Overview
Cut is a Ditto transformation move in Pokemon Pokopia that allows Ditto to slice through trees, tall grass, wood piles, and other soft objects to collect materials. It is the third move unlocked in the game, taught by Scyther at Withered Wasteland. Cut is one of the most frequently used moves throughout the entire game, since lumber and leaf materials are needed for countless crafting recipes and building projects.
How to Unlock
Build the Tree-Shaded Tall Grass Habitat
Scyther requires a Tree-Shaded Tall Grass habitat, which consists of 4 patches of hydrated tall grass placed around a lush tree. Use Water Gun to hydrate dry grass first, then use Leafage to create tall grass patches near a tree.
Complete Scyther's Request
Once Scyther appears, it will ask you to deliver 2 Sturdy Sticks. These can be found by headbutting trees or searching the ground near forested areas. Bring the sticks back to Scyther to learn Cut.

When Cut is your active move, any cuttable object directly in front of Ditto will be highlighted. Press ZR to slice it. Cut consumes PP with each use.

Bread Upgrade
Eating Bread temporarily upgrades Cut with the following enhancements:
Cut through trees much faster (fewer hits to fell a tree).
Slice through metal grates and gates that normal Cut cannot penetrate.
Charge up your cut to cover a wider distance, hitting multiple objects in a single swing.
The upgrade lasts until the yellow meter (visible on screen) depletes, then Cut reverts to its standard strength.
Tips
Cut is the primary way to gather lumber early in the game. Stockpile wood materials before starting large building projects.
Metal grates block several shortcuts in later regions. Remember to cook and eat Bread before approaching them.
Tall grass regrows over time, so you can repeatedly Cut the same area for Leaf materials without permanently clearing it.
Combining Cut with Rototiller lets you clear and farm an area efficiently: Cut the grass, then till the exposed dirt.
