Overview
Sage's Peak is a mountain range located at the northernmost tip of Hernand, where it meets Pailune's Silver Wolf Mountain. According to local legend, an ancient sage warned descendants never to cross these peaks, claiming the lands beyond were barren wastelands. For players looking to farm iron ore and Abyss materials simultaneously, Sage's Peak offers one of the most efficient dual-purpose farming routes in the mid-game thanks to its combination of ore deposits, abyss-corrupted enemies, and a nearby Abyss Nexus fast travel point.
This location becomes relevant after you have progressed past the early chapters and need a steady supply of iron ore for weapon and armor refinement alongside Abyss Cells for crafting Abyss Gears at Witch NPCs. The area is positioned conveniently between Hernand and the Pailune border, meaning players heading north toward endgame content can incorporate Sage's Peak runs into their travel route.
Location
Sage's Peak sits due north of Hernand, forming the border between the Hernand region and the Silver Wolf Mountain area of Pailune. The nearest major settlement is Hernand City to the south. There is an Abyss Nexus fast travel point in the vicinity, which makes repeated farming runs efficient since you can fast travel out and back to reset certain enemy spawns.
To reach Sage's Peak from Hernand, head north past the main road toward the mountain foothills. The terrain becomes increasingly rocky as you climb, with visible ore nodes along the cliff faces and ridgelines. The abyss-corrupted enemies tend to cluster around the Abyss Nexus location and the darker, more corrupted patches of terrain nearby.
Iron Ore Deposits
The cliffs and rocky outcrops around Sage's Peak contain multiple iron ore nodes. Iron ore is one of the most important crafting materials in Crimson Desert, required for weapon refinement, armor upgrades, and Abyss Gear crafting recipes at Witch NPCs.
Ore deposits in Crimson Desert respawn approximately every seven in-game days. Because of this long cooldown, the most efficient approach is to mine all available nodes in a single session rather than grabbing them piecemeal over multiple visits. If you mine three nodes today and two more tomorrow, you end up with staggered respawn timers that prevent a clean full-route run.
Mining Tips
Mine everything at once. Visit Sage's Peak on a set schedule and clear every iron ore node in one pass. This synchronizes all respawn timers so every node is available again on the same in-game day.
Never skip copper. Copper ore nodes are often found alongside iron at Sage's Peak. While iron seems more valuable early on, copper becomes a bottleneck for mid-to-late game crafting recipes. Always mine both.
Use Force Palm or upgraded tools. Early-game pickaxe mining is slow. Upgrading to Force Palm (the strike ability) or using higher-tier tools dramatically speeds up ore collection.
Track discovered nodes. Every ore node you break at least once gets permanently added to your map under the Environments tab. Check this tab regularly to plan efficient mining routes.
Supplement with vendors. As you gain access to more merchant NPCs in towns, many sell iron ore. Stock up on iron from vendors to supplement your farming runs, especially since vendors restock periodically.
Abyss Enemy Farming
The Abyss Nexus near Sage's Peak spawns abyss-corrupted enemies in the surrounding area. These enemies drop Abyss Cells, the core crafting material for creating new Abyss Gears at any Witch NPC. You can expect to collect six to ten Abyss Cells per run depending on enemy density and drop rates.
Abyss-corrupted enemies at farming spots like Sage's Peak also drop Abyss Gears directly, particularly attack and critical rate variants. These can be extracted and synthesized into higher-level versions at Witch NPCs, making these farming runs valuable for character progression beyond just the raw cell drops.
Farming Strategy
Fast travel to the Sage's Peak Abyss Nexus.
Clear all abyss-corrupted enemies in the surrounding area. Loot all drops including Abyss Cells and any Abyss Gears.
Mine all iron ore and copper ore nodes in the immediate vicinity.
Fast travel to a distant location and then return to Sage's Peak to reset enemy spawns.
Repeat the loop until you have gathered enough materials.
Critical Save Warning
IMPORTANT: Save your game on at least two separate save slots before and during farming sessions at Sage's Peak. This is not just a general precaution; there is a known issue where enemies at certain farming locations can permanently stop respawning if specific conditions are met.
If you kill all enemies in the area and they fail to respawn after fast traveling, they may not return for approximately seven in-game days. In some cases, players have reported a lockout where enemies do not return at all until much later. The same caution applies to farming at locations like Drake's Fall Castle: if you clear the entire area and fast travel away under certain conditions, the respawn cycle can break.
To protect yourself from this issue:
Save on two or more slots. Before starting a farming run, create a manual save. After a successful run where enemies respawned correctly, save on a different slot. If the respawn breaks on a subsequent run, you can reload the earlier save without losing all your progress.
Do not fast travel mid-clear. If you have killed some enemies but not all, avoid fast traveling away. Finish the full clear first, loot everything, and then fast travel. Partially cleared areas with a fast travel in between seem to be the primary trigger for respawn issues.
Leave one group alive if possible. Some players report that leaving at least one enemy pack alive before fast traveling out helps maintain the respawn cycle. Kill the majority, collect your loot, but leave one small group untouched before resetting the area.
Check after seven in-game days. If enemies have stopped respawning, wait a full seven in-game days before returning. In most cases, the enemies will have returned after this cooldown period.
Comparison with Other Farming Spots

What to Do with Your Materials
After completing your farming runs at Sage's Peak, your iron ore and Abyss Cells can be put to use in several ways:
Iron Ore: Visit any Blacksmith to refine your weapons and armor. Each refinement level adds approximately two to three points of base attack or defense. Iron is the primary material for most weapon and armor refinement recipes.
Abyss Cells: Visit any Witch NPC to craft new Abyss Gears. You can craft attack, critical rate, attack speed, defense, and damage reduction gears among others. Two Level 1 gears can be synthesized into a Level 2, and two Level 2s into a Level 3.
Copper Ore: Used alongside iron in many crafting recipes. Copper becomes increasingly scarce relative to demand as you progress. Merchants sell less copper than iron, so every node you mine matters.
Abyss Gear Drops: Extract any Abyss Gears from dropped equipment at a Witch NPC (free extraction). Synthesize them with others of the same type to create higher-tier versions.
Tips
Pair Sage's Peak runs with trips to the Silverwolf Mountains to the north if you are heading toward Pailune for story quests or the Darkbringer weapon location.
Bring plenty of healing items. The abyss enemies at Sage's Peak hit harder than standard wildlife and can overwhelm unprepared players.
If you have access to the Imbue Element skill, fire-imbued attacks are effective against many abyss creatures, clearing packs faster.
Check the Environments tab on your map periodically to see which ore nodes have respawned. Nodes you have previously discovered show up permanently on this overlay.
Consider farming Sage's Peak on the same in-game day each week to maintain a consistent rhythm with the seven-day ore respawn timer.
