Boat
Boats are water vehicles in Starsand Island used for ocean travel, coastal exploration, and reaching fishing spots that cannot be accessed from shore. Five watercraft are available in the game, ranging from the beginner-friendly Bamboo Raft to the endgame Speedboat. Boats are essential for progressing through the Angler profession quests, completing certain NPC requests, and exploring offshore areas of the island.
All Watercraft
Watercraft | Blueprint Price | Worktable Tier | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
Bamboo Raft | 400 Coins | Worktable II | Cheapest water vehicle; basic traversal |
Sailboard | 1,300 Coins | Worktable II | Wind-powered; mid-game option with sporty handling |
Jet Ski | 45,000 Coins | Worktable II | Fast personal watercraft; required for Offshore Racing |
Speedboat | 175,000 Coins | Worktable III | Fastest craftable water vehicle; also purchasable for 350,000 Coins |
Yacht | Rental only | N/A | 150 Coins/hour rental; premium watercraft for ocean exploration |
Bamboo Raft
The Bamboo Raft is the cheapest and most accessible watercraft in Starsand Island. Its blueprint costs only 400 Coins from Neona's G-Power Bike shop, and it requires just 10 Bamboo Strips to craft at a Worktable II. The Bamboo Raft is slower than all other watercraft, but it gets the job done for basic water crossings and early-game exploration.
Crafting Materials (Worktable II):
Material | Quantity |
|---|---|
Bamboo Strips | 10 |
The Bamboo Raft is particularly important because it is needed for Bruce's Flying Fish Sample quest. Players who have not yet acquired any watercraft should build the Bamboo Raft first, as it satisfies the quest requirement at minimal cost.
Sailboard
The Sailboard is a wind-powered watercraft that combines windsurfing aesthetics with practical island transport. Its blueprint costs 1,300 Coins and it requires a mix of processed materials to craft.
Crafting Materials (Worktable II):
Material | Quantity |
|---|---|
Hardwood Plank | 10 |
Carbon Line | 10 |
Flannel | 5 |
Linen | 5 |
The Sailboard offers a step up in speed from the Bamboo Raft and handles well in coastal waters. It also satisfies the Angler profession boat requirement for the Junior Angler trial.
Jet Ski
The Jet Ski is a high-speed personal watercraft and the fastest water vehicle available at the Worktable II tier. Its blueprint costs 45,000 Coins and uses advanced materials including Mini Reactors and Starflare Crystals.
Crafting Materials (Worktable II):
Material | Quantity |
|---|---|
Mini Reactor | 4 |
Rubber | 10 |
High-Performance Wire Set | 10 |
Premium Wood Plank | 10 |
Starflare Crystal | 10 |
The Jet Ski is required for the Offshore Racing event during the Beach Festival. The race starts at 10 AM by speaking to Delphin and renting a Jet Ski for the event. Players who enjoy water activities and fishing should prioritize the Jet Ski as a strong mid-game investment.
Speedboat
The Speedboat is the fastest craftable watercraft in the game. It can be purchased pre-built from Neona for 350,000 Coins or crafted from a blueprint costing 175,000 Coins. As a Worktable III vehicle, it uses endgame materials.
Crafting Materials (Worktable III):
Material | Quantity |
|---|---|
Meteor Plank | 15 |
Perpetual Reactor | 5 |
Rubber | 10 |
Eternal Alloy | 15 |
Chip | 5 |
Spring | 10 |
The Speedboat is ideal for players who spend significant time fishing in deep-water zones or commuting between distant coastal locations. A Speedboat rental is also available at the end of the pier. After renting once, you can summon the rental boat through the Travel section of your phone and deploy it in any body of water.
Yacht
The Yacht is a premium watercraft available as a rental only. It cannot be purchased or crafted. Yacht rentals cost 150 Coins per hour and are available from Neona's shop. The Yacht offers a comfortable, spacious ride for ocean exploration and manual fishing.
Note: The Yacht is separate from the Houseboat, which is a customizable floating property rather than a vehicle.
Boats and the Angler Profession
The Angler profession requires a boat for progression. The Junior Angler trial specifically asks players to acquire a watercraft. Any boat satisfies this requirement, including:
Bamboo Raft (cheapest option at 400 Coins blueprint + 10 Bamboo Strips)
Sailboard (1,300 Coins blueprint)
Speedboat rental (available at the end of the pier; can be summoned after first rental)
Additionally, Bruce's Flying Fish Sample quest requires a boat to reach the fish location. The Bamboo Raft is the most economical way to complete this quest.
Controls
Action | Keyboard | Controller |
|---|---|---|
Board / Disembark | F | A / X Button |
Accelerate | W | Left Stick Up |
Steer | A, D | Left Stick |
Brake / Reverse | S | Left Stick Down |
Camera | Mouse | Right Stick |
Boats can be summoned from the vehicle garage by pressing R. When summoned near water, the boat deploys on the nearest body of water. You can also summon a boat through the Travel section in your phone menu.
Rentals
For players who do not want to invest in purchasing or crafting a boat, rental options are available.
Rental | Cost | Details |
|---|---|---|
Speedboat Rental | Varies | Available at the end of the pier. After first rental, can be re-summoned via the phone Travel menu. |
Yacht Rental | 150 Coins/hour | Premium rental from Neona's shop for spacious ocean exploration. |
When a rental period ends, open the Travel section in your phone menu to view usage duration and the amount owed. Select Pay Now to settle the fee, then choose End Rental to return the vessel or Renew Rental to continue using it.
Tips
Build the Bamboo Raft as soon as possible. At only 400 Coins and 10 Bamboo Strips, it opens up water travel and lets you complete Bruce's Flying Fish Sample quest and the Junior Angler trial.
Always buy blueprints over pre-built boats. The Speedboat blueprint saves 175,000 Coins compared to the pre-built version.
The Jet Ski is the best mid-game water vehicle. It is fast enough for most activities and is required for the Offshore Racing event at the Beach Festival.
Rent a Speedboat at the pier to test water travel before investing in your own. Once rented, you can re-summon it through the Travel phone menu.
Boats cannot travel on land. Switch to a land vehicle when you reach shore. Use the vehicle garage (R) to swap between vehicles quickly.
