squirtle is a Water-type Pokemon in Pokemon Pokopia, classified as the Tiny Turtle Pokemon (Dex #007). Squirtle holds the distinction of being the very first Pokemon you befriend in the game. You encounter a famished Squirtle at the start of your adventure in the Withered Wasteland, and it teaches Ditto the Water Gun transformation, which is the first move you learn.

Location
Squirtle is found in Withered Wasteland, the game's starting region. Your first encounter with Squirtle is scripted: you will spot a famished Squirtle lying on the ground near the start of the game. After approaching it, Ditto learns its first transformation (Water Gun) and uses it to wake Squirtle up.
How to Befriend
Squirtle is befriended automatically as part of the opening tutorial. When you find the collapsed Squirtle, approaching it triggers a cutscene where Ditto learns Water Gun and revives Squirtle by spraying it with water. This makes Squirtle the only Pokemon in the game that is befriended through a mandatory story event rather than a habitat build.
Move Taught: Water Gun
Squirtle teaches Ditto the Water Gun transformation, the first and most versatile utility move in the game. Water Gun lets you spray water to:
Revive dry, parched areas and restore the ground
Make flowers bloom and grass grow
Water crops to help them grow (alternative to irrigation systems)
Clean mud and dirty surfaces
Raise humidity levels in an area
Water Gun can be powered up by eating Soup. After consuming soup, Water Gun sprays a wider area of tiles per use, making watering and cleanup significantly faster.
Specialty: Water
Squirtle has the Water specialty. Pokemon with this specialty will automatically spray water on nearby fields and plants when a basin filled with water is placed close to their habitat. This is one of the most practical specialties in the game, as it automates crop watering and keeps your farms irrigated without manual effort.

Tips
Squirtle's Water specialty makes it the ideal companion for your crop fields. Place a water basin near your farm and assign Squirtle nearby to automate irrigation.
Build a Hydrated Tall Grass habitat near the coast to increase the area's humidity level, which benefits other water-loving Pokemon.
Water Gun is used constantly throughout the entire game. Power it up with Soup as soon as cooking becomes available.
