Overview
Hype is a specialty where Pokemon dance when they hear music, improving the mood of other Pokemon in the surrounding area. The boosted mood feeds directly into the comfort and Environment Level systems, making Hype Pokemon valuable for any settlement focused on raising Environment Level or keeping residents happy.
Hype is also tied to story progression: DJ Rotom's first concert request in Rocky Ridges specifically asks for Hype Pokemon in the audience.
How Hype Works
Play music at a location. Music sources include DJ Rotom's concert stage, jukeboxes, Musical Instrument habitats, and certain event decorations like the Beach Festival sound setup.
Hype Pokemon within hearing range automatically begin dancing.
Nearby Pokemon (any specialty) receive a mood boost that lasts while the music plays.
The mood boost contributes to comfort tier increases, which in turn raise the local Environment Level.
Hype is most effective when several Hype Pokemon cluster around the same music source. A concert with three or more dancing Pokemon produces a noticeably larger mood buff across your whole settlement.

Hype in Story Quests
Rocky Ridges introduces DJ Rotom, a Rotom variant with the DJ specialty who hosts an open-air concert. One of his early quests requires the player to gather a certain number of Hype-specialty Pokemon to attend the show. This is the only forced Hype quest in the main story, but subsequent DJ Rotom events continue to reward settlements with many Hype Pokemon.
Tips
Clefairy and Jigglypuff lines are the easiest early-game Hype sources. Build a standard flower or meadow habitat in Withered Wasteland and both lines will arrive within a few days.
Sylveon, Raichu, and Toxtricity double up Hype with other specialties (Cute/Generate/Generate respectively), giving you more return per resident.
Place Hype Pokemon near a jukebox or DJ Rotom's stage permanently to keep the mood buff running whenever music plays.
Ludicolo is the most visually entertaining Hype Pokemon thanks to its salsa dance animation. Build an Alien Invasion or Pretty Pond habitat to attract it.
Hype stacks across multiple Pokemon, so a larger Hype roster yields larger Environment Level gains during concerts.
