Overview
Leafage is a Ditto transformation move in Pokemon Pokopia that allows Ditto to grow tall grass one block at a time. It is the second move unlocked in the game, taught by Bulbasaur at Withered Wasteland. Leafage is fundamental to habitat construction, since many Pokemon habitats require tall grass patches as a building component.
How to Unlock
Build the Simple Tall Grass Habitat
Bulbasaur requires a habitat made from 4 patches of hydrated tall grass. Since you likely only have Water Gun at this point, the process is:
Find dry grass patches in Withered Wasteland.
Spray them with Water Gun to hydrate them into tall grass.
Group 4 hydrated tall grass patches together to form the habitat.
Complete Bulbasaur's Request
Once Bulbasaur appears, it will ask you to water 10 patches of dry grass using Water Gun. After completing this, Bulbasaur teaches you Leafage.
Controls
Button | Action |
|---|---|
ZR | Grow a tall grass patch on the highlighted block in front of you |
When Leafage is your active move, a single highlighted square appears in front of Ditto. Press ZR to grow tall grass on that block. The move consumes PP per use.
Grass Properties
Growing grass on dry, barren ground produces dry grass (brown). Dry grass is functional for some habitats but is less visually appealing.
Growing grass on hydrated ground produces hydrated tall grass (green). Most Pokemon habitats require this healthier variety.
Tall grass can be harvested with Cut to obtain Leaf materials.
Tall grass regrows naturally over time, so cutting it does not permanently remove it.
Salad Upgrade
Eating a Salad temporarily upgrades Leafage with two additional abilities:
Duckweed Creation: Use Leafage near water to spawn Duckweed patches on the surface. Duckweed is required for the Waterside Dinghy habitat (used to attract Dragonite and learn Glide).
Moss Removal: Use Leafage on mossy rocks to strip the moss, revealing clean stone underneath.
The upgrade lasts until the yellow meter depletes.
Tips
Many habitats need specific grass types (tall grass, red tall grass, pink tall grass). Check the Habitat Dex before growing grass to make sure you are in the right terrain.
Hydrate the ground with Water Gun before using Leafage. This ensures you grow green tall grass instead of dry brown grass.
Leafage is the quickest way to raise the Environment Level in barren areas. Covering dry ground with grass visibly improves the region.
Stock up on Salads before visiting Sparkling Skylands. You will need upgraded Leafage to create Duckweed for Dragonite's habitat.
