Best Farming Locations

Version-drift reconcile: backfill revision at v5 (article was at v5, prior rev_max=4)
Crimson Desert offers a wide variety of farming methods for accumulating gold, Abyss Artifacts (the game's XP equivalent), crafting materials, Abyss Cells, and Abyss Cores. This guide covers the eleven most efficient farming locations and methods in the game, organized by when they become available and what they reward. Whether you are early in the story or deep into the endgame, there is a farm on this list that suits your needs.
Several of these methods can be combined into a single play session. For example, farming Drake's Fall Castle for Abyss Cells and ore while simultaneously sending Greymane expeditions to collect meat and cores in the background. The key to efficient progression is keeping multiple passive farms running while you actively clear enemies at the high-yield locations listed below.
# | Farm | Primary Rewards | Available From | Type | Repeatable? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | XP (Abyss Artifacts) | Chapter 3 (before Reed Devil) | Active | No (one-time window) | |
2 | Fort Windidge (Due Haven) | XP (Abyss Artifacts) | After reaching Due Haven | Active | Yes |
3 | Witchwood Rock Enemies | Early-mid game | Active | Yes (leave one large enemy alive) | |
4 | Iron Ore, Abyss Cells, Abyss Cores | Early-mid game | Active | Yes (leave one large enemy alive) | |
5 | Bismuth Ore, Abyss Cells, Abyss Cores, XP | Mid game (Hernand region) | Active | Yes | |
6 | Mid game | Active | Yes (RNG-based) | ||
7 | Zinhold Ranch Expedition | 50 Meat (every 18 hours) | Mid game (Pailune) | Passive | Yes |
8 | Metallark Ranch Expedition | 18 Chicken (every 18 hours) | Mid-late game (Demeniss) | Passive | Yes |
9 | Timeworn Ruins Excavation | Mid-late game | Passive | Yes (every 3 in-game days) | |
10 | Stoneback Crab Wetlands | Mid-late game | Active | Yes | |
11 | Abyss Cells, Destruction I Cores, Insight I Cores, Iron Ore | Mid game (Hernand region, near Sage's Peak) | Active | Yes (leave one enemy pack alive) |
The earliest reliable farming method for Abyss Artifacts (the game's XP equivalent) is available during Chapter 3, on the hillside just before the Reed Devil boss encounter. As you climb the hill toward the boss arena, you will notice waves of enemies spawning around stone totems scattered throughout the area.
The trick is simple: do not destroy the totems. As long as the totems remain intact, enemies will continue to spawn indefinitely. You can linger in the area and defeat wave after wave, filling the Abyss Artifact meter displayed to the left of the minimap. Each time the yellow bar fills completely, you earn one Abyss Artifact.
The Reed Devil boss may appear during farming and approach you, but after dealing roughly 10% of its health, it retreats. If you have farmed a decent weapon beforehand, you can finish the boss quickly when you are ready. Once the boss is killed or the totems are destroyed, this farming opportunity is gone permanently. Plan your time here before engaging the boss.
Rewards: Abyss Artifacts (unlimited while totems stand)
Duration: Available only during Chapter 3, before defeating Reed Devil
Tip: Farm a proper weapon first so you can dispatch enemies in a few hits, maximizing Artifact gains per minute
The Due Haven region is unique because its inhabitants are permanently hostile toward you unless you equip their faction armor. This hostility is actually an advantage for farming, because you lose no reputation for killing enemies who attack you first.
Fort Windidge is located in the southern part of the Due Haven region. To use this farm, first clear out the enemies inside the fort to liberate it. After that, step outside the bridge area without equipping the Due Haven armor. Two barracks' worth of enemies will continuously spawn outside the bridge.
Defeat the waves of enemies, then either walk away from the area or teleport to the nearby Abyss Nexus to reset all spawns instantly. Return and repeat the cycle. This method is effective for filling the Abyss Artifact meter, especially in the mid game. Be aware that diminishing returns may apply at endgame gear levels, where the XP contribution per kill decreases.
Rewards: Abyss Artifacts (XP) from continuous enemy waves
Requirement: Do NOT equip Due Haven armor to keep the area hostile
Reset: Teleport to the Abyss Nexus or leave the area to respawn all enemies
One of the earliest farming spots for Abyss Cells is located a short distance north of The Witchwoods. At the top of a hill in this area, you will find groups of rock-like Abyss creatures that spawn near stone formations.
These rock enemies drop Abyss Cells when killed, making this one of the earliest ways to start stockpiling cells for craftingAbyss Cores at a Witch NPC. The critical technique is to leave at least one of the large rock enemies alive. If you are killed by the surviving enemy, you will respawn at the nearby checkpoint and the entire area resets with all enemies back in place.
Warning: If you clear out every single enemy, including all the large ones, the area is cleared permanently and enemies will not return unless you reload a prior save file. Always keep at least one large rock creature intact.
Located toward the Pailune border in northern Hernand, Sage's Peak is near a giant fan structure (which has its own puzzle). The area contains both ore deposits and rock-like Abyss enemies similar to those found near the Witchwoods. See the full Sage's Peak Iron Ore and Abyss Farming guide for a detailed route.
These enemies drop Iron Ore and Abyss Cells, and have a chance to drop Abyss Cores as well. Iron Ore remains useful well into the late game for gear upgrades, so this farm stays relevant throughout your entire playthrough.
As with the Witchwood farm, leave at least one large rock enemy alive so it can kill you and reset the area. Clearing everything will remove the spawns permanently.
Drake's Fall Castle is widely considered the single best farming location in all of Crimson Desert. Located north of Hernand, this ruined fortress is overrun with Bismuth Oreback Crabs that disguise themselves as metallic ore deposits. In a single session here, you can earn Bismuth Ore, Abyss Cells, Abyss Cores (including critical chance cores), and significant XP toward the Abyss Artifact meter.
Since a recent patch, you can attack the disguised creatures with regular weapons instead of needing specialized tools. The key technique is to delete only two of the three or four enemy groups in the area while leaving at least one intact group alive. This prevents the entire area from being cleared permanently, allowing you to teleport away and return for a fresh round of enemies.
HP Detection Mask tip: Consider obtaining the HP detection mask from the Forbidden Gatekeeper encounter (there is a mission involving this). The mask is found inside a facility near a teleporter and lets you see enemy HP bars, making it much easier to identify which enemies to leave alive for area reset purposes.
The Demeniss Wildlife Park is the premier location for farming Gold Bars through pickpocketing. Each Gold Bar is worth 500 Silver when exchanged at a bank. The park is populated by nobles and has no guards, meaning you can pickpocket freely without risk of bounty.
How it works: Equip your mask, then use a Lantern or the HP detection mask to scan NPCs and identify who is carrying Gold Bars. Bump into the target by sprinting into them, which triggers the pickpocket prompt. Hold Square (PlayStation) or the equivalent button, grab the item, and run away. No guards will pursue you in the Wildlife Park.
The Gold Bar drops from NPCs are heavily RNG-dependent. Sometimes you will find multiple NPCs carrying Gold Bars in a single pass, and other times you will find none. If no NPC in the area has Gold Bars, teleport to the nearby Abyss Nexus to reset the entire area and try again.
Bonus: Bear Enclosure. The park also has an enclosure containing four or five bears. These bears will not fight back and may even run away from you. You can defeat and skin them for animal materials. Although a wanted indicator may appear briefly, no guards will follow you, and you will not receive a bounty. Be careful around the cheetahs in the park, however, as they will attack.
Once you discover Zinhold Ranch in the Pailune region (which happens naturally through the main story), you can send your Greymane members on the Marbled Meat Butchering dispatch mission. This expedition costs 8 to 10 Greymane members and returns 50 meat every 18 in-game hours, along with additional camp resources.
Fifty raw meat converts into five fully maxed Cooked Meat portions that each heal approximately 280 HP. This is one of the most hands-off farming methods in the game, as you simply assign the expedition and collect the meat when it finishes. You can interact with the mission either from the world map directly or from the Greymane Camp management screen.
Metallark Ranch is located in the Demeniss region, making it accessible slightly later than Zinhold Ranch. This dispatch mission provides 18 chicken every 18 in-game hours. While the yield is lower than Zinhold Ranch's meat output, combining both expeditions gives you an enormous supply of healing items.
With both ranches running simultaneously, you can accumulate hundreds of meat and chicken over a few in-game days. Cooking all of it produces a massive stockpile of food that lets you sustain through even the toughest boss fights without worrying about running out of healing.
The Timeworn Ruins are located in the central portion of the Crimson Desert region. After clearing the ruins and defeating the boss encounter inside (bring fire resistance and lightning resistance gear), you unlock the Fallen Abyss Exploration expedition mission.
By sending Greymane members on this expedition, which takes four in-game days to complete, you receive random Abyss Cores as rewards. The expedition can return Tier 3 Greater Abyss Cores, which are the same quality that normally requires Special Synthesis at a Witch. These Greater cores provide powerful bonuses such as +40% damage against specific enemy types.
The expedition costs are manageable even in the late game, typically around 11,000 to 17,000 camp resources or 30,000 silver. The number of cores returned per expedition varies (one, two, three, or potentially more), and every three in-game days you can send another round.
Important note on Greater Abyss Cores: Greater versions of Abyss Cores have a durability stat. They will eventually break after extended use. A +10 Critical Chance Greater Core, for example, can break after a relatively short period. Because of this durability limitation, consider using the Final Synthesis system to convert Greater Cores into other synthesis types at a Witch. This has a chance to unlock additional Greater Core variants. For long-term builds, Tier 3 standard cores may be more reliable since they do not degrade.
The Stoneback Crab Wetlands are located on a small island between Demeniss and the Crimson Desert region. This location is the single best spot for miningaccessory upgrade materials because it contains a full range of ore deposits in a compact area: Copper, Azurite, Epidote, Garnets, and other materials needed for accessory refinement.
The deposits are positioned back to back around the island, allowing you to mine them all in a single loop. Bring the Mining Knuckledrill for a 10% chance at bonus ore drops from every node. If your Knuckledrill is upgraded to at least Rank 6, you also unlock Expert Mining, which yields refined versions of basic crafting materials and increases overall drop quantities.
The Root's End Ruins Farming Loop is the fastest repeatable farm for Destruction I and Insight I Abyss Cores in the game. Located at Root's End in the Hernand region near Sage's Peak, this spot combines a nearby Abyss Nexus with a high cliff to force enemy respawns in just a few seconds.
The loop is simple: climb to the summit, defeat three to four rock crab enemies using Force Palm, loot the drops (watching the minimap for Abyss Gear icons), then fast travel back to the Abyss Nexus to reset the area. The key rule is to leave at least one enemy pack alive in the cluster, or the entire group will stop respawning permanently.
With practice, this method yields approximately one Abyss Core per minute. Each run takes about a minute and drops a Destruction or Insight core every two to four iterations. The primary drops include Abyss Cells, Destruction I and Insight I cores, and Iron Ore. AoE skills like Turning Slash or Raging Lightning work best for speed-clearing the groups.
Warning: auto-saves can disrupt the loop. If the game auto-saves after you defeat a crab but before you fast travel, that crab may be permanently gone on your next iteration. Create a manual save before starting so you can reload if the loop breaks. See the full Root's End Ruins Farming Loop article for detailed build recommendations and tips.
After collecting Abyss Cells from any of the farming methods above, you can multiply them at your farm back at the Greymane Camp. Open your inventory, select an Abyss Cell, and choose the "Use" option to convert it into an Abyss Seed.
Plant the seed in one of your farm plots. It takes approximately three to four in-game days for a full Abyss tree to grow. Each tree yields about five Abyss Cells when harvested (or more with fertilizer). If you dedicate two rows of farm plots to Abyss seeds, the resulting harvest is substantial. After collecting the cells, replant the trees to keep the cycle going indefinitely.
This system means every Abyss Cell you bring home effectively multiplies into five. Over several in-game days, your stockpile grows exponentially. Use the harvested cells to craft more Abyss Cores at a Witch NPC.
The Mining Knuckledrill provides a base 10% bonus ore chance. Upgrading it to Rank 6 unlocks Expert Mining, which yields refined material versions and further increases drops. This tool is essential for anyone spending time at the Stoneback Crab Wetlands or Anvil Hill Cave.
For Flawless Timber, enter the Due Haven Keep and select the second research option in the first row. This unlocks the Demenissian Chainsaw. At Rank 6, the chainsaw produces Flawless Timber, which is required for late-game crafting and upgrades. Since you need the Due Haven armor to access the Keep peacefully, you can combine this with the Fort Windidge XP farm by killing enemies for the armor drops first.
If the Demeniss Wildlife Park pickpocketing method ever becomes less viable, you can craft your own Gold Bars using an alchemy recipe. One early source for the Alchemy Formula: Gold Bar is the Witch's Hideout in the Pailune region, located to the left of the main road toward the capital city. Enter the hideout and look to the right to find the blueprint.
The recipe lists several materials including Brimstone, but you can also craft a Gold Bar using approximately 100 Gold Ore. For a reliable source of Gold Ore, visit Anvil Hill Cave near Demeniss. With an upgraded Mining Knuckledrill, you can mine 50 or more Gold Ore in a single run. The ore deposits inside the cave eventually respawn, making this a repeatable source.
You can buy an Alchemy Cauldron from the Timberham Sawmill furniture merchant, located southwest of Hernand City. The cauldron costs approximately 48 Silver. Once purchased, place it inside your house at the Greymane Camp. This gives you a permanent alchemy station at home, removing the need to travel to town every time you want to brew potions or craft Gold Bars.
Chapter 3: Farm the Totem spawns before fighting Reed Devil. Get as many Abyss Artifacts as you need.
Early exploration: Visit the Witchwood Rock Enemies and Sage's Peak for Abyss Cells and Iron Ore.
Mid game: Start running Drake's Fall Castle for the best all-in-one farming loop. Begin Zinhold Ranch expeditions.
Late game: Add Timeworn Ruins and Metallark Ranch expeditions. Farm Stoneback Crab Wetlands for accessory materials. Plant Abyss Seeds at camp.
Endgame: Pickpocket Gold Bars at Demeniss Wildlife Park. Craft Gold Bars from ore. Use Greater Abyss Cores from expeditions, but watch their durability.
The routes in this section are current as of patch 1.05 (early May 2026) and rely on chest, ore, and enemy respawn behavior triggered by the Fast Travel loading screen. Several of them are explicitly described by the player community as exploits or glitches and may be patched in future updates. Treat them as one currently working farming option, not as the only correct way to play.
Settings note: Several players have reported that chest and ore respawn-on-fast-travel does not trigger for them. The community workaround is to switch graphics to the Performance preset on console, or to a custom preset on PC, then restart the game so the new settings load. Once the respawn behavior fires, the routes below all use the same load-screen reset.
Save first: Use the Save System before starting any route below so a misfire (chest fails to reset, you fall out of bounds the wrong way, or you accidentally kill a no-kill target in the gear farm) does not cost the loop's progress.
Route | Region | Reward Type | Per-Run Time | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Argon Tank Works Single Chest | Materials, ores, gear | Around 10 to 20 seconds | Adjacent to a Fast Travel point. May be patched in future updates. | |
Cloister Of Enlightenment 30+ Chest Run | Cloister of Enlightenment, inside Chapter 9 area | Material chests, decoration items, Patch Notes patches, Abyss Artifact | Around 5 to 10 minutes | Requires past the first part of Chapter 9 (The Calling). Largest single-loop chest run currently known. |
Malurea Cave (5+1 Chests) | Far south, near Malurea | Tier-IV chest gear, ores, materials | Around 30 to 60 seconds | Includes one chest outside the cave plus five inside (two often Tier IV). |
Ashen Rift Three-Chest Pit | Crimson Desert region, south of Varnia | Tier-IV chest loot plus 3 meat crates and 1 extra chest | Around 60 to 90 seconds | Out-of-bounds reset adds a 30 second timer per loop. |
Crimson Desert Provisions Camp | Crimson Desert (Region), north of Delesyia | Provisions, Meal, hides, ores | Around 15 to 30 seconds | Fast travel point sits next to the camp tent for an instant reset. |
Spyro Frost Masked-Enemy Gear Farm | Spyro Frost area, north of Demeniss | Abyss Gear (extracted from knocked-down Weapons and Shields) | Roughly 2 to 5 minutes per camp | Knock weapons out of mace-and-shield enemies, do not kill them. Liberate-locked: only works in unliberated camps. |
Universal Ore Reset Trick | Any ore node next to a fast travel point, map-wide | Gold Ore, Silver Ore, Iron Ore, Copper Ore, Bloodstone, Diamond | Around 10 to 30 seconds per node cluster | Fast travel away (do not run); the cluster respawns on map reload. |
On the Delesyia / Hernand border, just to the west of Argon Tank Works, sits a fast travel point with a single chest a few steps away. The loop is the tightest currently documented chest farm:
Stand on the fast travel point so the reload places you back in the same spot.
Walk to the chest, loot it (materials, ores, gear, occasional patches).
Open the world map and reload the same fast travel point.
The chest will have respawned. Repeat.
Yields are random per chest. Over a long loop you will accumulate stacks of crafting materials, common to uncommon gear pieces, and a steady trickle of patches. May be patched in future updates: an earlier single-chest spot inside Delesyia was nerfed by moving the adjacent fast travel point a few meters away, breaking the instant reload.
Inside the Cloister of Enlightenment area unlocked during The Calling, a single connected loop covers approximately 30 chests grouped across small rooms and ledges. Each chest takes a few seconds to open and most spawn with material loot, hides, and bag pouches. Some markers contain multiple chests stacked together, so a careful first pass is worth running with map markers set per cluster until the loop is memorized.
Prerequisite: You must be past the first major story beat of Chapter 9 (the calling sequence). Earlier than that, jumping into the canyon area triggers a white-screen kick-out. Once unlocked, the entire run resets via fast travel: walk to the chest cluster, loot every chest, fast travel away and back, and the cluster repopulates.
The room near the end of the loop also contains a fade abyss artifact and a Book pickup that appears to respawn as well. May be patched in future updates: this is the largest single-loop chest farm currently known and is on the short list of community-flagged exploits.
South of Hernand, past the town of Malurea, a small cave at the foot of a hillside holds five chests inside plus one chest just outside the entrance. Two of the interior chests are usually Tier IV (the gear-and-ore tier). The cave entrance is gated by a glowing focus-orb rock you crack open with Force Palm, but the rock respawns each loop so the gate does not impede repeat runs.
After looting all six chests, fast travel back to the nearby fast travel point and walk in again. The cave entrance, the focus-orb rock, and every chest reset together. Three crude gold bars on the floor inside the cave are a one-time pickup on the first visit and do not respawn. Yields per loop are typically a mix of common and rare materials, ores, and one or two gear pieces. May be patched in future updates.
South of Varnia inside the Ashen Rift, a small rock formation hides a pit with three Tier-IV chests. Reset is handled by the out-of-bounds timer rather than fast travel:
Drop into the pit and loot all three chests.
Climb out, then fly toward the marked village over the ridge until the out-of-bounds warning appears.
Wait for the 30 second countdown to expire. The game teleports you back next to the rock formation.
Drop in again. All three chests will have respawned.
Two extra pickups round out the loop. There is a fourth chest sitting outside the marked area near a small ranch building (lower-tier loot, but free patches), and three meat crates on a table inside that ranch (each crate awards roughly 30 raw meat per pickup). The crates have a quirk: once the out-of-bounds timer ticks under 15 seconds, the pickup prompt vanishes and the crates cannot be looted that loop. Grab them quickly or skip them. May be patched in future updates.
Many of the small camp tent icons across the world map sit next to a Provisions chest. The version north of Delesyia, just below Varnia, is currently the strongest because the fast travel point is right at the edge of the camp, giving a near-zero-second reload. Loot includes prepared Meal items with strong heal-and-resist effects, hides, salts, sugars, and a steady mix of Iron Ore and Copper Ore from the surrounding rocks. Walk to the camp, loot the chest, fast travel back, and walk in again. May be patched in future updates.
Spyro Frost, north of Demeniss, and any of the similar non-liberated camps in the same band of the map are home to enemies that wield a one-handed mace and a small round shield. Their weapons and shields contain extractable abyss material that synthesizes into Abyss Gear when crafted at any witch vendor. The trick is to disarm them rather than kill them, because killed enemies do not respawn for a long time but disarmed enemies do reset on every fast travel.
Loadout: Equip a one-handed weapon and a small round shield. Hold the block input to raise your shield, then time a counter swing on each enemy hit. The counter knocks their mace and shield onto the ground. A pet (Pets) will scoop dropped weapons and shields if you keep moving.
Critical rule: Do not kill anyone holding a mace or shield. Their weapons never come back if they die. Archers and ice-cannon support enemies in the same camp can be killed normally, since they do not drop the gear-extractable items. Use Blinding Flash to clear flying support enemies if they pile on while you disarm.
Once the inventory is full of disarmed weapons and shields, fast travel to any witch vendor. Use Extract on each weapon and shield to pull out the abyss component, then use Synthesize at the same vendor to roll random gears in batches of 20 (or whatever your stack supports). A common workflow is to extract everything, sell the empty hulls for silver, save before synthesizing, and reload the save if the rolls are bad.
After running the camp, leave the area entirely and walk back in. The disarmed enemies will have all their weapons and shields back. May be patched in future updates: the community has flagged this as one of the strongest current gear-farm methods, so expect a future patch to either kill the disarm-respawn rule or add a separate weapon-respawn timer.
The same fast-travel reset that powers the chest loops above also works on every Mining node in the open world. Find any ore cluster (any Gold Ore, Silver Ore, Diamond, Iron Ore, Copper Ore, Bloodstone, or mixed-vein cluster) within walking distance of a fast travel point. Mine the entire cluster, fast travel away, then fast travel back. The whole cluster respawns. Pet pickup speeds up the loop because you do not have to dismount or stop to grab each ore yourself.
Pickaxe upgrade is optional. The reset trick works regardless of which pickaxe you carry. A standard Pickaxe is fine; better pickaxes only change the per-node yield, not the respawn rule.
Important: Always fast travel away when you stop the loop. Running away on foot can leave the cluster on its standard timer (multiple in-game days) instead of resetting on the next visit, breaking the loop until the natural respawn fires. May be patched in future updates: the developer has nerfed similar respawn-on-reload behavior in earlier patches.
These locations are covered less often in main progression guides but stack well with the eleven primary farms above. Several of them rely on regions remaining unliberated.
The Giant's Whispers Cave sits in the Golfac region of Delazia, east of Demeniss and Hernand. While Golfac is still overrun with machines, kite enemies to the cave mouth and stand inside. Dragonfly drones dive-bomb the cave roof instead of hitting you, dying on impact. Your dog collects drops while you hold position.
Yield per minute is high for: Cogwheel, Lubricant, Mercury, Gunpowder, and Small Battery.
East of Demeniss and Hernand, the three-field area around Tinkerton is the most reliable spawn zone for Golden Apple Hedgehogs. Use the slanted water tower as a landmark and head to the bottom-right field. Walking through the purple and white flowering bushes flushes up to twenty small critters out at once. Shoot the hedgehogs for Golden Apple, combine three Gold Ore with one apple at any Witch vendor, and you have a Gold Bar (500 Silver each at banks). A Mask is required because picking up the apple counts as stealing.
On the far east side of the map, the Demonic Sparrow fast travel point sits directly across from a small island containing White Birch Tree Gorge and the Stoneback Crab Wetlands. This is one of the densest ore nodes in the game. Expect Copper, Iron, Epidote, Azurite, and Garnet. Silver, gold, and mercury are the only deposits missing. Use the Burner's Pickaxe for the 30% additional-ore chance at max level.
Trigger the Trader's Expanse fast travel point in the top right of the Crimson Desert region. The surrounding beach holds roughly two hundred flamingos that move slowly and fall to a single arrow. Each bird drops two to four Meat plus feathers. Running out of draw distance and returning resets the entire flock, so one circuit of the beach is enough for most crafting sessions.
Fast travel to Dire Xul Castle, jump off the wall, and glide into the courtyard through the open doors. The interior is full of small mechanical crabs. Pull the groups together, but leave at least one cluster alive so the area does not lock. Clearing the pulled packs drops Bismuth Ore, Abyss Cells, and Abyss Cores in bulk. Fast traveling back to the outside point respawns every crab.
A connected cluster of farming spots in the live build relies on the fast travel trick: clear a small pocket of chests, ore, meat crates, or enemies, then fast travel to the same node (or to the closest neighbouring node and back) so the loot region reloads. The pocket respawns immediately. Several of these are clustered in the northern Crimson Desert region alone; others are scattered south of Demanis or above Hernand. The developer is actively tuning this family of routes, so chest counts and fast travel node positions can move between patches. The loop pattern has remained stable across the recent updates.
On console, players who find these resets are not triggering after the first lap can almost always fix it by switching the in-game preset. Open Settings, then Graphics, set the preset to Performance, confirm, and restart the game. On PC the same trick is reported by some players switching to a Custom preset that mirrors the Performance defaults. The reset behaviour appears tied to how aggressively the renderer streams the loot region back in around the fast travel point.
Spot | Region | Chests | Tier-4 Chance | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Abyss Crystal Camp | Crimson Desert north, below Varnia | 5 | On lead chest | Includes abyss gear chance, arrows, pouches |
Cave Below Hernand | Hernand south | 6 (one exterior, five interior) | On exterior chest, possibly one interior | Focus Force Palm required to enter cave |
Cloister of Enlightenment Sweep | 40+ | None | Requires first part of Chapter 9: The Calling | |
Ashen Roof Tier-4 Pit | Ashen Roof, falls to Ashen Rift | 2 to 3 tier-4 plus a 4th in the flowery building | Yes, on the roof chests | Out-of-bounds timer auto-teleports to Ashen Rift node |
Provisions Camp Meat Chest | Crimson Desert north, below the Abyss Crystal Camp | 1 chest plus salt, water, sugar pickups | No | Best stop for cooked-meal materials |
5-Chest Tier-4 Camp | Crimson Desert upper edge | 5 | On lead chest | Confirmed abyss gear drops on lead chest |
Spot | Primary Ore | Reset Node | Requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
Demanis / Delazia Ore Island | Gold (no bloodstone) | Island fast travel node | None |
Flaming Coals Gold Spot | Gold (densest per lap) | One of two Flaming Coals nodes | None |
Shadow Wolf Cave Waterfall | Silver | Ancient Ruins | Stab to enter through waterfall |
Lava-Area Abyss Crescent | Bloodstone | Triggered crescent next to deposit field | Bird pet to auto-loot lava drops |
Rebirth Cliff on the southern coast (south of Demanis) hosts a line of enemies firing across at the Saeran great serpent. With the Frost element, the Frost Mantle skill, and the Shaoran Frost abyss gear (a drop from the House Celeste "Frozen Outertale" armour reward, extracted onto your own gear), the Frost Mantle attack one-shots the entire line in a single sweep. Fast travel back to the Rebirth Cliff node to reset the pack and run the loop again. The abyss artifact payout is the highest single-spot rate currently known in the live build, capped at 100 artifacts per character with diminishing per-lap progress as you approach the cap. The pack despawns once you complete the Saeran Great Serpent main mission, so this farm is gated behind not having finished that questline.
For the full quest-chain prerequisites needed to unlock the Frozen Outertale mission (and the Shaoran Frost gear it rewards), see the dedicated Abyss Artifacts Farming Guide.
The chest spots in the northern Crimson Desert region (Abyss Crystal Camp, Provisions Camp, Ashen Roof, and the 5-Chest Tier-4 Camp) cluster tightly enough that you can chain them in a single circuit before fast-travelling back to your starting node. The cave below Hernand and the Cloister sweep sit further away and are better run as standalone loops. The ore spots and Rebirth Cliff are each anchored to their own reset node and do not benefit from chaining.
The fast-travel reset cluster is the single most actively tuned set of farming spots in the live build. Expect specific chest counts, deposit positions, fast travel node placements, and the precise meat-crate timer windows to shift across patches. The general loop method (clear the pocket, fast travel back to the same node, run again) has held across recent updates. Treat any precise number above as patch-current and verify on the live build before planning long sessions around it.
