Overview
Ambush is the very first quest in Crimson Desert, serving as both story introduction and combat tutorial. It takes place during the Prologue: Dead of Night chapter. The Greymane mercenary camp is attacked by the Black Bears, forcing the player into a series of defensive battles that teach core combat mechanics.
Chapter Context
Ambush is the first of two quests in the Prologue. After completing it, the story transitions into the Unknown Space quest set in the Abyss. The prologue establishes the central conflict between the Greymanes and the Black Bears while introducing Kliff and his companions.
Objectives
Unfamiliar Lands
Head to the cabin alongside your Greymane allies.
Enter the cabin and speak with your companions before departing.
In Ashes
Exit the cabin and defend against the Black Bear attackers. This segment introduces basic melee combat controls including light attacks, heavy attacks, and blocking.
Push forward and assist Oongka in battle against an incoming wave of enemies.
Move toward Yann and provide support. Each battle cutscene during this sequence is followed by a quick-time event, so stay ready to press the prompted button.
Confront Myurdin and his Black Bears in a scripted boss encounter.
Notable Encounters
The fight against Myurdin at the end of this quest is a scripted tutorial boss encounter. It is technically possible to defeat him, but doing so grants no additional rewards. Regardless of the outcome, the story progresses with the same cutscene: Kliff is overwhelmed and awakens in the Abyss, triggering the transition to the Unknown Space quest.
Rewards
No rewards are granted for completing Ambush. The Unknown Space quest that immediately follows provides the first set of item rewards.
Tips
Use this quest to get comfortable with the basic combat controls: light attack, heavy attack, dodge, and block.
Watch for quick-time event prompts after each cutscene during the battle sequences. Missing them does not cause a game over, but landing them keeps the flow smooth.
Do not worry about defeating Myurdin. The fight is designed to be unwinnable under normal circumstances, and the story outcome is identical either way.
