Overview
The Golden Greed Set is a complete armor collection in Crimson Desert that gives Kliff the appearance of a wealthy king draped in gleaming gold. Unlike other armor sets that require dyes to achieve a golden look, every piece in the Golden Greed set comes with its natural gold finish straight out of the chest. The set consists of five armor pieces (helmet, plate boots, plate cloak, plate armor, and plate gloves), along with a matching golden sword and a golden shield. All seven pieces are scattered across hidden caves, waterfall passages, and puzzle vaults in the mid-to-late regions of Pywel, rewarding players who explore thoroughly and master the game's traversal abilities.
Every piece in the Golden Greed set can be fully refined at a blacksmith, making the entire collection viable for endgame use. This means the set is not just cosmetic; players can upgrade each piece to competitive stat levels and wear the full golden ensemble through the hardest content in the game.
Set Pieces
The Golden Greed set includes seven total pieces spread across seven distinct locations. Five are armor slots, one is a one-handed sword, and one is a shield.

Location Guide
The seven pieces are clustered in a rough region that can be covered in a single exploration loop. The route below is organized to minimize backtracking, starting from the Sanctum of Renunciation and working outward before doubling back for the southwestern pieces.
1. Helmet: Sanctum of Renunciation
The Golden Greed Helmet is found inside the Sanctum of Renunciation. To reach it, clear the enemies guarding the area near two lanterns. Once the threats are dealt with, light both torches to unlock a previously blocked entryway. The helmet waits inside.
2. Plate Boots: Arahaza Cave
From the Sanctum, head northeast to find Arahaza Cave. This cave requires the Focused Force Palm ability, which becomes available during Chapters 3 through 4. Inside the cave, locate the glowing orb and use Focused Force Palm on it to access the treasure. The Plate Boots grant movement speed and stamina regeneration, making them useful for extended exploration sessions.
3. Plate Cloak: Venom Blade Grotto
Continue further northeast from Arahaza Cave to reach Venom Blade Grotto. This cave is hidden behind the eastern waterfall near an iron ore deposit. Look for a stone cairn that marks the entrance. To get inside, use the charged Stab ability to pierce through the waterfall. The Plate Cloak is on the other side.
4. Plate Armor: Castle Ruins
Head southeast from Venom Blade Grotto to find a set of castle ruins. Locate the stone staircase and go left into the large doorway. The area inside is dark, so use the lantern to navigate. Search for a glowing leaf on the wall; this marks a secret passage. Use the Force Palm (R3 input) to break through the hidden wall. The Plate Armor behind it is arguably the best piece in the set, offering movement speed, health regeneration, and a swim speed multiplier.
5. Plate Gloves: Gale of Judgment
Double back and head southwest from the starting Sanctum to find the Gale of Judgment cave. The entrance is near a large train track or scaffold structure that spans over a waterfall. Make your way to the midway platform built into the cliff face. From this platform, use the charged Stab ability to pass through the waterfall, then crouch through a narrow hole to enter the hidden chamber.
Inside, you will find the Golden Greed Plate Gloves along with a Refined Palmar Pill, a consumable that enhances your Force Palm abilities. Grab both before heading out.
6. Shield: Silent Water Grotto
From the Gale of Judgment, travel south-southeast to reach Silent Water Grotto, located near the same train track system. The cave entrance sits at the bottom of the larger half of a split waterfall. The Golden Greed Shield inside offers Attack Speed Level 2 and solid defense, making it a strong choice for players running Forward Slash builds and other fast one-handed sword playstyles.
7. Sword: Vault of Vengeance (Abyss Island)
The Golden Greed Sword is the most complex piece to obtain. It is located in the Vault of Vengeance, an Abyss Island accessible through the Scholar Stone skylands. Reaching the sword requires solving a multi-step puzzle.
Activate the power source located outside the front door of the vault.
Use a double Focus Shot to hit two targets flanking the entrance.
Use Nature's Grasp to lift the door mechanism and open the vault.
Stand at the doorway entrance and use Focus Shot to hit all four glowing circle pads on the interior wall simultaneously.
Successfully completing this sequence grants access to the Golden Greed Sword, one of the strongest one-handed swords in the game.
Stat Overview
The Golden Greed set provides a well-rounded spread of stats that covers offense, defense, and mobility. Unlike heavily specialized sets, the Golden Greed collection offers something for every aspect of combat and exploration.
Stat Category | Pieces That Provide It |
|---|---|
Defense | Helmet, Cloak, Gloves, Shield |
Attack / Damage | Helmet, Gloves, Sword |
Movement Speed | Plate Boots, Plate Armor |
Stamina Regeneration | Plate Boots |
Health Regeneration | Plate Armor |
Swim Speed Multiplier | Plate Armor |
Attack Speed | Shield (Level 2) |
Critical Rate | Sword |
The Plate Armor stands out as the most stat-rich piece, combining movement, health regen, and swim speed into a single slot. The Shield is notable for its Attack Speed Level 2 bonus, which synergizes well with fast-hitting sword builds. Together, the sword and shield pair creates a strong offensive loadout for one-handed combat.
Refinement
All seven pieces of the Golden Greed set can be upgraded through the refinement system at any blacksmith. Refinement incrementally boosts each piece's base stats using gold and crafting materials sourced from mining, hunting, boss drops, and quest rewards. Because the entire set supports full refinement, players can invest in the Golden Greed collection as legitimate endgame gear rather than treating it as purely cosmetic.
When planning your refinement path, consider prioritizing the Plate Armor first (for its health regen and movement bonuses), followed by the sword and shield (for direct combat improvements). The remaining armor pieces can be refined as materials become available.
Requirements and Prerequisites
Not all pieces of the Golden Greed set are accessible from the start of the game. Several locations require specific abilities or story progress before they can be reached.
Requirement | Pieces Affected | Details |
|---|---|---|
Plate Boots | Unlocked during Chapters 3 through 4. Required to interact with the orb inside Arahaza Cave. | |
Charged Stab | Plate Cloak, Plate Gloves | The Stab skill must be upgraded to allow piercing through waterfalls. Both Venom Blade Grotto and Gale of Judgment require this. |
Force Palm (R3) | Plate Armor | Needed to break the hidden wall in the castle ruins. |
Sword | Required for the Vault of Vengeance puzzle to lift the door. | |
Precision Focus (Focus Shot) | Sword | Needed for the multi-target shooting puzzle in the Vault of Vengeance. |
Because of these requirements, the earliest you can realistically collect all seven pieces is after completing Chapter 4, once the necessary traversal and combat skills are unlocked.
Build Synergies
The Golden Greed Shield's Attack Speed Level 2 bonus makes the set particularly attractive for Forward Slash builds. Forward Slash rewards fast, repeated strikes, and the attack speed boost from the shield amplifies that playstyle significantly. Pairing the Golden Greed Sword and Shield together creates a cohesive one-handed loadout with strong offensive stats.
For players who prefer a different weapon but still want the golden look, the five armor pieces can be worn independently. The movement speed and stamina regeneration from the boots, combined with the health regen and swim multiplier from the plate armor, provide excellent utility for open-world exploration regardless of weapon choice.
Tips
No dyes needed. The Golden Greed set has its gold finish by default. You do not need to visit a dye vendor or spend any resources to get the golden appearance.
Bring a lantern. The castle ruins where the Plate Armor is hidden are very dark. Without the lantern, spotting the glowing leaf that marks the secret wall is nearly impossible.
Watch for stone cairns. The Venom Blade Grotto entrance is marked by a stone cairn near the eastern waterfall. These cairn markers often indicate hidden caves throughout Pywel.
Grab the Refined Palmar Pill. When collecting the Plate Gloves from the Gale of Judgment, do not overlook the Refined Palmar Pill in the same chamber. It upgrades your Force Palm abilities and is easy to miss.
Shield for Forward Slash builds. If you are running a Forward Slash build, the Golden Greed Shield's Attack Speed Level 2 is one of the best shield bonuses available for that playstyle.
Full refinement for endgame. Do not be discouraged by finding this set in mid-game. Every piece supports full refinement at a blacksmith, so the set remains competitive through endgame content.
Plan your route. Follow the location guide order above (Sanctum, northeast to Arahaza, northeast to Venom Blade, southeast to castle ruins, then southwest for Gale of Judgment and Silent Water Grotto) to collect six of the seven pieces in one efficient loop.
