Overview
Hernand Requests are a category of Faction Quests in Crimson Desert set within the Hernand region. Unlike Hernand Commissions, which are structured tasks assigned by specific shop owners and vendors in the City of Hernand, Hernand Requests are encounter-based quests that you discover while exploring the countryside and interacting with NPCs scattered across the region. They are tracked in the Journal under Faction Quests and are sometimes grouped under the heading "Tales from the Corners of Hernand."
These requests cover a variety of activities: rescuing travelers ambushed by bandits, investigating suspicious strangers, completing dispatch missions to build local infrastructure, and more. Most are short encounters that reward crafting materials, Contribution EXP, or consumable items. A few involve traps and deception where bandits or hostile factions try to lure you into an ambush.
Hernand Requests are not missable. You can return to them at any point, even across different chapters of the main story. Completing these quests raises your Hernand Contribution level, which unlocks rewards at the Hernand Contribution Shop inside Hernand Castle.
How to Unlock Hernand Requests
Most Hernand Requests do not appear on notice boards. Instead, they trigger when you approach a specific NPC or stumble upon a scene while traveling. Keep an eye out for NPCs with quest markers, people tied up on the roadside, or strangers who flag you down. Some quests become available only after reaching a certain chapter in the main story; for example, Goddess of Abundance requires Chapter 4. Others are available as soon as you gain free access to the Hernand open world in Chapter 2.
Because these quests are scattered across a large area, exploring off the beaten path is essential. Riding your horse along lesser-traveled roads through the Hills of No Return, Pororin Forest, and the Mountain of Frozen Souls will reveal most of them naturally.

The table below lists all known Hernand Requests along with their locations and rewards. Quests that involve bandit traps give no material reward but still grant Contribution EXP and quest completion credit.

Detailed Walkthroughs
The Bandits' Trap
The Bandits' Trap takes place at the Bloodhum House, a building situated just outside the Pororin Forest Village near Shai Village. This quest triggers automatically when you enter the house.
Objectives:
Enter the Bloodhum House and head to the room on the right. Follow the blood trail on the floor.
Prepare for combat. Bleed Bandits will rush into the room as soon as you enter.
Defeat all the bandits and exit the house to complete the quest.
Optional: Basement Loot
After clearing the bandits, you can access the basement through a trapdoor. A wooden chest down there contains 2 Light Silver Pouches and 7 Long Hair Hides. However, you must be wearing a Mask to steal from the chest. Be aware that looting this chest will reduce your Hernand Contribution slightly, so weigh the reward against the reputation hit.
Tip: If you are carrying a Mask from the Bounty Notice: Jeffrey quest line or purchased one elsewhere, equip it before heading downstairs. The Silver Pouches are a solid early-game income boost if you do not mind the Contribution penalty.
Faked Tears
Faked Tears is a short ambush encounter located southeast of Inksworth Bindery in the Hernand region. A woman (listed as "Stranger") will approach you and claim she needs help gathering herbs to treat her sick child.
Objectives:
Speak with the Stranger near Inksworth Bindery.
Follow her to the supposed herb location.
When Bleed Bandits appear, defeat them or flee.
The quest description captures the scene: "Where the child was supposed to have collapsed was only Bleed Bandits, waiting. It was a trap." There are no material rewards for completing this quest, but it counts toward overall quest completion and grants a small amount of Contribution EXP. Clearing the bandits is recommended to secure the area.
Tip: This quest is easy to miss because the Stranger does not have a large quest marker. She stands slightly off the main road. If you are riding quickly on horseback, you may pass her without noticing. Slow down near Inksworth Bindery and look for an NPC waving you down.
Forest of Trickery
Forest of Trickery is another deception-style quest, this time set at the Mountain of Frozen Souls. An NPC called the "Isolated Patient" asks for your help retrieving herbs she abandoned after encountering wild beasts. She claims to be from Sunset Valley and expresses fear about returning alone.
Objectives:
Speak with the Isolated Patient at the Mountain of Frozen Souls.
Follow her to the herb gathering location.
Defeat the Reed Devil Minions that ambush you at the rendezvous point.
As you follow the patient, she mentions that people usually refuse to help once they learn she comes from Sunset Valley. This is a clue that something is off. When you reach the destination, no herbs are found, only Reed Devil Minions lying in wait. The quest completes after you defeat them. Like Faked Tears, this quest offers no material rewards.
Tip: The Reed Devil Faction operates in several areas outside the City of Hernand. These ambush quests serve as warnings to stay alert when strangers ask for help in remote areas. Both Faked Tears and Forest of Trickery reinforce this theme.
Goddess of Abundance
Goddess of Abundance is a dispatch-style quest that becomes available in Chapter 4. A troubled Noble in the City of Hernand (east of the Hernand Butchery) explains that the Nas River Fishing Dock has been seeing fewer visitors and requests that you erect a statue of the goddess there to improve the area's appeal.
Objectives:
Speak with the Noble in the eastern part of the City of Hernand.
Open your Dispatch menu and send a Freesword to the Nas River Fishing Dock.
Select the "Goddess of Abundance Statue Construction" dispatch option.
Wait for the construction to complete (approximately 1 day and 12 hours of in-game time). You will also earn 300 Greymane Camp EXP upon completion.
Return to the Noble at the Nas River Fishing Dock to turn in the quest.
Rewards: Yellow Bass x5, Light Silver Pouch x1
Tip: Start this dispatch mission before you head out on a long quest chain or exploration session. The in-game timer ticks down while you do other activities, so you will not need to sit around waiting. The 300 Greymane Camp EXP is a nice bonus for Camp Expansion progress.
Savior on the Road
Savior on the Road is a rescue and escort quest found along the southeastern road in the Hills of No Return. You will come across a deliveryman being mugged by bandits beside a broken wagon.
Objectives:
Defeat the bandits holding the deliveryman captive.
Speak with the freed man to receive his thanks.
Escort him northeast to Riventine Winery.
Dismount your horse upon arrival. The deliveryman will buy you wine as thanks.
Speak with the person expecting the delivery at the winery to complete the quest.
Rewards: Small Copper Pouch, Wine x7, +5 Contribution EXP
Tip: The Wine you receive can be sold to a vendor for extra Silver, or you can use it as a gift item for NPC interactions. The Contribution EXP also pushes you toward your next Contribution level, which unlocks gear at the Hernand Contribution Shop.
Where the Sweetness Stopped
Where the Sweetness Stopped is a rescue quest found at Pollengarth Apiary. A honey deliveryman has been captured by bandits who are trying to steal his honey supply.
Objectives:
Travel to Pollengarth Apiary and locate the tied-up deliveryman near a damaged wagon.
Defeat the goblins and bandits holding him captive, then free him from his bindings.
Escort the deliveryman to Emberwind Shop.
Return to Pollengarth Apiary and inform the beekeeper about what happened to the delivery.
Rewards: Honey x10, +5 Contribution EXP
Tip: Honey is a useful cooking ingredient that appears in several recipes. Receiving 10 Honey from this quest is one of the easiest ways to stock up early. Check the Cooking Recipes page for dishes that require Honey.
Woodcutter in Peril
Woodcutter in Peril is a straightforward rescue quest found along the southwestern road of the Hills of No Return. Bandits have tied up a woodcutter behind nearby foliage while patrolling the area.
Objectives:
Approach the bandit camp near the southwestern Hills of No Return road.
Defeat all the bandits in the area.
Interact with the woodcutter and hold R2 (or the equivalent interact button) to untie him.
Rewards: Timber x20, Fine Timber x10, +5 Contribution EXP
The quest completes immediately upon freeing the woodcutter. His face "still held a frightened look," according to the quest journal entry, but he thanks you and offers the nearby wood stockpile as a reward.
Tip: This is one of the best early sources of Fine Timber, which is needed for crafting recipes and Turnali's Request commission. If you are working through Hernand Commissions and need Fine Timber, make sure to complete this quest first to avoid having to chop down trees manually.
Wolf Protecting Hernand
Wolf Protecting Hernand is a request quest tied to the broader A Favor for Hernand quest series. A wolf has been prowling the outskirts of Hernand, and while some see it as a threat, others believe it is actually protecting the area from worse dangers.
Rewards: Wild Ginseng x2, Light Silver Pouch x1
For a full walkthrough of this quest, see the dedicated Wolf Protecting Hernand article.
Path that Connects to House of Healing
Path that Connects to House of Healing is a Hernand Request that involves helping establish a route to St. Halssius's House of Healing, a significant location in the Hernand region connected to the Familiar Curses quest line.
Rewards: Wild Ginseng x2, Light Silver Pouch x1
Wild Ginseng is a valuable recovery item that restores health. Receiving two from this quest provides a handy restock for tougher encounters ahead.
Rewards Summary
The following table consolidates every reward you can earn from completing all Hernand Requests. Note that the three trap/ambush quests (The Bandits' Trap, Faked Tears, and Forest of Trickery) do not provide material rewards on completion, though The Bandits' Trap has optional loot in its basement.
Item | Total Quantity | Source Quests |
|---|---|---|
Yellow Bass | 5 | Goddess of Abundance |
Light Silver Pouch | 3 | Goddess of Abundance, Wolf Protecting Hernand, Path that Connects to House of Healing |
Wild Ginseng | 4 | Wolf Protecting Hernand, Path that Connects to House of Healing |
Small Copper Pouch | 1 | Savior on the Road |
Wine | 7 | Savior on the Road |
Honey | 10 | Where the Sweetness Stopped |
Timber | 20 | Woodcutter in Peril |
Fine Timber | 10 | Woodcutter in Peril |
Contribution EXP | +15 (minimum) | Savior on the Road, Where the Sweetness Stopped, Woodcutter in Peril |
In addition, The Bandits' Trap has optional basement loot (2 Light Silver Pouches and 7 Long Hair Hides) that requires wearing a Mask and carries a Contribution penalty.
Hernand Requests vs. Hernand Commissions
Players often confuse Hernand Requests with Hernand Commissions. While both fall under the Faction Quests umbrella, they differ in several important ways:
Feature | Hernand Requests | Hernand Commissions |
|---|---|---|
Quest Source | Encountered while exploring; triggered by approaching NPCs or scenes | Given by named vendors and shop owners in the City of Hernand |
Typical Tasks | Rescue travelers, survive ambushes, complete dispatch missions | Gather resources, deliver items, craft or cook specific products |
Main Rewards | Consumables, crafting materials, Contribution EXP | Medium Bag (inventory expansion), crafting tools, recipes |
Number of Quests | ~9 | 13+ |
Journal Category | Faction Quests > Hernand Requests / Tales from the Corners of Hernand | Faction Quests > Hernand Commissions |
For inventory management, Hernand Commissions are more valuable because they reward Medium Bags that add extra inventory slots. For Contribution EXP and exploration rewards, Hernand Requests are worth completing as you travel through the region.
Tips and Strategies
Stay alert on the roads. Most rescue quests (Savior on the Road, Where the Sweetness Stopped, Woodcutter in Peril) trigger when you ride past specific spots. If you fast travel frequently, you will miss these encounters. Ride your horse along roads in the Hills of No Return and around Pollengarth Apiary to find them.
Be suspicious of strangers asking for help. Both Faked Tears and Forest of Trickery are trap quests where an NPC pretends to need assistance. If a stranger in a remote area asks you to follow them somewhere, prepare for combat before agreeing.
Carry a Mask for The Bandits' Trap. The optional basement loot in the Bloodhum House requires a Mask. If you have already obtained one from the Bounty Notice: Jeffrey quest or a vendor, equip it before entering the basement.
Start dispatch missions early. Goddess of Abundance requires waiting over a day of in-game time for the statue construction to complete. Begin the dispatch before heading out on other quests so the timer runs in the background.
Complete Woodcutter in Peril before Turnali's Request. The 10 Fine Timber you receive from rescuing the woodcutter can be applied toward Turnali's Request, saving you the effort of gathering Fine Timber yourself.
Stack Contribution gains. Combine Hernand Requests with Hernand Commissions, House Celeste bounties, and good deeds (giving alms, freeing captives) to raise your Contribution level quickly. Higher levels unlock better gear at the Hernand Contribution Shop.
