The Bleed Bandits traffic in a narcotic substance called Dreamer's Bliss, a drug that induces harrowing nightmares and enslaves its victims through addiction.

What makes the Bleed Bandits particularly dangerous is the backing they receive from a powerful and shadowy force. This support has fueled their rapid expansion and made their activities far more difficult to suppress than a normal bandit gang. Among the hostile factions operating in Hernand, the Bleed Bandits are one of the most feared.

Dreamer's Bliss

The core of the Bleed Bandits' operation is the production and distribution of Dreamer's Bliss. This narcotic does not provide the pleasant escape that most drugs promise. Instead, it induces harrowing nightmares in its users. The nightmares serve a purpose: victims become dependent on the drug despite its horrifying effects, creating a cycle of addiction that the Bleed Bandits exploit for profit and control.

Dreamer's Bliss functions as a tool for enslavement. Addicted individuals become compliant and controllable, which the Bleed Bandits use to expand their workforce and maintain power over the communities they infiltrate. The drug has spread through Hernand at the same pace as the faction itself, turning entire settlements into dependent populations.

Territory

The Bleed Bandits control specific locations across Hernand, operating from occupied strongholds. These strongholds serve as production centers for Dreamer's Bliss and as bases for the faction's armed operations. Their expansion is not random; they target trade routes and settlements where they can establish distribution networks for the drug.

Players may encounter Bleed Bandit blockades restricting access to parts of the map. The HUD displays a "Blockaded" indicator alongside the faction's name when the player enters an area under their control. These blockades must be cleared through combat to regain access to the blocked region.

Combat Encounters

The Bleed Bandits are well-armed and organized, reflecting the resources their shadowy backers provide. They fight in groups and tend to hold fortified positions, making direct assaults on their strongholds a challenge. Players can weaken their positions before attacking by using the Dispatch System from the Greymane Camp, sending comrades to reduce enemy numbers at blockaded locations.

Retaking Bleed Bandit strongholds is part of the Liberation System. Successfully clearing a stronghold causes visible changes in the area: residents return, structures are rebuilt, and new vendors set up shop. The faction contribution earned from liberating these areas builds the player's reputation across Hernand.

The Shadowy Backer

The identity of the powerful force behind the Bleed Bandits has not been fully revealed in pre-release coverage. What is known is that this backer provides the resources, organization, and protection that allowed a bandit gang to grow into a regional threat in a short period. The Bleed Bandits exist alongside other hostile factions in Hernand, including the Southern Bandits, the Fundamentalist Goblins, and Hornsplitter's Guards.
