Overview
Water Gun is the very first Ditto transformation move learned in Pokemon Pokopia. Taught by Squirtle at the start of the Withered Wasteland chapter, it allows Ditto to spray water in a cross-shaped pattern to hydrate dry ground, revive wilted plants, and water crops. Despite being the first move you learn, Water Gun remains useful throughout the entire game.
How to Unlock
Water Gun is learned automatically near the beginning of the game. After exiting the starting cave with Professor Tangrowth, you will encounter a famished Squirtle. Feed Squirtle, and it will teach you Water Gun. No habitat construction is required.
Controls
Button | Action |
|---|---|
ZR | Spray water in a + shaped cross pattern (5 tiles) |
When Water Gun is equipped, a cross-shaped highlight (5 tiles in a + formation) appears on the ground in front of Ditto, moving as you move. Press ZR to spray all highlighted tiles at once. The move consumes PP per use.
Functions
Use | Description |
|---|---|
Revive dry plants | Spray dried-up grass, flowers, and trees to restore them to a healthy green state |
Hydrate terrain | Convert dry ground to normal ground, enabling Leafage to create hydrated tall grass instead of dry grass |
Water crops | Seeds planted in tilled soil need water to grow. Spray them directly or set up an irrigation system |
Clear mud | Wash away mud blocks to reveal paths or complete requests (e.g., Lapras's 80-tile mud-clearing task) |
Soup Upgrade
Eating Soup temporarily upgrades Water Gun, increasing the spray range beyond the default 5-tile cross. The expanded range lets you water larger areas with fewer uses, saving PP and time. The upgrade is indicated by a yellow meter that depletes over time.
Farming Integration
Water Gun works closely with Rototiller and Leafage in the farming cycle. The typical workflow is:
Spray dry ground with Water Gun to hydrate it.
Use Leafage to grow tall grass (now hydrated instead of dry).
Use Rototiller to till the soil.
Plant seeds and water them again with Water Gun.
Wait for crops to grow (or have a Pokemon with the Growth specialty speed it up).
Tips
Water Gun is required to unlock Leafage. Bulbasaur's request asks you to water 10 patches of dry grass.
Water Gun is also needed for Surf. Lapras asks you to wash away 80 squares of mud using Water Gun.
Keep Water Gun handy even in late-game regions. Dry terrain is common in every area, and reviving plants increases the Environment Level.
In areas without natural water sources, combine Water Gun with Suck Up Liquids to create ponds and streams for irrigation.
